Dev states that their game will have lower fps on PS5 than on XSX. Blames Sony (...then Unity, then deletes original Tweet)

Well PS5 is slower console. It only makes sense it will run multiplatform games worse.
Are people shocked when Xbox One plays some game at lower resolution or framerate than on PS4 ?

Sony is not giving a ps5 dev kit to a one man studio with questionable history of work product at best. This is just proof that fanboys will believe anything they see on Twitter no matter how ridiculous it is as long as it fits their narrative.

The guy is a "developer" making up bs and spreading it just to prop Xbox and diss PS5. Not the first one either. Sorry but as far as the fanboy Olympics go the green team has been putting records on the board and it's just pre-season.

So even if he will redirect audio resources to the dedicated chip this game will be still GPU limited.
With lower CPU load PS5 will underclock CPU and make GPU run little bit faster, so offloading load from CPU can have effect on GPU bottlenecked jobs.
I have no idea how he has so much trouble, because that game looks like some PS3 indie. From my experience Unity is really bad engine, like I never saw any unity game which run 100% fine.
 

Of course he is trolling now PS5 die-hard fans but people should be really no surprised his game cant run at 120fps. Orphan is running 4K 60fps on XOX and PS5 GPU is not 2x times faster compared to supercharged 6TF Polaris (xbox one x GPU wasnt just simple RX580).
 
I want xbox to be successful. Outside of that, I couldn't care less about some guys game getting 120fps..😅 Fuckin ridiculous..

Sure, some people's will. And an even smaller number will do 4k at 120hz. But even for those that do have an alternative mode, if it isn't the default option, it often won't get used. You have to realise we are talking about a small fraction of the eventual userbase of these machines who will see any game run at 120 fps. For most people it won't matter at all (though their purchase may well be decided by the dick swinging they see online, even if they never actually see the benefit of it!).
 
Yea right , we rly don't need that game can stay at 0fps I won't play it none should play that shitfest , get Donkey Kong on SNES looks much better and you will have fun with it.
 
This thread really got some legs on it lol. He's the equivalent of a Sony fanboy but in indie dev form. The outrage over this is great.

But not surprising give there was even death threats towards an engineer of their own console.

Maybe the issue is not how much CPU the ps5 will have.

I am certain that Unity can run a game that is "basically a static 2d background with a handful of 2d sprites on it" at 1024 FPS even on my laptop with integrated intel graphics.
His "game" is basically a screensaver with a small fish swimming around.

If the issue is not, PS5 power, or Unity, where could the issue be?

Here is another insane idea. You could enjoy multi-platform games and exclusives even on a weaker hardware. Could you imagine that?

XSX has the better gpu,cpu,bandwidth.... but the gap is no where near the point to where you're going to get 120fps vs 60fps unless MS has updated the specs.

The dev did mention that its an issue with getting unity workind on the PS5 dev kits.

I dunno. Purely going by his own words, since he first posted a bait tweet, only to then post 2 more tweets stating it's due to Unity not having the proper features to make full use of the PS5 architecture. Which makes it a Unity-related issue by his own statements.

So I assume that PS5 architecture is a bit different than your typical architecture.

Or it's all FUD.

Or Mark Cerny made a mess of a system, because he's incompetent.
I guess you can pick any of the reasons.

Game is capped at 60fps on PS5, but it doesn't mean unlocked framerate would be at 61fps. Most likely it's around 100fps, but not high enough to sustain 120fps.

I hear you. But looking at the game(looks like a nice,cute little indie title)there should be no issue getting it to reach 120fps locked. But then again, he is only one person working on multiple platforms.

Your comparison is flawed, because you are talking about different game (different code), so there's no point of reference. Also even if Dirt 5 will run 120fps on both consoles you still have to know on what settings and resolution (maybe PS5 version will use checkerboard rendering to hit 120fps). Dirt 5 is not a simple game like Orphan and I bet there will be many settings to tweak performance.

He doesn't have devkit for neither console. I don't know if that matters for your fantasy world building, but now you know.

That's not what he said with his other tweets. He said that it's a limitation with the software that he's using he also doesn't have a PS5 development kit.

Maybe look for the post where he explains his situation with Unity.

The gap will make some games run a lot better on XSX. But not this Ecco The Dolphin clone. Maybe this game should not be intensive enough to do that. Just maybe.
