Deus Ex: Human Revolution |OT| I never asked for this... It gave me lemon-lime

yeah I wished it was rendered in game instead of the FMV with horrible horrible compression. It's not like they had a size restriction on the PC they could of done h264 for god sakes.

I noticed that as well. I wish it was all Realtime. At first, I thought it was OnLive's compression, but when I actually started playing, it looked much better.

I can't really think of any multiplatform games that have high-end video encoding on PC. Publishers don't want to bother I guess.

Wait, does HR have that ? And yeah I agree it's jarring to be playing Darksiders at high res ´+ ridiculous amounts of AA only to be pulled out of it by a 320x240 pixel lowbitrate jaggy washed out mess of a video.

it might be a licensing issue? Bink is cheap? What a shitty codec, i have no clue what codec it uses to do the video but i assume it's Bink

I got the Augmented Edition, but I can't seem to find the bonus content anywhere.

Anyone know?

If you're on Steam you have to go under the tools section in your library and download the content from there.

Thanks! Found it.

Woah, hold it. The cutscenes are compressed with bink? That sucks (why do devs still use bink?) I am guessing this effects the console versions too?

Has the performance in the hub area been addressed? The leaked version ran at a perfect 60 fps for me in all locations EXCEPT the main hub. As you would walk around, the game would randomly appear to slowdown. If you stopped and looked around, you'd see that the framerate was still 60 fps as soon as the hitching ended.

In addition, there was a bug in the leaked build when using iron sights or zooming in a target while in cover where the camera zoomed in at 30 fps rather than 60. This did not always occur, but if you did run into it the problem remained until restarting the game.
It seems to be perfectly fine on my PII X4 955 and 560 Ti.

For all the talk of multiple AA options, it's disappointing that there is no MSAA at the very least. EdgeAA, FXAA & MLAA don't do the kind of justice to the art style that SGSSAA + MSAA would.
I agree completely. "Here, lots of AA options, all of which suck compared to plain MSAA".

Was on the fence until I read the quip about the lack of multiplayer being a con on the gamesradar review and I'm like you know what? I do want this game. Just got home with it, very nice case!

Sorry if this has been asked, but does the PC version support a gamepad? Some people online say yes, but Steam doesn't mention it.

Yep, native gamepad support, with proper button promps and all.

Also, as per earlier discussions, I haven't found one single auto hacking tool in the game yet. The NPC who was selling them in the preview code isn't selling them this time around. Unless anybody else has found one, I assume they are indeed part of the pre-order pack.

Oh, and
sneaking in and out of Derelict Row undetected was intense as fuck.

Ahahaha got the worst possible outcome for the first mission. Was tempted to load the last save but i'm determined to play the game without turning back any of the outcomes or decisions made.

Can we start discussing this on a mission by mission basis to see how people's experiences have differed. For instance, I just read the below spoiler, and freaked out!

First mission question:
if you take too long exploring the offices, you get a warning from the boss about how the situation has changed.. Does that have any affect on if the hostages live or die?
I kinda want to start over. :(

That's REALLY annoying, and kind of makes me want to go back to try to save the hostages but oh well. I'm also intrigued by the mention of a bomb, and the code to disarm it - did I leave an armed bomb behind in the off-site Sarif facility after that mission? If so...shit.

As for how I let that mission play out, I saved the lady and let the leader go. I'm hoping it pays off big time later on.

Right guys for this stuttering when turning. I disabled V-Sync which smoothed out a lot. Also when playing with the 360 controller the stuttering isn't there. I don't know if its emulating shitty controller input lag lol. But V-Sync seems the main offender.

I noticed too that with a controller and Vsync off the situation is better, but it does not disappear. And I mean, I tried to run the game at something like 800x600 lol and the stuttering is still there, annoying as fuck. I have not played the leaked release for long but I never had these issues.

one thing to consider is that
once you get to the end with zeke the swat team will clear out the area so you can go back and explore, so you're better off going ahead and saving the hostages when you can. It's easy to miss that area.

I'm also wondering if there are any tips for improving my framerate?

I'm on an i3 3.2 GHz, ATI HD 5670 (512MB) and 8GB RAM and am getting 30-40 FPS at 1080p with basically all the flourishes turned off. Is it worth going to 1440x900, or is there something else I can disable to make it all a bit smoother?

I'm far more concerned with frame rate than graphical details, but the difference in enjoyment from 1080p to 900 is quite significant, at least in my eyes?

Bink is a cancer on this industry, as far as I'm concerned. Terrible compression.

If the stutterings there regardless of res it could be a CPU bottleneck but im running an i7 @ 2.67GHz, it should be able to more than cope.

Everything on/maxed at my monitor's native res of 1680x1050.

Thanks. This tells me the stutter is not a CPU problem. For those of you who are seeing the stutter, please post what driver you are using.

I'm running the latest WHQL nvidia drivers.

Find me a game using movies compressed with Bink that actually look great and I might reconsider. I realize it's a very small drain on resources, which is why it is likely used, but the results are never good.

280.16 has been nothing other than trouble for me. Rolled back to 275.33, much more stable with regards to gaming in generall.

Im running CCC 11.6. Stutters on two separate brands cant be GPU related. Confused!!!!!

Sounds like a video card issue as I have Q9550 core 2 quad + 5850 and so far I'm getting 40-60 fps with everything cranked to max+ MLAA.

So... how's the PS3 version? I'm holding off on the PC version until I get through the game with my wife and until some cool mods come out (hopefully).

Sorry if answered before.

Yeah, I've been reliably informed that this graphics card is pretty shit. Unfortunately, I can't upgrade it as I'm on an iMac (with a Windows 7 partition). I would gladly spend a few hundred dollars to dramatically upgrade my gaming performance, but alas this doesn't seem possible.

Any ideas people? :(
