Best Trials match of the week for me:
HvMgIj2.jpg

Went 11-2. Still don't know how that happened, I was just in the zone and landing those TLW hip fire 2 shots and max range Matador scumbag kills.

Just imagine how good you'll be when switching to Jumper and mastering the art of offensive blinking, ;P

Slowly getting more into the PvP vibe of things with Destiny. I always just love the Elimination style type of multiplayer games more than anything. Gears, The Last of Us etc. ToO scratches that itch but in a FPS.

Made it to Mercury last night and received the Adept Arc Summoner. My weapons are getting to the point where if it doesn't have a burn on it I need to discard it to make room.

What are your MUST HAVE non elemental weapons?

Thorn, Last Word & Hawkmoon. The holy trinity of hand cannons.

Primaries with better perks than the elemental weapons. My Messenger for instance is way better than my Arc PoE pulse or Oversoul Edict. Several of my handcannons are great alternatives to Fatebringer (TDYK and my Outlaw-FS-CC Lash & Red Hand for instance). Vintage Vanquisher VIII AR (AR buff believe). PvP-specced legendary primaries don't need an element too.

Elements are only really super useful when playing on Epic difficulty (basicly only Nightfalls) and on burns (basicly only Nightfalls).

It's a lot of fun, leveling both those subclasses is going to take some serious time and bounty turn-ins though

I started a new character a few weeks ago and it didn't take too long to level it up for me 100% for both classes.

I only did maybe the first 2 story missions then I hopped into the Crucible and stayed in there until I hit Level 20. It is surprising fun that way and fast. I made sure to grab the Crucible bounties as soon as I was able.

Then once I hit 20 and was able to equip all my armor and weapons I did the Nightfall and then went back into the story missions and did them all at Level 30 for 7,500 XP each one. I didn't even have to do all the story missions and I maxed both classes.

From a PVE standpoint, basically the Red Death for utility in Hard Crota, and Universal Remote for the fun.

Elements are only really super useful when playing on Epic difficulty (basicly only Nightfalls) and on burns (basicly only Nightfalls).

Elements are really useful when dealing with shielded enemies, they make thing go much faster if you switch accordingly depending on the faction, and make you save tons of special and heavy ammo.

Damn... that actually sounds like a pretty solid plan. Crucible until you hit level 20 must have taken quite a few games though. Each game is typically 10-15 minutes... you must have been in there for many hours :O

Well I collect exotics so those. Legendaries I keep despite no element:
1. A good PvP Pulse like Hopscotch or Spare Change or 3 Little Words
2. Red Hand IX with a good roll is maybe the best Legendary Hand Cannon for PvP (89 aim assist, sick)
3. A nice Outlaw+Firefly Scout Rifle like the old version of Ghaleon's Demise or Saterienne Rapier

Off to watch Jurassic World, should be back in time for the maintenance lol. Seems like no trials for me this week. Will help Noomi doing story missions later , but dude i do not promise that i will be completely sober.

The thing is, very few enemies are shielded outside of Nightfalls. And then if you're outside a Nightfall, the only enemies with a shield are spongy enough that I'll use shotguns anyways.

The epic modifier on NF gives shields to stuff you can kill with a primary like Harpies, Shanks and Psions. But outside that modifier you'll only find shields on tanks like Minotaurs, Centurions, Wizards and Captains.

VoG only has shielded Minotaurs which aren't even in half the encounters.
CE only has a few Wizards

In both of those, Fatebringer is my favorite primary despite there being zero Arc shields. FB is what it is because of its perks, 90% of the time being Arc is just not a factor at all.

Go for it, haha. It was far was painful. It was actually kind of fun to play with any green weapon I managed to find plus without all the subclass abilities I usually use.

Yeah, but I didn't play it straight through from 1-20 in one sitting, it took me the weekend to hit Level 20 (while still doing the regular stuff with my other characters) and then maybe over the next week going through story missions to max out the second sub class.

I enjoy Crucible so it was fun for me being under leveled, whereas being under leveled and with crappy guns in the Story missions made me hate life the last time I leveled up a character, haha. So it was an easy decision for me.

Sure they do, but he's talking primaries specifically. A Lash still does plenty of damage to shielded enemies without an element. And we have yet to see an elemental handcannon with for instance Crowd Control. I was just saying the only content where having an elemental primary matters most of all is when you're playing on Epic difficulty. Other times a kinetic primary is just as viable. And if there is a shielded enemy you can always switch to your special/heavy.

Yeah, I just don't like the look of my Titan anymore. Also I wanted to roll a new Hunter first, get the lv1 class items on that, decrypt a couple rare class engrams hoping for some of the cooler low-level capes for my Hunter. Then delete and switch to Titan and just level that one from scratch (while doing the same for class items). If I recall Zoba did this once and he got some really cool and rare class items. Might wait till I get the last ToO pieces for my Titan though.

To each its own I guess, but especially with the last month of PoE, using VoC for Hive / Cabal, WoC for Vex and Fang of Ir Ut made my runs much faster especially when those shielded enemies appear.

I don't even use Fate anymore unless I'm running the Abyss, I find the Fang much more versatile.

I know he is talking about primaries, and I disagree about kinetic being as effective as taking the right element for the right encounter in term of damage optimisation even outside of Epic difficulty.

I don't say non elemental are not viable, just that it's not as effective.

Unfortunately, I did not get back to Mercury twice this weekend. Went 7 and 0 with Ruben and Icon and then lost it when we had the double buff.

Went 7-3 this week in trials last night after my first attempt so not too bad. Haven't played much this weekend due to work being crazy but I am hoping to get some trials in after work today. Maintenence should be done by the time I am home from work...Hopefully.

Is Unstable still doing any streams today? If so I will be watching to get on that trials train. Would love to get an opportunity to go to Mercury as I have never been before.

Has there been any actual reason given for the 6 hour downtime? Does it take that long to remove Thorn from the game? Bungie Day preparation?

Lately I've been running PoE with the VoC only, matching the other elements with different shotguns (swordbreaker for minotaurs, and found verdict for captains), because the only enemies I really need to kill quickly from a distance are those pesky wizards -- the other ones usually come to me at one point or another.

The wizards and the Cabal Centurions, which both have solar shields, are the biggest threats, so VOC is the way to go.

Also or that servitor boss that takes 20min to kill lol, always use VoC for that since you've said it was good for it.

Ah yeah right, centurions!
I knew there was another one with a solar shield I was forgetting about, thanks! ^^

The VoC even has that oracle bonus thing for the destroy mines phase: they go down in just a few shots with it.
Saved my ass a few times already.

Yeah, scouts are the way to go, even if I prefer using the Fang just to spot those pesky captains in the radar lol.

I know the feeling! Went 8 wins last weekend and 7 wins this weekend but could never finish the card off. Maybe tonight if I can round up a team.

ToO Silver package seems to be the one that gives exotics or is it just me? Gold has been disappointing.

I've only received one exotic from a package, ice breaker... opened a ton of them too.

I keep getting fusion rifles out of them :/

I strongly believe that some specific weapons/gears just wont drop for everyone.
Like few people are dying to get Horn and me waiting for hawkmoon drop since destiny launch.

What are the recommendations on VoC vs Vex MythoClast?

I got them both pratically at the same time (along with a fang)

I'm leveling the Fang right now but not sure which to do next

Yep, the oracle perk applies to mines. VoC or Found Verdict make this objective quite trivial. ^^

While we're at the PoE protips, some well advised gaffer (I forgot who you were, though, forgive me about that :/ ) taught me the other day that the hunter melee ability that turns you invisible do proc on the mines as well, which is quite useful when dismantling them.

VoC is a killer weapon, level it up and ascend it as soon as possible.
The Vex is cute, but only really good when the specialist modifier is active (because it is considered as a special weapon).

Guesses/thoughts on what the downtime is for? Gothalion keeps hyping some secret "summer content" that this is laying the groundwork for. However, I feel like a raid would've been announced at E3 to keep momentum going (or regain some, since PoE seems to have lost its luster for many of us) until TTK.

Melee is the hardest thing to get over. I wish I could switch. I popped Blade Dance and just ran at two ppl like a dumb ass spamming grenade over and over again.

lol you can press X during Bladedance to do the melee animation. Much easier than pressing R3.

I killed myself a lot when I first changed to Jumper, but I don't think I could go back to default now.

And further If your super is not charged then pressing x always does a melee when your controller is set to jumper.
