DestinyGAF Clan -> Request thread

To be honest I have taken enough abuse that I don't want to have anything to do with this anymore, just back from a ban and don't want to lose my temper and get banned again.

Have added a few people on psn and will be happy to add more and play with them on Destiny.

See you out there guys.

I love the Gaf moderators, but actually I do not support them extending their power of vito over our personal gaming allegiances and choices if that is what you are suggesting here.

I think plain DestinyGAF is potentially ill conceived given the likely huge popularity of this game.

DestinyGAF PS4, DestinyGAF Xbone etc helps solve this issue, and avoids the potential for technical equipment differences and platform loyalty causing either particular unfriendly or unbalanced gameplay for whatever reason.

Additionally in this case we could choose matches like DestinyGAF PS4 v DestiinyGAF Xbone which would not otherwise be possible..

Don't worry about it dude. No reason why we can't have 2 groups/clans. If they limit the clans to 500 as they did in the Alpha then not everyone will get in anyway so I'm happy there's an alternative available.

People need to just calm down TBH. Arguing over what group they play games with, It really doesn't matter people i'm sure you'll enjoy it just as much despite what your clan tag says.

There isn't any cross platform play in Destiny, unfortunately.

Sorry if this has been mentioned before but Bungie supports Alliances for their Clans / Groups.
DestinyGAF can be the blanket group with alliances to all the sub groups like DestinyGAF PS4, DestinyGAF XboxOne, etc.

We will be creating subdivisions for specific platforms that will lead into smaller Clans under 'DestinyGAF'. Specific admins will be appointed for each platforms/time zones.
Whatever it is, we are a family and under one roof we are stronger as a Clan. Don't worry about the platforms specific just yet we are 26 days away from BETA for god sake. Get into the main Clan and socialize, exchange IDs, get to know each other, select your Fireteam brothers, share your mementos, your adventues and enjoy your time there as we head into the World Bungie has so kindly build. In the end what matters, is who you're running with, who you represent and the family. This will be my only say in this. Let the others know.

No way buddy, the insults came thick and fast from people involved with the other group ....... have been completely soured against having anything to do with that group I'm sorry to say.

Having to fend off accusations and insults was likely driving me too post things in anger that would get me banned, so I have walked away from this group also.


Will be happy to add people on PSN and play Destiny with gaffers, at the end of the day that's what it is was all about.

I did not mean to insult you in any way, and I again want to extend you a sincere apology if you felt that I did. That's all I can do.
 
I'm part of both groups so I really don't care what the outcome is. I'd rather end the drama. But some of attitude of the members in one group of coming here to pretend Jesus was crucified is a bit much.

I'd rather see what the people prefer but unless you have a lot of admins having to manage like 4 consoles is going to be chaos. Discuss it with Shadow thoroughly. Convince him it's the best option. Don't just tell him it is. If a mod hasn't intervened yet it means that theoretically nothing is wrong on paper but if we want to play together shit needs to get done properly. Jesus christ.

Until then I'll continue to help out in here. I'm heading to work though can't accept people till I'm back or on my lunch break.

There is only one DestinyGAF, it was conceived by members of HaloGAF long ago, when it was mostly only Halo fans and bungie fans excited about Destiny and not fans excited about exclusivity, or lead platforms. I think one of HaloGAF's best members Duncan actually has the Destiny OT too.

Setup by a click without any consultation with anyone who then set out to attack people for having a different idea.

There are no rules on this, nor does anyone have the right to claim to be "official" anything.


Plenty of people have been excited about the game who had nothing to do with HaloGAF but sure you tell yourself that anyway.

Well it serves to reason that Halo fans excited about Destiny back in 2010 would conceive and create DestinyGAF just like they created HaloGAF no? In fact, two longtime HaloGAF members, slightly live and blueblur1 have even made and run the official DestinyGAF Twitter for the past few years.

Before early 2013, no one really knew any launch plans, alpha, beta plans.

Edit: Also, guys like NCSUDuncan who I think has the Destiny OT(correct me if I'm wrong) runs HaloGAF.com, and the guys who have run the DestinyGAF Twitter account for years also run the HaloGAF Twitter account. Has nothing to do with HaloGAF per se either, just that you'd think that the people passionate enough to run and support communities for one of Bungie's series, would do the same for the next. Just as I'm sure whoever runs the community for GTA V, would do so for GTA VI, the community for Last of Us would take charge for the next Naughty Dog IP.

What is the big infighting issue here?

Hey buddy whatever you want, but no matter who did what because they used to play another game before gives nobody no right to assume they have rights to be anything, nor does it give them the right or others who support them or whatever to attack and insult people because they dared to do something themselves.

Exactly what you are saying was what I brought up yesterday and I glad to see I was right, a group unto itself thinks it has exclusive rights to this stuff when it has no such thing.
 
No exclusive rights at all. There is only one DestinyGAF, it usually encompasses all Destiny fans on NeoGAF. I'm not sure what your necessarily upset about? Just like HaloGAF is the entire Halo community on NeoGAF.

Maybe I'm late to the thread, but usually with OT and community stuff, it is first come, first serve and these things are usually ironed out beforehand. If you read a lot of the Destiny threads, Bungie threads, even old Halo threads, there has long been talk of DestinyGAF. Why would you split it amongst console users as well?

Edit: Just checked, Spawnling has the official Destiny OT and he claimed it back in December 2012.

Also, don't know why you folks are getting heated, I joined GAF in 2013, and even I knew about DestinyGAF being a thing.

It is purely elitism and it has been the main driver behind this, displayed perfectly yesterday with claims by PyschoRaven that it had been "stolen" from him.
 
We're not splitting destinygaf. There will most likely be an OT where most discussion will take place in . This is meant to be for a group of ps4 players that will eventually play together in clans that won't have to sift through other console users for ps4 exclusive clans. That's all it really is. Title needs to change to something similar.

This "I called dibs" mentality is ridiculous. Let's find a solution instead of claiming "we did it first but told no one so it's ours I'm the baby daddy"

This had nothing to do with the OT or community thread or anything to do with NeoGAF threads at all.

This was a PS4 specific group created in the vein most other multiplatform games have had groups / clans setup, segregated by platform ....... whether it's CoD or Battlefield for example, GTA online was another.

Getting heated, we had a barrage of people in here accusing people of all sorts because somebody setup a platform specific group that went against there long laid but not made public plans.

Anyway, whatever whatever .......fuck it.
 
Do people care about wether they are admins in these groups or not? I personally only care about being part of the group and that's it. I don't care who runs the show and who he/she is as long as they care about the game and the community.

This. People seem to be fixated at the destinygaf name, "oh no this can't be THE destinygaf, we fans long before you were born" etc.

All this group really is is a PS4 specific clan. Relax, the OT will be Destinygaf, like always, what a weird hysteria.

Not elitism at all. You just have to be careful not to step on toes. You've been here since 2010. Did you ever ask in any of the Bungie, Halo, even Destiny related threads about DestinyGAF or a group? Did you ever know about the DestinyGAF Twitter?

You keep saying it's elitism, it's simply a case of, first come, first serve. If someone makes a thread of the World Cup and is organizing a pool, are you then going to make your own, say this is just for my country users only, even though the original thread would have encompassed you, and then you say oh, it's elitism?

I joined early last year, I knew DestinyGAF was a thing and would incorporate all users on GAF, just like for many other communities, even multiplatforms. Don't know why you bringing PyschoRaven's name up. I went through your posts in this thread, you've done it numerous times, insulting him and saying he accused you of theft. Take it to a mod or PM's or something if you have a disagreement with him.

Wasn't much politeness coming for yourself or others, somebody might have setup a platform specific group and I was an admin for a day but we didn't go in and insult people.

I am in both groups, but joined DestinyGAF group and clan first as it was the first created at that time. I will stay in DGAF PS4 group but will be keeping the DGAF tag, I'm a bit weird I don't want "PS4" next to it in the game.

Looks a bit silly.

Other than that I will be playing with all of you anyway. Love and hugs.

Length of time in the forum does not derive any extra authority to anyone, you can forget about that shit .... go ask a mod if in doubt.

Secondly I am not accusing PyschoRaven of accusing me of theft, he made a posts saying it had been stolen from him (I did not make this so he would not have directed anything towards me) he also made those claims against somebody else in the other group when all they had done was secure the name and where waiting to pass the reigns to him.

Those posts where an example of the mentality and the only reason I bring them up.

The fact that there's even some sort of etiquette surrounding a system made to give people choice just seems weird and a bit creepy. If HaloGAF was this exclusive then maybe I did best to stay away.

After reading stuff in here that is how I felt about the other group to be honest. If this groups doesn't exist I'll just play with real life friends like usual.

Same here. Having a neutral clan tag just seems nicer, especially if there is no cross platform play between Playstation and Xbox players in the first place.

People are not understanding this, or are misunderstanding the entire situation. This PS4 group/clan can be gathered into the main DestinyGAF group. From there one out you could have multiple groups for platforms or timezones..... It's easy as hell but I think some people misunderstand everything and just think its about control or whatever.

I'd say do what everybody wants but for communication sake and just the easyness of it all, it's better if there is one group with multiple sub-groups/clans for platform and continent/timezones.

Jburton I did not mean to offend anyone and especially you. I hope I have not aggrivated you in any way. This should all be a happy occasion but I just feel like this has all been a big ass misunderstanding lol. Even Admiral Woofington admitted that he'd rather see this group/clan fall into the main one as well yea?
