Devil May Cry 4 SE: Vergil, Trish & Lady Playable, Release Date 18th of June

so uh, does trish have two pulls then

she had the electro pull that wasn't demonstrated in the capcomunity stream (but was in the leaked chinese stream) and the round trip pull

either way it looks like making ridiculous combos with her is gonna be pretty simple due to the nature of all her "hold" moves and enemy position changing moves
it will be real interesting to see what comes out of experimentation/exploration of her tools

She also has two launchers. I think she's designed so that she has duplicative move types for when she has Sparda equipped or it's out during Round Trip.

Anyone know if the Japanese version will come with an English option? I really want this on a disc!

The recent Japanese stream strongly suggests there will be completely English options and menus in the Japanese version, but we have no confirmation. I don't think you'd run any risk getting the Japanese version if you're looking for the e-Capcom pizza box edition. Otherwise, play it safe and get the Asian version which is guaranteed to have English everything (and is cheaper to boot).

But that's the beauty of DMC, it's controls, targeting system, and combat allow for you to handle multiple encounter types.
You need moves with wide hit boxes to be able to handle large number of enemies. Otherwise you end up with the awkwardness that is DMC4 Dante in LDK mode.

Thanks, I'll probably wait until the game releases for confirmation.

I'm okay as long as they mix things up. Going all out on a horde of marionette's is fun once and awhile.

And, seriously, that's all I think is necessary. Having a moveset that should be adequate to handle various types of enemy encounters, from a large hoard, to a few elites, to human-sized rivals, big bosses and anything else that fits in-between.

That's what I see glimpses of when I see three new characters, and I'm hoping DMC5 will be a game that will better showcase that.

Yeah, but my main issue is that Vergil, Trish, and Lady seem designed with LDK in mind. Some of the hitboxes on Vergil are ludicrous.

Trish is magnificent. I hope she has enough tools for the pros to dig into. The pulls and lightning traps could yield some good stuff.

So the Western release really is going to be digital only?

Yes. They've confirmed this. I suppose there's a tiny chance that they'd release a physical version down the line, like with DuckTales, but that appears to be an isolated event. Every other digital only Capcom game in the west since then has stayed digital only.

When details were first coming out about Trish, I wasn't very impressed and she was my least anticipated character to play as but after that stream she looks awesome.

Thinking back on this, I can definitely see how Vergil is a template for where they want the series to go. He has so much open variety, and it's a nice blend of large sweeping moves, concentrated powerful attacks, and quick movement. Seamless and effortless transitions.

It's an important balance because Vergil really just seems too powerful at this point, but it's almost as if he's essentially been tossed into a game where he doesn't belong.

It'd be nice if the pacing and variety that a DMC5 introduces would be the scale of combat rather than just platforming or things like dice games.

I feel dmc3 Dante has better range than DMC4 Dante, and his crazy combos could suck in A group of enemies easily.

That's part of it, I think. And some of Vergil's pause combos are now "crazy combo" esque.

And it's also weapon variety. Ironically, it's Dante with the specific and more reserved hitboxes in general. In DMC3, Rebellion was the nice balance between power, speed, and range. The other weapons filled out around Rebellion: you had weapons that allowed for more powerful strikes, speedy attacks, or better crowd control with hitboxes surrounding him. In DMC4, Dante's Rebellion is essentially his longest range crowd control melee weapon. Lucifer's unique moveset doesn't really fit the same criteria. And to access any larger hitbox moves requires expenditure of DT for piercing stinger or kick13.

Hm, I haven't kept too abreast of the announcements; are they reworking any of the enemies? My main gripe with the game is that there were several rather common and annoying enemies, like the Fausts/Mephistoles. I'm hoping they adjust them a bit to remove their more annoying points.

Hey guys, does this deal look legit? I don't want to wait until September to play this game, but I don't want to get ripped off. The price is pretty good, would you recommend it?

Yes, it's legit. If you're in the U.S., it's been stated by Gregaman that the game will release in the summer.

Not that we know of yet. They're certainly not going to make drastic changes to the way they work. What was your main gripe with them? The new characters look like they'll tear right through enemies like those.

Several enemies I felt were more annoying than anything, like, as I mentioned: The fausts (Flying Crab things.) Those things were basically a cope of the reapers from DMC1, except with a lot more "keep away" added and temp armor. It was very unsatisfying fighting them compared to the original reapers.

I actually find them an interesting retake on the reapers. And they are pretty easy to deal with..

Ten minutes!

Holy Shit!!! ok, do anyone know the price for the PS4/Xbox One version?

So, looks like Capcom's 5 cities tour event has started:

Fans who went there played the game and shared their opinions on twitter, this one got me interested because of the Google Translate version of it

Devil 4SE Nero of costume
Fun!

Or this

Capcom over-the-counter experience meeting the first day than Sapporo. DMC4SE first soup information Kos Nero is one found bar! - !! Costume of Jill!

Nah, i think i'm reding too much in that.

I am pretty sure the Vergil costume was supposed to be DLC for DMC4 back when they didn't plan to have a playable Vergil.

Also... Dante/Vergil have a costume similar to their father Sparda...

Nero has a costume similar to his father Vergil...

i'll get it after a price cut. looks cool but 19.99 is all i want to pay.
We might get it at that price in the US since it's going to be downloadable only here.

Saw the Trish video and her combo potential is looking quite interesting. Itsuno squeezed everything out of her basic toolset just like with Nero. She doesn't have much but every tool in her arsenal has a very specific function that is core to her playstyle just like Nero.

Swag level?

Rewatching these two combat introductions, I am in love with Vergil's DT rapid slash. Just so fucking insane and powerful looking.

Trish's move set looking pretty good too, especially the lightning streaks to set up stunning enemies. I do like how they still tweak already existing moves just enough and change their utility that the characters still look like they suit different play styles.

The wait's gonna be harder to take as this game gets closer. Anxious for Lady footage next week though.

I really like how Trish's devil trigger "transformation" is just putting on shades. It's perfectly in-character.

It'd be breaking tradition for her to have anything else.

Actually; Trish probably was characterised significantly more faithfully than Dante in DMC2...

It says Nero has a Vergil costume (... no, it's not "Jill").

A shame. RE5 Jill's outfit would suit him perfectly.

It really is tradition at this point. I wonder in DMC5 if they go multiple character route would allow Trish to have an original dT.
