I'm starting to wonder if anyone has ever found a Legendary Armor piece that matched their class.

I have. And I've only gotten 3 legendary engrams. 1 legendary chest piece, 1 legendary MG, 1 turned into a rare. Got super lucky, but also unlucky to have only found my first legendary engram on Monday after 30 hours of play.

1205 Grim score,
No legendary drops or gear bought in 20 hrs of gametime.

I am gonna give up on stupid farming runs because they are ruining my enthusiasm for the game. I think I am going to replay the campaign on harder difficulties and do patrols at each location to learn more about the maps and shit.

I have a feeling that once I give up TRYING to find shit and go back to what I enjoy, RNGesus may smile upon me and shower me in purple drops. Or not...

I never farmed for my legendary engrams and I have 3 exotic weapons, 1 exotic bounty (which will end up giving me an exotic weapon), a ton of strange coins, a purple hunter helmet I couldn't use, and a usable legendary chestpiece I DE'd because I bought one already.

Keyword: bought one. It's far better to go for marks and rep and not farm. You end up being able to buy crap if you want without having to rely on drops. Want some purple shoes? Go buy them for 65 marks instead of running around the Rocketyard opening chests for hours.

so judging by how many people are complaining about drops, i guess i should consider myself lucky that i got a drop of an exotic auto rifle when i first hit level 20 playing crucible.

The flight plan I just filed with the agency list me, my men, Dr. Pavel here. But only one of you!
Should note that the "No spoilers" is a lie, the video has clips from the ending cutscene.

I would argue that it is literally impossible to spoiler the plot of destiny due to it lacking the requisite components to spoiler.

Anyone know what the fuck "VIP Kills" are? The Grimoire lists them as needed to complete the "Patrols Introduction" and get more materials from doing all city quests, but I don't know what they are. I have 24 of them, apparently.

Where are you getting that?

Here's what's going to happen to everyone complaining about loot:

You want legendary engrams to yield more legendary items? I can almost guarantee this will happen, but to compensate, legendary engrams then drop less.

This is exactly what I want to happen. I'd be 100% cool with a lower drop rate that guarantees legendaries for my class since I'm still gonna be able to buy some each week with marks.

No legendary/exotic drops. Bought 2 legendaries, after finally reaching crucible level 2 (god damn)

That's exotic tho.

Very nice, better than legendary, but still.

Edit...saw someone else say they found one, so I guess it's possible. The overall rarity compounded with the possibility of 3 classes must make it just feel impossible.

Ah, I see what you mean.

Your theory is that exotic drops will be guaranteed usable, whereas legendary are all up to the shit RNG?

Which method did you use?

I've spent time at nexus, "we've woken the hive" and skywatch. I think the first moon mission is the best simply because there are so many thralls and you can die so fast to respawn them.

I also did the oryx glimmer run for a few hours to farm about 100k glimmer and spent all the cash to level up my Cryptarch to 6. Not sure if that did anything or not, but he gave me nothing but blues on each level up.

Ah ok. I kind of swore off Patrols because they just seemed so worthless on the xp/gear front relative to every other game mode, but I might have to bite the bullet and do them a bit again for vanguard rep at least, and actually engaging in a successful event would be nice.

Yep, you sound like me. I've gone back to bounties and then doing patrols and scrounging for materials and chests at the same time. It doesn't feel nearly as grindy as farming and I'm getting a lot more marks/reps and I have clear goals I'm chasing with the faction vendor.

The public events are a nice side benefit too. They're fun and you get the daily bonus.

So then the complaint will turn to, the legendary engrams don't drop enough. Round and round we go.

You're basically detailing exactly what the solution should be. Exactly the same number of actual legendary loot produced, but an engram guarantees that it yields at least the rarity of the engram itself. (as a result, yeah, you get less legendary engrams overall.)

I mean, you're right that there will always be people taking issue with the quantity of legendary drops, but that's no reason to not fix a silly thing like the way engram rarity works. How much legendary loot is dropping overall is a separate issue from the messaging problem created by the weird engram system.

Just picked up the "A Dubious Task" exotic bounty, what do you guys think is the easiest/fastest strike to run? Need to finish 5 with zero deaths.

Is there any specific way to unlock Ghost skins? Are they drops? Tied to finding the ghost fragments?

Just do the level 8 devil strike, that's what I did. You can still die (I did a few times) but it's probably the quickest, most reliable method.

Last night I was farming the cave in Skywatch for some drops. Was at it for about 2 hours or so. It's so mundane and mind numbing. But then something happened. A message popped up in the lower left corner of the screen, something like "Ememies organizing..." or "Ememies gathering...". This was not a public event, it was different. Instead of the regular Hive coming out of the farming cave, Wizards started coming out. After like an hour of shooting the same enemies over and over, I was like WTF?

Then more enemies started flooding the entire field from every spawn point, yellows all over the place, Hive Knights, Wizards, Fallen Captains. Most of the enemies were resistant to our weapons and could only be killed with supers. It was out of control. There was probably 3 of us farming (level 20+), then more players came in to help There were guardians everywhere firing off supers, generating dozens of nodes of light. It probably lasted 5 or so minutes, people actually got killed and needed reviving. It was a huge surprise after grinding level 5 enemies for so long. It was like the game knew we were gaming the system and tried to make us stop.

Things like this is makes the mundane in Destiny more exciting.

That happened to me (Level 24) and a few other mid level 20 guys last night. I was like WTF is going on!? It was crazy. Everyone of us had to be revived multiple times.

Does anyone else think the strike playlists should reward more vanguard rep/marks? The highest one only gives 15 rep, while a vanguard bounty to do a story mission on hard nets you 100

Yes. It's way too low. I think the level 24 playlist gives like 20 or 25 but that's still too low. The daily heroic gives at least 100 if not 150 and the base level is 22 for that.

Too easy

what level are you?

Devils Lair- just hang back for the Spider tank.. Keep in cover for the eye.

I never got my red dlc ghost :(

Really feeling the legendary drought, been 24 for 4 days. Have gotten 5 legendary armour pieces and none for my class.

To my surprise the last legendary come from a blue engram and was even more disappointed to see I couldn't use it. RNG is constantly looking down on me.

look at my previous posts man.
I was stuck all weekend on 24 before switching my focus to doing bounties, patrol, chests and material scavenging.

Once you hit 50 of a material you can trade it in at the Vanguard or Crucible quartermaster for rep (i'm running FWC faction so it went there). Monday and Tuesday night I focused on doing all of that and getting my FWC to level up. This morning before work I had enough marks to buy a legendary chest piece and legendary boots. Plus I got to pick from a couple of options that suited which weapons I use most (more shotty & AR ammo).

give up on the farming. the farm is a lie.

so in terms of the fastest way to just get enough marks to buy legendary items, is it just straight up crucible non stop?

something about PVE stuff seems slow

That can't be, because I only have 11 public events completed (and not to mention the fact that I've only ever done ONE eliminate the target event).

It's on the Grimoire on B.net.

I can't access it from work.

Maybe it's the Bounties asking you to eliminate a target for 25 rep?

So yeah, doing a certain number of Strikes or games in the Crucible and new rewards unlock. Maybe those getting really good loot at the end of each game have simply played enough games to qualify for those rewards.

Devil's Lair on easy. Have fun and don't let that damn spider lazer you to death.

I'm level 25. So if I finish 4 with no deaths then die on the 5th run, does it reset?

They work very differently (also, apparently the triple jump kind of sucks). The Double Jump is just that: a double jump. It's very quick moving. The Lift is more of a jetpack sort of deal; it'll take you much higher than the jump, but it's also significantly slower moving.[/QUOTE

Thanks, looks like ill be going Titan.

Lets do a little experiment.

Post your level, your grimoire score, and how many legendary items and/or engrams you've gotten.

I have a feeling the higher the grimoire the more legendary drops you get.

I'm 1355, Level 24 and I've only ever gotten ONE legendary engram. Haven't seen anything purple before or after

Grimoire : 1365

Level: 23

Legendary: one and it's not even for my class.

You can probably go do it yourself.

But yeah, let's nerf literally the only way to get enough Engrams to MAYBE get a decent upgrade.

(Or not. Unless Bungie makes it less likely to get rares out of purple Engrams, farming needs to stay in.)
Umm what about just buying stuff? I'm 99% sure accumulating Marks is faster and less frustrating than these crazy repetitive schemes.

I would argue that it is literally impossible to spoiler the plot of destiny due to it lacking the requisite components to spoiler.

Just putting out the warning. The end and plot were terrible, sure, but I know if I hadn't already finished the story, I'd have been irritated by seeing bits of the final cutscene ahead of time.

I like my disappointment unfettered and fresh!

rumble matches are fairly quick (3v3) but see my above post, when doing all that shit at once... bounties, patrols, materials, it goes pretty quick. I mix it up though, do crucible for a while and work on bounties then switch to pve.

But you guys are missing what I'm saying. The end result would probably be REALLY close to the same.

Say you get 100 engram drops. 60 of them are legendary. you get only 5 legendary items.

Bungie makes a change where legendary engrams have a high chance for a legendary, but also makes it where now, the engrams drop less.

So, now you have 100 engram drops, and only 5 are legendary and you get 4 legendary items. What's the point in making the change? Basically none. So now you have people complaining that LE's don't drop enough. Bungie isn't just going to make legendaries rain from the sky considering that's what is your gate keeper to certain content.

This is what I'm working to get:

thorn.jpg

It's a Batman gun with poison bullets. I want it.

So yeah when you go for that final mission, send me an invite my name on psn is YzeNup, it's a lvl 26 strike on the moon where you don't have to kill phogoth you just have to kill his ads for a while. It's not matchmade though. In fact if anyone wants to do it add me on psn at YzeNup

Does Rep continue to go up past Rank 3? If not, I don't get the point of rep unless it's only a barrier keeping people from immediately buying endgame gear.

I'm asking this because I'm trying to get an idea of Bungie's lv 20+ gameplay philosophy.

I got my lvl 2 Vangard pretty fast just doing bounties... it is ~500 or more rep points per day for ~2 hours or less.

Depends on the mode I guess?

If you get a good loop going with Public Events, it's probably about even as you also get benefits from them since you're killing creatures / looting chests and materials in-between them.

Vanguard marks versus Crucible, though, so.....

Seems to go indefinitely, like the Cryptarch. You get a purple every time you rank up.
