Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers |OT| New World Order, Old World Chaos

Oh, we just beat Finnegan.
What's this Six, your sister is dead?
uh, it flows pretty well when you put the details in between.

Six got pissed and left the group because Yu-ichi wondered off and tried to stop Finnegan on his own. To blow off steam, Six went into Paradigm X where his soul got trapped. His sister's soul had been transferred into the haunted mansion. She tries to kill him since he was responsible for her death.

I feel like this game does a few things really right that I hope are carried into SMT4. For instance, being able to trade play coins for currency to upgrade Nemechi and buy demons is really cool.
The one change I would make is being able to bring Nemechi into my party. It would be cool if the play coins were converted into some kind of universal currency that was used exclusively for demons.

Just started, the Jack Frost mascots are the best thing. FMVs look so bad though, it hurts my soul. Don't mind the windowboxing but I don't feel they should come off so compressed on top of that. Otherwise I'm enjoying it so far, turned out the auto scroll though.

Damn that Ghost Waterfall. I had bad luck that time and my trial and error didn't work as intended and it took me 4 tries to get it right.

Was disappointed when Urabe mentioned the "Massive file size" of the Nemissa program and didn't go into detail and say something along the lines of 100 MBs. Need more dated tech to amuse me!

Dear god, the Emperor Sword from the casino sounds broken as hell. I'm hearing people went from 40 damage to 2500. Well, it doesn't help you if it gets reflected or your MC is charmed!

I like to make my characters broken but I don't think I want to break the game this early lol.

I'm not bothering with it. SH is an easy enough game to break, you don't need to shatter it. There's a nice sword you can weapon fuse that can stun-lock most bosses if you can preempt them(hence why Agi is recommended).

Man, this is getting some weird reviews, isn't it?

http://commiesubs.com/shin-megami-tensei-devil-summoner-soul-hackers-the-review/#more-11018

I’ve played many Atlus-developed games before including Persona 3 + FES, P3P, Persona 4, P4 Golden, P4 Arena, Devil Survivor 2, and Catherine, so I figured I knew all of Atlus’s writing tricks and whatnot, but NOPE.
I haven’t played any other RPG that lets the player speak with demons and convert them to your cause
The biggest “weakness” in the story is that it doesn’t have the same world-shattering urgency of the Persona

Nooooo!! Algon Main Building dungeon spoilers
RIP Finnegan

Anyway, any tricks on the Malsum boss fight? I had two physical oriented demons so I just attacked normally while Nemissa spent all the time using healing items

Yay finally got my hands on this game (irresponsible purchase of the week =p). Played up to the start of the Airport. It's surprisingly easy for an Atlus RPG, but it still hits all the right SMT spots, with demon negotiation, fusion and demons running away with your equipment *shakes fist*. The VO is pretty decent too, with only Judah (right now) sounding worse than what I expected.

Yeah, Judah sounds different than I expected(not necessarily worse), but I didn't think he was Indian either, soo...

Might want to tag your spoilers better, like after a certain dungeon. That's a late game-ish spoiler.

After 40+ hours of gameplay, the game finally crashed on me mid-battle. I guess it was because of all those flashy spells since I changed my party set-up. Not to mention it was a back-attack so there were a few enemy spells in the mix too. I wonder whats the main cause of this.

I dunno. This game just isn't grabbing me. Not sure what it is, but I'm not addicted to it like I have been with almost every other Megaten game I've played. Loved Strange Journey, loved Nocturne, loved Persona 4. I just got to the second vision quest and while I could play more, nothing except boredom has me going back to the game. Might be just how quickly you outgrow demons. I kinda like getting attatched to them I suppose? Anyone else feeling this way? Does the story ramp up soon? I wanna like this game, but its just not doing anything for me. Also the game froze on me and I hadn't saved for about 20 or 30 minutes, so that might be painting it in a bad light for me.

Feel the same. Everything about this game is right up my alley. But it's doing nothing for me.

Oh God, this casino man.

The dice game is the worst (oh, you won big by rolling a 2 for x41? lol 7, you lose everything), and the poker game flat out cheats once you get to the higher betting amounts (or at the very least, I have never seen anyone pull out so many straights and flushes in succession ever).

Yep.
I had a string of good luck last night which got me up to 68k coins, but since then I've been getting cheated out of winning repeatedly. Lots of straights, flushes, full houses, and even when I get a pair, the CPU will do me one better. I'll get a pair of kings and it'll pull out a pair of aces!

I haven't even entered the casino in this game yet. In the first 3 Persona titles, the casinos basically doubled my play time. Those were more fair casinos.....

I'm at Amami Airport and I find myself stuck with a low amount of MAG. I have about 400, which is barely enough to summon the demon I want for the boss, and I can hardly afford the healing station. What should I do?

So how do I know I'm making progress in the Haunted Mansion?

Talk to Six in each room and if I did it right, I can't warp back to that room?

Also, how many pieces of equipment are there for the set in this dungeon? I think I have 3.

Dice game is super easy and totally broken, barely an hour on it and I made like 100-120k, enough to buy the Emperor blade, top armor, gloves and boots for both MC and Nemissa. Probably will grind for helmets and goddess blade later.

Though they've absolutely broken the game for me, havent needed a single Demon since then, around lvl 20, now 36
Six just got possessed
, I've got like 77k Magenite without grinding and 175k macca too plus tons of drops.

I cannot beat the Juggler for the life of me. I am about level 26. MC is in the front line and Nemissa is in the back. In the front line I also have Wild demons doing mostly physical attacks and in the back it's mostly Calm demons doing support. Can anyone recommend a good setup for beating him?

Out of curiosity, what do you usually put bets on in the dice game?

Can you fuse a Zoma Zeed or enter the Sea Arc? If you can do both, fuse the Zoma Zeed and use it, it costs 0 mag to summon and drains 0 mag when walking. Use it and Nemissa in the sea arc and dominate low level enemies for some free MAG

2,3,4 or 10,11,12 for 100 each then 300 on rerolls. I normally switch up which set to bet on every few turns since the dices seems to have a preference for either. Then no matter how much I win on the multiplier I just ride it to 10k. If I go like 5-6 rounds without a win I just reboot and reload a save outside the casino and start over.

Twice I've ridden a 1X win to 10k. Then I go outside and save and start it all up again.

Man, I do not have that kind of luck with the extra game. I always get a 7 after 3-4 times.

I defeated the demon and went back to him but nothing happened
was i supposed to not show my ID?

Go into the bank.

There are four. The last one is on the top floor.

Use the Dimute item after he seals your magic. Have Nemissa burninate/freezinate/shockinate his frontliners. Apply stabs to his stupid face when he's on the front row.
