Hey guys i'm the long lost cousin from the mother side of Itsuno-san, the director of the Devil May Cry series. I have some exciting news for y'all...

if you agree to deposit 5$ into my Vietnamese bank account first :D

Don't kill me. I have problems

Metal Gear RIsing 2 is as dead as Silent Hills and DMC5 is almost certainly going to no show E3. Turn down the hype meter brehs.

Really hoping for DMC5 on a working and stable Panta Rhei engine. What the hell is taking Deep Down so long...
The engine is taking Deep Down so long.

Low chance DMC5 is on PR. If SFV couldn't cut it then DMC5 probably won't be on it either. I am thinking UE4 is safest bet. Maybe a modified MT Framework but we have not yet seen a proper current gen game running on MT Framework from Capcom.

I'm gonna be honest, all this action game news has been the only thing to get me into full "holy fuck E3 is next week, let's go" mode. Splatoon has had my attention most of the time between the end of my semester and now gaming wise, so for this all to drop on us out of the blue is just too whoa.

I am also hoping that the Platinum title is something off the wall but ripe for their expertise.

If one were to stick to console for this release.. should they go with PS4? I've got both and just curious as to which would be the better experience.

i personally think the ps4 is an all around better put together system. xbox one is still fine though

It may be that the PS4 will run the game at a slightly higher resolution. But yeah overall it should largely be the same experience.

Add to any order and it's free, whether preorders or whatever.

With ANY order of a physical item from June 6th to July 7th - no exceptions - before making the order, there will be an option to add both the product you're interested in as well as GT6 as a free gift. Just click "add both to cart" and it will automatically process. If you made an order within that period but forgot to add this gift, send cs@play-asia.com a message and they'll be more than happy to help modify your order.

It's the Asian version, but it seems the same as far as I know?

Cross posting from the other thread.

If you're already ordering the physical version of DMC4SE, then it doesn't hurt to add this to your cart as well. I mean... free is free.

Back on topic, my hype level has invaded my dreams, because last night I dreamed I was watching E3 and they had a playable demo of DMC5 available right then as of the announcement. I know that isn't possible, but it was in my dream and I woke up super motivated.

I had a dream that I was invited to test out DMC5 and was actually allowed to post my impressions on the game (like that MGSV guy).

I was going to post my impressions but I realized I can't even make a topic! And then I woke up...

On the other hand I am not even sure MGR2 is even in development. It's possible it is but for me it's likely than DMC5.

Before the Great Kojima Purge I was pretty much sure we're getting MGR2. There was that weird not-teaser business that pretty much confirmed it for me back in the day. But now I'm seriously worried, even if it was being made Konami might have cancelled it now.
I still hope that's the Platinum game about to be announced at E3.

But yeah, DMC5 seems guaranteed right now. Good to see Capcom's back on track.

That "2" logo they showed off was for the 2 year anniversary of MGR. But it also could've been a stealth teaser for MGR2. I still believed though.

I'm hoping it was far enough along for cancellation to make no sense - even then, Konami's aptitude for pettiness and incompetence might have ruined things anyway. I still want to believe it's going to make it; it was clearly still in active development early this year if the teases are anything to go by, and Konami seems to want to shit out at least a few outsourced Metal Gears before leaving consoles forever.

I honestly don't believe that for one bit. Who the fuck celebrates a 2 year anniversary by sticking a blink-and-you'll-miss-it 2 in the middle of a video?

This.

The only reason I'm questioning MGR2 is because of the fallout between Kojima (who was the one always pushing for PG) and Konami and the uncertain future of the series in general.

Pretty much.

I believed it to be a teaser for MGR2 back then and I honestly still think that's what it was. The question is what happened with it next and whether or not it'll ever be released IMO.

Not to veer too off topic but why would Kojima being ousted at Konami affect MGR 2 at all? He wasn't really involved with the first Rising, which is why he had it outsourced to Platinum in the first place, right?

He was the one who not only pushed for MGR but pushed for Platinum making it in the first place. The original version of MGR made by Konami wasn't good enough for Kojima as he wanted a more action oriented title and he felt that his team wasn't up to task as they are not as familiar with the title.

This was all stated by Kojima in an interview he did on MGR right around it was re-revealed.

how bout Itsuno and Kamiya dream team instead?
Kamiya is kinda busy with Scalebound right now and I would like for him to stay focused on that. Kamiya should just do what he does best... keep making bold new action IPs.

This isn't what I heard. The idea for MGR came from within Kojima's team. They tried making the game but couldn't get it working. Game was quietly cancelled and then Platinum offered to pick it up.

Well, nobody knows what Konami's plans for the Metal Gear IP in general are now. If they plan to end it after 5 comes out, why put more money into it? "Cut your losses and move on" happened to many games in development before.

MGR reviewed respectably and sold well enough by genre standards.
So did DmC.

Here's the Kojima interview on MGR. You can start watching from the 5 minute mark where Kojima said that he was the one who saw that the game design on MGR at Konami wasn't clear and decided to cancel it but keep the core elements, then go ask a Japanese studio to make a high speed ninja action game and he felt that the only studio that could do it was PG. The quote is at 9:45.

PG could not have just offered to help with MGR without someone from Konami actually approaching them first. That's not usually how it works. From the sounds of that interview it seemed like Kojima was the one who approached them. Hell when he approached them he didn't even know they would actually accept it.

Basically without Kojima, either MGR woud've been canceled forever or it would've been shipped as that initial project which lacked that focus or action edge that MGR has now. I would say he had an important role into what ended up being the end result of MGR.

Much different standards with those two games though. Fresh new spin off with little to no sales expectations versus "expanding appeal"

c'mon son dot gif
MGR was also coming off of a branded series so there were definitely sales expectations for it. It wasn't like Konami/Kojima would've been ok with the game tanking completely.

And you said MGR sold well for the genre (which DmC did) and reviewed well for the genre (which DmC did as well) yet you are always constantly shitting on the game. Need more consistency in the shit talk!

I'd also wager that their budgets were also vastly different as well
What does that have to do with anything? End product is what matters.

I'm consistent with my shit talking of DmC.

A good game that was cheaper to make versus a good game* that's expensive to make matters to people who make games.

*but DmC wasn't a good game

Hardly the same thing :p

And thank god for that. Kamiya's urge to put stupid vehicle sections into his games are his one grand achilles heel

I am saying you shit talk DmC yet you give a pass to other games with similar problems/issues or you make excuses for them.

First of all, neither of us make games so this shouldn't matter to us both.

Secondly, you don't actually know the budget of either games to make comments like that ESPECIALLY when you factor in the fact that MGR was scrapped and redone to make what it is today. That stuff adds up in terms of budget real quick.

And finally, DmC DE IS a good game and is comparable to MGR in terms of overall quality. I would honestly put them in the same tier of action games just below the best action games (B tier for both).
