Just played the PS3 version. DMC games feel like home with the sixaxis pad. God it felt so much nicer controlling nero. The X360 pad works, but the ps3 pad is much better.

Other things of note:

I got my PS3 on HDMI and 360 on component, and yeah the 360 version does look slightly sharper. But the PS3 version had better color saturation for me. Much more vibrant.

Audio wise, no contest. X360 DD sounded a bit muffled on my surround system while the PS3 version was crystal clear. I'm just using a regular 5.1 system as well. I was shocked at how much more clear the sounds and music were on the PS3.

Of course the final kicker will be the dual shock 3 controller when I get it.

I wouldn't go buy a PS3 if you only have a X360 to play this game. They are both close overall.

What kind of receiver and sound system do you have? I am looking for one to take advantage of the uncompressed audio in the game.

You just need a receiver than can decode audio from HDMI. I suggest the Sony DG910 (I have this) or Onkyo 605 as good basic choices.

Alright - just played the demo. Impressions:

+ Great graphics
+ 60 FPS
+ Awesome response

- Enemy A.I. - button mashing...
- Music
- Camera / fixed angles

Fun factor (out of 10)...7.5

When are they coming out over here in the States?
Not sure. I found a store on Ebay that sold me and Bob one for 49.99 +$10 shipping. It shipped from California on Tuesday and it got here to NC today. It really makes a huge difference even though it is last gen ;)

But I agree with the controller.

Spring I think. I am so glad I bought mine now. You know with that new tax break thing, you can afford a DS3 when it comes out:D Up to 600 bucks in May hopefully.

You know you won't be able to say the same thing again when the full game comes out. PS3 version will be uncompressed audio.

I wouldn't put a number on a demo.

So, any word on Home/Trophy support for this title? would be really really nice and add some extra goals to the game

Tried playing some more. I've gotten pretty good at just frame charging with most of Nero's moves (everything but the ridiculously long second sword combo string) pretty consistently, at least to the point where it doesn't dominate my concentration. Great fun, can't wait to play the full version.

Jibberish to me.

I'm so out of the loop.

Well I was able to finally defeat Berial on what I think was about my fifth try.

Using Buster when the flames go out seems to be the key.

I just kept trying to get up to his head, slash his head a few times, re-adjust my position and repeat slashing.

Not sure if I'll buy the game, may be too tough for me. I assume the battles get much, much more difficult than the demo battle with Berial.

Oh yeah, I don't get the charging thing at all.

I just learned the hard way that if you've got 720p disabled in your PS3 system settings, the game downshifts to 480p. No 1080p, no 1080i, no 350z.

For the love of GOD people, turn 720p back on!

Sorry if this has been covered...

As much as I love the demo, some things irk me, like they irked Bebpo:

a) Camera is sooooooo bad this time, what the hell happened?

b) Why the fuck is sprint not assigned to a button? Makes no sense. Movement is slow and unsatisfying.

c) The Exceed system may seem deep and all, but in the demo I'm just not feeling it. The window is too small with no rewards in execution. It barely does any more damage than a regular move would, I don't see the point of it in the demo. Hopefully its worth using in the full game.

Still, regardless of these complaints, I think this'll be the best DMC game to date.

great demo, PS3 seems clean and crisp on my tv while 360 is dark and saturated.

this might be the 1st DMC i'll be able to finish since I didn't have hard time with those ice dudes. compared to the reapers

Anyone else bored senseless by that demo, so many random, pointless rooms and corridors and Nero's combat felt kinda lame compared to Dante DMC3. At least the game was pretty I guess but all I felt in that demo was DMC3 level design with less stylish combat and high res everything, meh.

It's all about the game play.

I beat the demo pretty well, 360 version, seemed ace with only a few complaints. Id like to be able to shoot and charge the sword at the same time, the camera angles can be dumb sometimes, and I wish I could change the controls a bit in the demo.

K i just played both ps3/360 on my 720p pioneer. ( both hooked via hdmi )

ok..nice game on both. nice moves.. nice frame rate on both.

the 360 gets the notch on better textures, lighting, everything looks sharper.

as for the game, considering Im a ninja gaiden nuts!! who in their right mind would dare to compare the 2 ?? ohh wait fucking Shane from 1up. :lol

DMC4 is decent at best, fun yes, easy mechanics, slides, air combos....but somehow he feels....stiff. pre-determined camera angles and this overall " boxed in " feeling. I keep wishing / wanting to jump off but area was blocked off , mind u he was standing on a balcony...no u must find blue orb....extend arm....yawn.

whatever, not for me, I'll wait for gaiden II, meanwhile sigma will keep me happy.

I just dont see wtf all the fuss about this game was. rental ~

I'm a NG fan too, but you obviously never played DMC3 if that's your attitude (and I'm not talking about the special edition, I'm talking about the hard-as-hell original DMC3)

I just don't understand how a NG fan cannot be a DMC fan, and vice versa. I can understand preferring one over the other (lord knows I do...) but they are the twin pillars of the action genre. The two kings. The yin and the yang. The alpha and the omega.

I find the mid combo revving viscerally enjoyable. The arm is a lot of fun. I'm not really feeling the gun.

if anyone says you can't be a fan of both, they're obviously a fanboy of some sort. As for the gun, that's always been the case, except for 2, where that's all you did.

They play completely different from each other. I can't see how anyone wouldn't like both but that is just because I think both kick all sorts of ass (enjoying the DMC4 demo more now). I could totally see how someone could like either or.

hmmm, my reaction to DMC4 demo was like..."so enemies are pretty much fodder for cool combos you can pull off". It's like if the game is somekind of gigantic "practice mode" where you can try out doing crazy combos.

On the other hand, NG is more of an advanture game, killing relatively skilled enemies while you stay afloat...

I got a White DS3 for $57 shipped from play asia. I just googled the play asia coupons until I found an available $8 off coupon. If I went to Best Buy when they are released and bought it, it would have cost me $52.50 after tax, so it really only cost me about $6 extra to import it than it would to wait, and I have it now. I think the extra $6 was well worth it to get it now, especially since I needed a second controller anyway.

The rumble in the DMC4 demo is very well done. :D

Disgustingly huge fan of both right here.

you could say the same about God of War, but that's its own thing too.

I found myself using it even less than I did in DMC3 (fuck Gunslinger, except for a few select moves). I pretty much only use it in midair for hovering. I guess I could try charging it, but I usually don't bother.

At least on my TV, the difference between the 360 and PS3 version is much more than subtle, it's almost jarring. I don't really have a controller preference, though I thought I would be going with the PS3 version just for the controller, but it ended up feeling the same on the 360. But my god, the aliasing is really bad on the PS3.

Well, we're talking about a demo here. Hopefully, the final product requires skill to move on, in which enemies have decent A.I.

People/reviewers have already said it's a damn hard game. Not sure where the concern is coming from, the beginning portions of DMC1 were pretty easy as well.

Anyway, just played the PS3 version. I didn't expect the cutscenes to be 60 fps. Is this the same with the X360 version?

ugh, you do realize that you're comparing a full game to a gimped demo likely on the easiest difficulty?

I was able to finish the 10 minute demo with 1:30 to spare, easier than I thought.

No one is going for most red orbs, come on lets compete in something. I just got 10881.

Still learning the reving mid-combo.
