Also, if I do this with a friend, will we be fighting over chests? Or is all loot/chests/pickups just within our own game?

You can do bounties with Voidwalker equipped then switch to Sunsinger when you turn them in and upgrade your abilities. You don't even have to use Sunsinger at all.

I'm very interested in this game but I have two questions:

1- How gimped is the Xbone version? I don't have a PS4 yet.
2- How is the game if you don't have a party? I'm interested in the on-line features but I wanna be able to hop in by myself.

You'll be fine. Just tell each other where the chests are and you both get your own loot.

I've gotten a legendary engram from a chest and my friend got spinmetal lol.

Either save it to use in Legendary and Exotic weapon upgrades, or turn it in at the Vanguard, Crucible, or Faction for rep/marks.

Here's a decent legendary farming method as well.

Gets you 25000 glimmer in about an hour. You constantly buy the engrams from the Cryptarch. Each run gets you about half way on your cryptarch level. That's provided you also collect the codexes that the enemies drop so you can trade them in for more glimmer to continue purchasing engrams. Every time you level up your cryptarch you get a legendary engram from the post master.

Did this all day. Didn't get any Legendary all turned into Rare or Uncommon.

The Nexus loop caters to crypt/legendary/materials
The Loop does all that + you power level the shit out of your Marks for your factions

I don't know how I haven't played with you yet. Whenever I see someone doing patrol and they have an open slot, I jump in. Do you mostly have a full fireteam, or are set to invite only?

I just created a clan that anyone can join, specifically for the purpose of getting trophies. Hopefully we can get a group of six to join once the raid opens up. If the clan ever becomes full, I'll remove those who no longer need the Strike or Raid trophies.
