So I downloaded this fairly quickly. Like everyone else I quickly noticed the right bumper and had to groan
. Thus far its worked out pretty well, though I'll most likely change it in retail. Was frustrated about the 10 minute time limit, and didn't get all the way through. Its late so I'll go at it again tommorow. Time simply expired on me.
Graphics: Pretty solid. Didn't get a big opportunity to really take a step back and look at them, but I was pleased. Great textures and the lighting is pretty good. The sun falling below the horizon is a pleasant sight, and the orange glow mixed with the shaded corridors of the town looked pretty good, and the water in the game is nice as well. Game seemed to run without hiccups, and overall its a very smooth experience.
Gameplay: I'm not sure what difficulty it was on, but I found it to be fairly easy through both the Berial mode and the time limit mode. I'm not going to comment on the difficulty to harshly as its something that could get harder via retail, harder difficulty modes, or an increase in difficulty as the game progresses. Health around the demo was pretty frequent, and certain attacks on Berial seemed to let loose an assortment of green health pickups to aid you.
Now, Nero was interesting. When I first started it I was annoyed by his limits and the lackluster Blue Rose in comparison to what was available by default for Dante in DMC3, but not to much longer after the time trial starts he accesses some new abilities. Armed with a long extending devil arm it seemed like the ghouls wouldn't have a chance against Nero early on in the game. Keeping distance one would simply use Blue Rose, and it seemed like it would be no problem at all to spam the demon arm pull to bring enemy fodder to you, and then follow up with a devastating air launch. Just judging from what was available in the demo, it would seem like Neros air juggling abilities will be nearly limitless. One can air hike an enemy, jump in the air and just go wild, slam him into the ground and pull him straight back up to continue the madness.
Right now I'm not going to say whether I think it was a disappointment or not until I gain more facts about the demo and play it again when I'm not so tired.
