Destiny |OT23| This Train is Bound for Mercury

Played some skirmish again today and some IB. It really reminded me again how Destiny shines in 3v3 and straight up sucks in 6v6.

6v6 is like being at a hardcore gangbang set. It is a total sausage fest and you are just there looking for the woman. This is especially true on the smaller maps like Cauldron, Asylum and Anomaly. These should have never been added to 6v6.

Once you push heavy with supers the game just snowballs. After that it is only rockets and chaining supers for a good 2 minutes. There is nothing you can do to get out except literally get out and leave the game.

3v3 on the other hand is like doing an intimate threesome. The game shines, especially in Elimination. You can still have both heavies and super chain but to a much lesser extent. Everything that is bullshit about this game is just much less pronounced.

Point is 6v6 sucks, it has always sucked but it took me a while to realize.

I remember one of the Halo 5 design leads saying that Blink was broken and ruined Destiny.

Quinn maybe?

Well, if we are going to get new subclasses with the Comet, maybe we'll luck out and blink wont be included in any of them.

That might help the diversity at least.

He lurks but I don't think he'll post again.

Math gave Deej the gladiator thumbs down JPEG and then Deej just left and never came back. Urk has posted a few times since then and Luke Smith posted one time vaguely talking about the changes to come with HoW.

What a great train that was, awesome fun guys.

Batman barking, creepy family guy references, sprinkles and shenanigans aplenty.

They could fix that by making special ammo actually special. Like with quake, halv the battle is map controll to be able to get the ammo for the better weapons.

Its just dumb when u can run around with a special weapond like its your primary. Its not special anymore. U dont need to fight for it.
Yeah, it's the first time I've seriously played since the patch that changed the ammo drops and it's still fairly plentiful. At least people have no problems finding ways to keep their shotguns full of ammo.

It's funny that they removed the ability to roll final round on HOW snipers but left shot package untouched and easier to roll than ever.
That's the thing... they made it so easy to get the "perfect" shotgun that, at this point, everyone is going to have the same exact loadouts. It's just a matter of choosing whether you want to use a standardized sniper or a standardized shotgun.

But it's moot, since everything will get adjusted at some point anyway. I still find it funny that they keep fussing with PvP weapons when Gjallahorn breaks 100% of their PvE content though. :p

Titans with blinking solar super that releases fire in 360 degrees and also provides an impenetrable shield !

BTW. Anyone get the destiny artbook? Looks great (even though it is concept art of what didn't make it)

There is a new one? or are you just talking about the gun book that came with the game?

edit: oh wow I didn't even know this existed! I'm a pretty huge art book collector.

I remember one of the Halo 5 design leads saying that Blink was broken and ruined Destiny.

Quinn maybe?

Don't remember hearing that, but its pretty interesting. Blink is pretty broken when its paired with long range shotties.

See... This is the kind of post that really rings true to me.

Basically just compare whatever your point is to porn and it'll immediately click for me.

How many gaffers have Thorns bounty sitting there because of the crucible or xyor requirements?
If your point is that Thorn users have skill because they completed the bounty as opposed to shotgun users....you must be ignoring the fact that most people will use a Void shotgun to get the bounty. Cmon. It's not a challenge at all for anyone remotely interested in PvP, it'll just take longer for below average players.doubt anyone here hasn't been able to.

Probably just me because I dismantled my old 300 thorn months ago and never bothered doing it again.

More importantly, how many players have done the crucible part of the bounty by going into rumble with 2 friends and getting easy kills? I'd say a fuck load of them. The bounty part of Thorn is irrelevant.

Why would it not? I mean it's not a perfect bandage but I'm curious on your thoughts on it.

I'm not sure how to articulate it, but I just don't think Destiny is built for it.

Firstly, special ammo isn't being handled properly. Many of the crates are poorly distributed, which means it's difficult to contest them in 6v6. The crates work fine in 3v3, but one person can pull the ammo in 6v6 and then it's gone for another 2 minutes. During that time, supers, grenades and weapons like universal remote and no land beyond would be filling the niche. And then heavy comes up and you can't snipe the guy with rockets because there's less ammunition to deal with.

I wouldn't be opposed to trying it, but as the sentiment goes you start moving away from "Destiny" when those changes come into play.

Everything checks and balances each other.

I don't think the Thorn bounty is relevant to balance, but blink shotgunning is everywhere in IB and it's much worse than the Thorn in my experience. The more nerfs to primaries, the more we are going to see blink shotgunning. It's obnoxious and the biggest issue with (6v6) PvP in this game.

Im trying out my newly leveled 365 matador now. Its all im using. Just take a few detours every now and then, and you wont have to fire anything but your shotgun.

Shouldn't be like that.

Yeah I just did rumble...phew rough..

Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll rebalance the classes and take Blink away.

In a perfect world, but lets be honest, we're too far into the game cycle to remove a component like that.

If we're super lucky it'll be gone for Destiny 2, or maybe reworked, but I can't imagine a way to make Blink useful without having an impact on the on PvP the way it currently does.

I don't know if this is accurate or not but I love the analogy.

I'd say it's accurate and it also mirrors my thinking. I predominantly played 6v6 modes (I have like +12k kills in control), it's all I really ever played. Then one day I decided maybe I should try something else, so I went into Salvage and I fell in love. I now have a hard time playing 6v6, it's just a clusterfuck. It can still be fun, but I find it extremely frustrating now.

lol lima this is rich

but yea I don't understand why they're putting 6v6 on 3v3 maps. If they really wanted to take a queue out of their Halo playbook:

2v2 Doubles with revives
3v3 Skirmish with revives
3v3 Salvage with revives
3v3 Elimination with revives
4v4 Clash on smaller maps
4v4 Control on smaller maps
6v6 Combined Arms (Clash and Control) including but not limited to the larger maps

6v6 Control on Asylum is absolutely stupid.

There is something really wrong in PVP when you start shooting an enemy with your non- exotic pulse, hand cannon or auto rifle and the enemy just jump at you with his/her shotgun and kills you with ease. Then you try to do long range strategy and the same guy takes you down with a exotic handcannon with easy, builds a super and destroy the rest of your team

I'd love to see Arc Hunters lose it, personally.

I feel like Bungie's approach to balance is more or less exclusively nerfing things. Balance needs to be more general and across the varying weapon classes and it should be more than just nerfing and buffing. Then it should also be addressing individual as in specific issues like Thorn's range, Blink etc.

Hello guys... missed u a lot.

The way i experienced: Problem with the ''new'' efrideth is that it can NOT roll field scout. Without FS it has 3 bullets which is waaaaay too low, with that RF. Even with field scout i think a LDR with FS is still better on Skolas due to the faster RF, thus theoretically it can have the best dps.

The new perk larger magazine makes it up to 5 (?) bullets, if i am not mistaken. It should be ok, but FS also boosts the magazine as a whole a bit more (need to test the new perk difference, not 100%).

Might try rerolling Her Benevolence to void and bigger magazine. Shoots faster then Efrideths and is the same impact as LDR. IMO this gun might be the best of the new snipers for void Skolas.

As for me, luckily, i had a few extra ''old'' Efrideths, one of which i rerolled to FS, clown cartridge and surplus, ambush scope.
We had a party of 2 Efrideths and one LDR, all FS... needless to say, Skolas down 1st try, with LOTS of extra time, was quite insane. The difference between this and 3x Predith's is really BIG. Theoretically even 3 Prediths should be enough, altho you need nearly all headshots and a close mine spawn would also help a ton.
Well from my experience the Efrideet with FS is better than LDR with FS for Skolas... 25 shots is enough to take him down and the last round takes 13k damage (4 shots in a 25 magazine).

I guess with the new Efrideet you will need to use a ammo pack or finish him with other void CM... the same happens with LDR even with FS.

And Old Efrideet can deal damage enough to cover the lack of one Praedyth.

3x Old Efrideet can finish him in no time.

How does Invective compare to Fellwinters, Matador, etc in PvP? I have one half leveled and may break it out tonight.

I don't find it as effective due to lower impact and range. The auto fire perk is useful, however, if you're a "spray and pray" close quarters combatant like myself.
