Destiny - The Taken King |OT| Time to Explain

Started playing and got better Main and Special almost immediately (level 34 Titan btw).

BTW why does this game keep giving my Fusion Rifles better than other specials? Just give me an awesome shotty, PLEASE!

Also what happened to the Daily and Weekly Strikes? I seem locked out of everything now (and yes I have the TK expansion).

Oh and the Field Test weapons missions are only for crucible?

Why does everything cost legendary marks now? I have none of those. Got a ton of spinmetal etc though (what do I do with this stuff?). I need those things that let me upgrade legendary gear. The Eternal Light or whatever its called.

I didn't give a shit about destiny lore before TTK. Now i've been reading grimoire cards, theories, rumours non stop since tuesday.

I'm curious, how do early adopters feel in that they paid 60 for the base game a year ago that was underdeveloped and pretty rough in places, now they pay 40 to bring it up to what is being touted as "what it should've been all along" for a total of $100.

Meanwhile someone who has never played it can get the lot today for 60.

Early adopters getting screwed over again or are you OK with it? Honest question, not trying to stir anyone up.

Content wise Destiny was not what it should have been at launch. I don't think that is in question. Still, I've managed to get over 400 hours out of the game in the last year and have had an absolute blast with 2 other real life buddies doing pretty much everything that the game had to offer. I've also made new friends and clan-mates and except for that awful period shortly after Crota's End I have been very satisfied with my year 1 Destiny experience.

In terms of a co-op RPG shooter it's the best I've ever played!

You need to be around the required light level to do daily, etc.
Daily is 240 light. Weekly is 260. NF is 280.

Some of the gunsmith weapons require pvp, some don't. If you don't like pvp just pick the pve ones.

Legendary marks are rewards from some quests, dailies, etc and by dismantling year 2 legendary gear.
If you're starting now don't worry about legendary marks. It will come to you eventually.

And forget about etheric light.

the lore is amazing.. I really wish at the very least we could access the grimoire from the speakers library in game.

anything bungie.

Considering how much room we have in the menu on t op. I feel like it wouldn't be that much to add another slot saying: "Grimoire" and let you look through it...

Except we know that Bungie is struggling to find memory/space for things.

If you didn't know Patch 2.0.0 meant we lost those lovable Tower Map bots that would show us maps of the tower if we talked to them.

We had to lose them so we could actually have bigger Vault space.

If the Grimoire was going to be anywhere, it would have to be an area of the Director you could explore.

Anyone else feel like the new pistols just 'feel' better to use?

From what people are saying, it sounds like Bungie changed the way sights work on HCs. I don't know the specifics, but a lot of people are saying that aiming with them feels more natural.

is this because of PS360??

Damn the old gen systems! Can't they make it a next-gen exclusive feature? Or would they fear that would be a slippery slope?

I think bungie should drop last gen now from 2016

This isn't necessarily due to the old gen systems.

In fact, I believe some time between Dark Below and House of Wolves, last gen players lost the ability to do a quick check for item comparisons.

You know how when you get an item you can hold R2/RT to compare it to what you have equipped? I'm pretty sure last-gen lost that ability some time ago as a form of compensation. Probably to do with the old Vault Space upgrade we got a long time ago.

Last gen got comparison back as of 2.0

FWIW, if you've bought everything at launch without the season pass, I think you're up to $140 now.
$60 + $20 + $20 + $40

That having been said, I'm absolutely fine with it. I've enjoyed all of my time with Destiny so far. I'm only around 80-100 hours in since launch day, but I've had a lot of fun playing with an out-of-state friend and doing raids/nightfalls with DGAF.

I'm also glad that the entry point is now comprehensive (all content) and affordable (price of any other new AAA game). It should help to expand the community around the game, which can only be a good thing.

A lot of people have said they feel like they paid to beta test vanilla Destiny, which I can understand. I try to take the mentality that I paid for entertainment...and I got about 100 hours for around $100 in year one. I'm more than okay with that.

Drunk bought this last night.

So I did the court of oryx last night. Pretty awesome.

But, does only the person who presented the rune get rewards from that chest? And do you not have to actually open the chest?

Everyone has chance to get loot but player that uses rune had higher chance. Court of Oryx is the shit though. Had a group of 7 people in it yesterday and we ran through 15+ Recoprical Runes and about 5 Stolen Runes but once we used an Antiquated Rune is was game over bad. Light level recommendation is 300 and even with 7 people there we stood no chance with the 2 highest people being around 290-280

PSA: In the restorative mind strike. Get out of the fucking line of sight of the boss when Medusa's stare is active. Jesus we wiped 3 times at the end because of that. Heroic difficulty made it much harder.

Also I got a legendary enegram from doing it and it turned into a year 2 Thunderlord! First year 2 exotic.

And earlier I got the questline Hunger Pangs. Do we know what triggers it?

So I was collecting worm spores on the dreadnaught and then I randomly got a completed bounty that's labeled as a quest step? No corresponding quest though. Looks like it gives crota's bane rep.

Next step is 30 void kills. Anyone know what this is?

Also, are ascendent shards and radient energy useless now? Time to cash into the speaker?

I really like what I've played. I won't really sink my teeth into it until I finish MGS V to though as I'm super addicted to that and only on mission 21.

Just to be clear: there is no taken king + the other two expansions bundle right? I have the base game and nothing else, would love to jump back in actually, but I'm not spending 60€ and rebuying the game and 40 just for TTK seems a bit too much. Plus, I'd love to experience dark below and wolves... what should I do? wait for sales?

i am going to start playing the game from the very beginning. does it do a decent job of explaining the leveling system and what materials are good for etc...?

Does anyone know if armor (not counting mark/artifact) drop at over 280 def? Or do you need Legendary Gear from the vendor or engram to get anything 280+?

Cause I've gotten rare weapons that are 280+, but not a single piece of body armor has been over 280.

All of the Mars strikes were updated.

Anytime you queue them up, parts of the strikes will either have Vanilla, retouched, or Taken enemies in them. Bosses being the same for the most part.

Also the new Heroic strike playlist includes all of the TTK strikes, and the Mars strikes since they have Taken enemies in them. So there are 7 total you can experience.

The Mars strikes MUST be weighted in the rotation, as I've played them so many freaking times since TTK launched.

Can someone give me a quick explanation for this game?

Is it basically a shooter with lite MMO touches as far as gear, leveling and raiding?
How much content is there to solo? Is the game significantly more fun with other people?

Same case as me. I'm scratching my head as to why this doesn't exist for everyone who owns only the first game and nothing else if they want us to get hooked. I don't want to pay $60 just yet.

If you are only going to play solo, I wouldn't play Destiny.

I paid way more than that (80+40+20) and I still got off with a steal. I played like 300 hours of this game so far, I didn't spend a year twiddling my thumbs and doing nothing, I've been playing the shit out of it the whole time.

The way I see it, Destiny used to be my favorite game I ever played. Now it's the best game I ever played.

Alpha player here.

bought the Ghost edition for $150 dollars and just got the $80 collectors edition.

I don't feel cheated in the slightest. year one was some of the most fun I have ever had with my friends while gaming.

I don't know what it is with hand cannons now, but I can't seem to get used to them. I've been trying to get a decent low-mid RoF Legendary Scout Rifle as a replacement, but I can't seem to find any.

Only play the game if you have friends. It is not fun solo.

Does anyone know the best way to get an exotic after I've beaten the Taken King story?
