Destiny: Exotic weapons fixed.... and then broken.

I'm a fairly low level-casual Destiny player, what does this mean?

Would have been a good idea... without the stats reset.

I'm not saying just upgrade our existing exotics to the new stats... hell, why not?
Isn't Destiny supposed to be about the game? Sorry but this sounds like one of those cheap morpg time-sucker things.

I applauded the no-more-grid move, but this one really sucks.

LOL, what's the point of even doing VoG anymore? So you might get weapons which will be of no use in a level 32 raid?

Maybe so you can get drops to help you do the higher level content that exists? You're going to need to be 30 and have maxed weapons to be prepared for normal crota's end, let alone the hard mode. If you already have maxed exotics and are level 30 - great, you can get going on the raid day 1 because you are ready. If you're not, then having a 300 exotic or light 30 armor is still going to help you beat the next raid to get higher level loot in the first place.

I know DeeJ was mentioning them doing something to help keep VoG somewhat relevant for people once the new raid comes out. What that is supposed to be I have no idea and there hasn't been much said about it. Based on some of their decisions as of late I'm not holding my breath.

Every faction has a rank. This takes a couple thousand reputation to reach the next level and every time you reach the next level you'll be able to buy 1 legendary piece of gear or 1 weapon.

You won't be able to use marks to purchase gear as easily as before and it will take longer to level up.

There are amazingly clever solutions in the first page. Can't beleive how bungie went full retard, again, on such an important design decision.

The only thing Destiny got right in the end was art direction and combat. The core gameplay and visual are stunning, really. Everything around it is baffling amateurism

Making MMO systems with no experienced MMO staff while ignoring 10+ years of MMO development is probably the first and biggest problem.

I rather they not even implement this or have it as an option. This is a big slap in the face of all those who spent their hard earned time to level up their exotics for only for Bungie to say FU we' re gonna reset your progress.

Thats not the point. Friday - work all day, come home, do real life shit, pass out.

Wake up Saturday - goto work, come home, do real life shit, pass out.

Wake up Sunday - OH FUCK! I forgot to check Xur... UGHHHH

It happens to me alot. Its my own fault.

But some people have real lives (I know fuck

I work in retail, I've missed Xur the last month at least. Leaving early Sunday is stupid.

They made a big point to say how they all internally play the game in the wild with everyone and how some guys get shafted by the RNG and whatever. Point is, if they really are all playing the game normally just like we are, then the issues Destiny has are glaring. Anyone can see where the frustration and annoyances stem from. So their decision is to add more annoyances, more currencies, more gates, and more of shit that people didn't want. And the funny thing is they fixed some of this in the most recent patch. I would love to be a fly on the wall in their office to see what the fuck is going on in there and how game design discussions and meetings go.

It means another roadblock in buying legendary gear from factions. Now you can only buy one weapon or armor until you rank up again. Even if you have all the marks in the world.

I dont have time to read 14 pages, can I get the high level overview here.

I have a Vex that dropped the day before the patch. It currently has a 320 max attack value. I'm planning on upgrading it fully tonight.

Are you telling me that if I try to upgrade the final slot to get it to 320, it'll reset the weapon down to base attack again?

The Vex Mythoclast is the only weapon in the game right now that is ready for the new content without being upgraded. They designed it that way because it's the hardest weapon to get.

EDIT: MIssed your last sentence, no it won't reset it.

LOL, what's the point of even doing VoG anymore? So you might get weapons which will be of no use in a level 32 raid?

I could be wrong but I would think that the new raid will be 30 for Normal and 32 for Hard. Just like the old raid is 26 for Normal and 28 for Hard. So your VoG gear will still come in handy until you get non raid legendary gear that bumps up your light.

But with the new vanguard armors that can supposedly get you up to 30 and maybe even 31 with a new exotics upgrade piece, grinding VoG to get to level 30 with raid gear seems like a moot point because of RNG and the fact that you can get guaranteed gear from the new vanguard/crucible after you leveled them up and get commendations.

Sony is "reviewing" my refund request for the purchase I made yesterday, though they noted that normally all sales are final. Will take 3-5 days.

Man, if they deny it I'll feel like such a maroon.

Anyone had success with refunds on preorder DLC?

I got my Uncharted 3 season pass refunded after the advertised 4 map packs turned out to only be 3 maps packs and some BS twisting of meanings.

Though the DLC still worked after I got my refund...

Vex is probably exempt from this, but if Xur has a upgrade slot for it in 2 weeks you have to level it up again.

Ok, thanks.

But for any other exotic, they're going to reset? I have a Hard Light that's on the verge of being fully upgraded...

Funny thing is they introduced the new mat economy and exotic shards this week so they basically encouraged people to level their exotics and use up their exotic shards only to tell us that it's all useless and you just wasted your shard.

You don't HAVE to level it up again. You don't HAVE to level up anything. It won't be min-maxed for the hard mode raid in January, but any exotic would be more than sufficient for 95% of the new content.

Ok, thanks.

But for any other exotic, they're going to reset? I have a Hard Light that's on the verge of being fully upgraded...

Then just wait, don't wast the Exotic shard to max it until you upgrade it through Xur. If you want to that is. The progress only resets when you upgrade the damage cap through Xur.

For 7 Strange Coins and 3 Exotic Energy you can purchase an Exotic Telemetry from Xur.
If you defeat Atheon with an Exotic Telemetry Active you get a Vex Oracle Coin.
With 7 Vex Oracle coins you can upgrade any Vault of Glass weapon to the new Crota's End Max.
The final upgrade will cost one Shard of the Wolf.
Coming March 2015.

Please be excited.

You would be better off just buying the new legendary armors and upgrading a current exotic to get to level 30. The drop rate on raid armor is absurdly low for something you can only attempt once a week.

No, you'll get to 323.

Then when the DLC hits you'll have the option to reforge it and continue to 393 or some such for a shard and 7k glimmer. But the penalty for doing so basically prestiging the load out perks and having to fill them in again.

New Rank Commendations
In addition to Crucible or Vanguard Marks, purchasing new Legendary items will require a Crucible or Vanguard Commendation
Commendations are received in Reputation Reward Packages delivered by the Postmaster upon reaching a new Reputation Level

Heroics and Nightfall (PvE) Changes
With the Light level increase to 32, Heroics and Nightfalls will be increased by 2 Light levels to keep up with new content, level increases, and gear items

fuck this game

Vex Mythoclast, strongest weapon for only a week or so. Was it worth it in the end? I wanted it so bad, got it just the day after it was badly nerfed. Never really got much use out of it until now...

The way I see it is Bungie is basically introducing new Exotic weapons for this expansion except that most of them are named the same. When you look at it that way, it kind of makes sense. It's the same as all of the other gear on your dude. If you want to do the raid or whatever at 32, you need to get new armor and new weapons. You will be replacing everything that is on your guy right now. So complaining about how you will have to level up your exotic again is silly because you have to level everything up again.

However, it would be nice to get a stack or two of those "level weapons faster" items for free when upgrading to the Exotic 2.0.

It means that buying things in Destiny is going to start needing charts and a power point presentation to figure out.

"Start?"

Ok, thanks.

But for any other exotic, they're going to reset? I have a Hard Light that's on the verge of being fully upgraded...

It only resets if you want the 2.0 version. You can stick with the original if you want. It's like doing Nightfall with a weapon that has 280 atk...it's not the end of the world that people are making it out to be.

Which sucks. I was debating on using my one shard on either the Mythoclast or Gjallarhorn, but figured I'd go Gjallarhorn since I already have a maxed out vision of confluence for my primary...... So basically I just wasted a shard since of course I'll want to be able to upgrade it to 320 damage.

yup. You will now need two more shards and pray that xur has the upgrade stuff for the gjallarhorn to max it again. Sounds like great game design to me ;)

Vex is probably exempt from this, but if Xur has a upgrade slot for it in 2 weeks you have to level it up again.

Seeing as how Vex maxed out right now is 323 I don't think they are going to have Xur give an upgrade for it since the only way to get the Vex is defeating atheon on HM. Xur having Vex in his inventory seems counter intuitive to the exclusiveness of the item.

I'm a fairly low level-casual Destiny player, what does this mean?

In order to purchase anything from the Vanguard or Crucible quartermasters, you must have:

Rank: You achieve reputation that levels up your rank by completing PvE activities (for Vanguard) or PvP/Crucible matches (for Crucible).
Marks: These are gained in a similar fashion: you gain Vanguard Marks for PvE stuff and Crucible Marks for PvP stuff. You can only earn 100 Marks, per type, each week, and you can only have a max of 200 Marks at any time.

Different Rep levels allow you to buy different things. So, at Rep rank 2, you can buy armor for either faction; for rank 3, you can buy weapons, and for every rank level up, you get a package containing an item from the faction.

So, currently, once you reach the appropriate rank, you can buy whatever you want, as long as you have enough marks. If I am rank 2, I can buy whatever armor I want for the faction, as long as I have the marks; if I am rank 3, I can buy whatever armor or weapons, as long as I have the marks.

What they're adding NOW are commendation tokens (or whatever). You earn a commendation for each time you level up/rank up a faction. In addition to all the prior requirements (Rank and Marks), these are required to purchase any gear from the faction.

Yes, it's as convoluted and inane as it sounds.

I'd love to see an interview with the bean counter(s) that make these progression-speed decisions.

A frank discussion would be eye-opening on so many levels I'm sure.

Got it, thanks. I'm cool with that. I can keep all of my earned progress or raise the cap at the cost of starting over.

That's totally worthwhile, you can max an exotic in one night if you have the Xur accelerated telemetry activated and turn in a swack load of bounties and events.

Me like!

An obvious fabrication. In the real game, you also have to seek out Xur between 4:00 and 6:00 on even numbered Saturdays to redeem your Vex Oracle Coin for a Grimoire Prism of Light. Stop spreading misinformation.

Dont know how many days I've played, I'd say a dozen, probably more.. for all its faults I really enjoyed the game. Was pretty excited for the dlc in spite of how little content it actually seems to be.

I don't know that I feel like playing this any more. Dont think I'm getting the expansion afterall. And I was gonna call in sick to play it on Tuesday, lol. Oh well, many other games to play.

And then finally on the 7th hour of the 7th day of the 7th month, you can get your Shard of the Wolf to fill in the final upgrade. Just in time for the new expansion when it all becomes useless.

Bullshit.

Its RNG within RNG. So its possible, if you get that Prism of Light, it doesn't work with your game but only with Halo MCC in the form of a matchmaking ticket.

Which is actually better

Are you fucking serious...

I'm like 100 rep away from Vanguard Rank 2 to buy my first Legendary.

So it will be even harder after the patch? I've played this game way to long to have only just gotten my first legendary, only for them to make it harder. Jesus. Loot games (Diablo) are supposed to be fun!

Got it, thanks. I'm cool with that. I can keep all of my earned progress or raise the cap at the cost of starting over.

Exactly. It's the same thing we will all have to do with every item we currently have. I really like my legendary scout rifle but I will have to replace it at some point and start fresh on a new weapon. This is no different.

Yes, it's as convoluted and inane as it sounds.

The worse part is, that you need to now level reputations atleast once in order to gain the 'commendation' to buy something. And you earn reputation slower than you earn the 100 marks, so that means that you're going to have to keep doing Dungeons/Crucibles and losing out on those potential marks...and grinding those queues. For essentially nothing.

That means that when we hit the 200 mark limit, that grinding for reputation will fill up that mark bar even when we're at full. So it'll be wasted marks each week.

Are you fucking serious...

It's funny you brought up Diablo. Before the 2.0 patch, you had to get all sorts of materials to make certain equipment. Then they condensed it to 3-4 main pieces you get, each one for a different tier of levels, and a basic 'Trash' item that all items use.

....And now Bungies going down the same road of adding an endless amount of currencies and materials for upgrading weapons. It's stupid. It's inane. They haven't learned from others mistakes, it seems.

Currently you can buy as many legendaries as you want once you hit rank 2 as long as you have the marks. But yea when the expansion hits you'll be able to buy 1 piece of gear at rank 3, one piece at rank 4, one at 5, and so on...

I think there is a ton of misunderstanding about how the attack level of your gun (i.e. a 300 Gjallahorn or Vision of Confluence) actually translates to how much damage you do to enemies. Your 300/300 weapon is still great and will be useful on anything that isn't the hard mode raid that comes out in January. It will still be fine in the Crota's End normal raid and in all the story content. And if you like it enough to want to upgrade it instead of using a new exotic weapon, that's fine too.

For 7 Strange Coins and 3 Exotic Energy you can purchase an Exotic Telemetry from Xur.

Please be excited.

- Rahool super raid boss offers Rahool Dollars (not guaranteed, please understand)
- 20 Rahool dollars will get you a Shard of the Wolf
- 3 Shards of the Wolf spent at Bur, Xur's brother and Sunday-only merchant will get you a Mark of Mastery
- Use 1 Mark of Mastery to Unlock a Behemoth Difficulty Strike (random, vanilla strikes only, all enemies are big like that one world from Mario 3)
- Behemoth Fang unlocks one visit into The Queen's Brother Secret Stash, offering you a chance at Eldritch tier weaponry, made from the Darkness (so spooky)
- Don't let The Queen's Brother see you during the stealth portions or you get kicked out of his basement
- Eldritch tier weaponry can only be leveled up through finding the Enduring Treasurer Vex and killing him (Sword of Kings odds, keep playing you boob)
- The Traveller finds out you're using Darkness weapons and gets mad pissed and turns it into a Paragon tier weapon, deleveling it for you being a dirty traitor
- The Paragon tier weapon is a key item that can only be used as a weapon in Destiny 2. We like you
r money
, Love Bungie

Exactly. It's the same thing we will all have to do with every item we currently have. I really like my legendary scout rifle but I will have to replace it at some point and start fresh on a new weapon. This is no different.
Agreed.

Question though, can the exotic be upgraded to tier II without being fully leveled? If so, probably best to stop leveling right now...

Only if we're guaranteed a commendation each level - the wording from Bungie is ambiguous and leaves it open that it could be a random drop.
