I do both.
Farming is much more efficient in terms of Engrams per hour though.

But the nightfall strike is freaking beautiful since it boosts faction reputation gain and exp gain for the rest of the week.

For motes of light, just keep playing.
I get them from blue and purple engrams a lot.
Any farming method will slowly build em up.

Im level 12 and got loads of spinmetal. No idea what to do with them

You can either trade them for rep or save them for legendary/exotic weapon upgrades.

I say trade them for rep.

For crying out loud. I don't even get excited anymore when I see a Legendary Engram drop.. it's just pre-bundled disappointment. One dropped for me while I was doing patrol missions on the moon and I just thought to myself.. meh. Obviously, I got a blue from it.

On the uphand, I think I just got the exotic bounty thing finally after turning in 4 vanguard bounties today. I panicked and closed the window so I will look up which one to pick I suppose.

A strike typically gives 10-25 vanguard rep and takes 30-60 minutes.
Turning in spinmetal is tons faster as you can farm 150-200 per hour and you get tons more loot along the way.

Do as much as you can, I had the stamina, don't get bored easily, went 4.5+, do say 1 hour, even 1/4th of all that inventory stuff and gear/weapons/engrams, come on son

You're in luck! Thanks to the internet, there will always be new farming routes. Count on YouTube to have new/better/revised farm routes as soon as they patch out the old ones, haha.

I really think it's truly random, but I think it makes people feel better if they're doing absolutely nothing? In like a protest to randomness?

I saw several people mention that Bungie is pretty no tolerance to AFK stuff so at some point they'll probably get banned or progress wiped or something.

Holy moly, can you imagine getting progress wiped in this game??

Yeah. I have to say I suck at the PvP (though I'm only level 10 so have no access to the higher tier abilities/weapons), and it's nice waiting for that roll at the end of a fight.

I guess marks are going to be where it's at for the better players at level cap, and at least you're guaranteed more if you're doing well.

If I do a loop and either get everything or find nothing, do I need to die and respawn? O can I keep walking around and the chests will respawn eventually?

Because when the least fun way to play the game is the most effective way it means things are fundamentally broken?

Everything in Destiny rewards playing in the least fun way possible. Everything.
Best way to farm? Suiciding trash and looping chests.
Best way to fight in PvE? Never go in the open, only take pot shots at boss until you have agro, always focus on the trash, always play in the safest way to prevent dying.
When you finally get high light level gear youre rewarded with a PvE mode thats even LESS fun and even further rewards taking zero risks.
When you reach the highest difficulty it gets taken further and mandates riskless play!

Then when the Fallen vs Hive battle occurs, The Free for All Rumble, fucking greens and blues like neon pool worth, served on a snow cup

You can do bounties with Voidwalker equipped then switch to Sunsinger when you turn them in and upgrade your abilities. You don't even have to use Sunsinger at all.

I got Voidwalker to a point where I felt fine with it. I never maxed it out, but I can Blink with it. I saw the rest of the abilities I hadn't reached and went to focus some on Sunsinger. Can't say I regret it.

Do what was suggested in the thread: Do your bounties as a Voidwalker, but before you turn them in, swap to Sunsinger.

Also, you can definitely do Vanguard bounties as a Sunsinger even without double jump. Or Patrol. Either way, do easy stuff for your subclass until you're confident you're good with it.

1. Not gimped at all? Not sure what you mean.

2. It's...Not as good. But thankfully, GAF has a lot of people playing. Strikes are fun even with matchmaking. But you'll have a lot more fun doing strikes and any other group "stuff" with some friends. Don't let that deter you, but know that you'll probably not enjoy it at as much until you start running group content as it's NOT the most story driven or solo-centric game.
