Damn thats a lot of micro management! I hope the game isn't too hard to play through , I've only beat SMT Nocturne on Normal and Persona 3 and 4 as far as the SMT family of games goes. How does this one compare?

Well I'm only five hours in and it's not bad. I've beaten the games you mentioned on their hardest difficulties in each iteration, and I don't think this one is too bad. Easier than Strange Journey so far, which is what it's closest to for me.

And really there's not much micromanagement so far. I've always had WAY more than enough mag to get through areas. I usually sell most of my mag after completing an area so that I'm left with 1500. From what I understand you're eventually swimming in mag, which means you're swimming in yen as well. Really, don't worry about mag much. Just don't go into a dungeon with almost none, and don't give it all away in hopes of a demon joining you (just to receive a gem instead..). But if you're running low on mag (in the hundreds) and you're mid dungeon, you might lighten your party up a bit if you can handle it. You may also consider using the save-anywhere feature you'll get later in case you need to exit the dungeon and get more mag from the store if necessary. Really, though... you shouldn't end up in such a situation, hopefully.

Just finished the game around 53+ hours. Don't know what to say yet, but its definitely a great SMT game and it went by a flash honestly, and I want to play more. Will rest for a bit and then continue the game again to get the requirements for NG+

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
So I guess
the Monolith
is the final dungeon right? And also, I was expecting
the garden in Paradigm X to be a dungeon.

There is a side quest
in the garden
. Not sure if you have missed it by now.

Any way to access it? I'm currently at
Algon Soft Main Building
. I believe I skipped all the sidequests. :p

Maybe someone can list the sidequest dungeons that can be done?

You could try going there, but I think you may have missed it.

The Amami Bypass: Unlocked after you finish the second Vision Quest. Go to the Bath House forum in Paradigm X and talk to the older fellow and respond affirmatively to all his questions. Then go the toll booth in Yurashima to begin the mission.

The VR Park: Unlocked after you see Lunch and his father arguing after the Amami Float. Go the VR Theater and enter the park to begin the mission.

The Primate Research Lab: Unlocked after you defeat Mayone (I think?).

I find it weird that they wait till the second vision quest to explain the demon personalities. I feel like I actually have a grip on this game now that I know why my demons kept disobeying.

Yeah that was WAY too late. I got frustrated and came to this thread finally to figure that out. I literally waited until like ten minutes before that dungeon began too. I just didn't want to go any further before I realized what the heck was going on with the battles...

I have no problem writing it off due to old school game design but I really wish that had been made clear in the one page manual :p

Doesn't it take like 20-25 hours to beat the game? Is there that much extra content?

How'd you rack up that much playtime? I actually wouldn't be surprised if I racked up the same amount, I'm going to the Plant now and I'm at 13 hours (I'm going pretty slow I think) but did you spend a lot of time on the optional content (grinding and fusing good demons and such?)

I really have no idea why I got that much time. The only side-quest I've finished is the Primate Intelligence Lab. I just simply mapped out all the dungeons before moving on, and of course Im not running away from any battles. I barely even went inside the Sea Ark aside from maxing my demons loyalty from time to time. Fusion isn't even time-consuming here. Do you guys turn on the map hack? I can't even imagine myself playing that much if I turned on the map hack.

Forgot to mention, I find my gametime to be quite fast and short actually. If I tinkered a bit on the other sidequests, grinded for the casino equipment or try to complete the compendium, Im sure I could easily get another 10-20 hours on it.

lol. Well, I actually complete the map manually, and battles are so fast and running isn't always guaranteed so I fight the vast majority of battles too. Still, 53+ hours without doing any side stuff seems really long based on what other people have said. You didn't even fight the optional battles?

I wonder how my time will end up.

Do the dialogue choices you make have any outcome on the story? Protagonist's alignment seems to always be neutral, assume that means there's one ending?

What are the optional battles anyway? I've only finished Primate Intelligence Lab.

I believe they're at the top of the Sea Ark. You can fight
Lilith, Beelzebub, Lucifuge, and some others.
There's also
Raidou
along with some other bosses too in the Extra Game section of the title screen.

Optional/post game bosses, yes.

There's also the Amami Bypass which you probably missed, and then the VR Park.

Well, Im preparing for the post game right now, so I would definitely fight those bosses. And yeah, I missed both the Amami Bypass and the VR Park too. Looks like I still have a ways to go here, and I also want to complete the Compendium and New Game+ after. Seems like theres more stuff to do in the game. I think I can easily get to 100+ hours, and my Activity Log will look glorious by the end of the year, hehe

What unlocks this Primate Intelligence Lab? I never did any of the sidequesting in the Saturn version, so I get to make up for that here.

Dat Mayone is one...crazy...bitch!

God damn, it took me about seven or eight tries to beat that bitch. But they kinda give away the outcome of the post-battle scene in the opening trailer. :p

Those cut scenes are directly from the original right? Because they look like garbage. I'm having a hard time getting into it so far.

Grr why isn't there a Healing Space in the
Underground Ruins
!

Ok, so maybe there will be one but I haven't come across one yet. I'm only on the
4th floor
. I'm pretty sure that I've mapped out all the spots....

Well, at least it's keeping the final dungeon interesting. I'm so sad that my time with the game is almost over :(

There weren't any shipping issues or anything for this, were there? Gamestop still hasn't shipped my copy (had an online only credit for them), and they haven't even sent out anything to explain why. Thinking it's probably about time to contact them.

OK, now I'm super frustrated. I made it all the way to the
power hall, combed the entirety of the underground ruins (unless I'm blind) there doesn't seem to be a healing space anywhere. To make matters worse I barely made it through the fight with Kadokura on my second try, only to find out that you then immediately have to fight Manitou. Somehow I got Manitou down into the yellow health, with my MC under a 100 hp and only a Valkyrie and a Rangda (who, having just been summoned, wouldn't listen to me).
.

So please someone tell me where in the world to find a healing space that's fairly convenient before the
final
battle! I'm fairly confident I've searched everywhere with no success.

I very much would like to finish this game today, and I wouldn't even mind having to fuse some more demons as long as I have a chance to heal up before the battle.

EDIT: I'm dumb, I found one. Hopfeully I'll have better luck this time :p

Just made it to the boss in
Algon Microelectronics
and I guess it's time to start summoning demons. Besides a few, I've killed every boss with just MC, my Zoma, and Nemissa, but this one is immune to fire, so Nemissa's kind of useless outside of healing.

Time to start fusing and hope for the best. My demons are all in the 20s and I'm like level 44. Whoops.

Made it to the EX Dungeon. It's pretty cool seeing all the SMT2 bosses.

Are
Raidou and Kyouji
available to fight in the first playthrough?

Yes they are in the EX game section of the menu but you can't save in there and you will need to grind before hand to beat them.

I think I have burned over 1,5 million mags in the compedium so far. Mitama aren't cheap :O and I need a lot.

It seems human and high level demons stats cap at 40. For human you can get over 40 with equipment bonus but you can't put over 40 points. How does turn order work in this one? Even with 42 AGI I don't play first against some of the bosses in the EX GAME.

Almost done with the VR Museum. Was there any treasure in the three sub rooms, or was it just one massive troll?

Let's see if I can take the boss down this time without dying seven odd times like I did in the Saturn version.

Finished with the Corridors of Time, and the game just restarted.

I also tried accessing Extra Game, but it wouldn't let me.

Finally, finally I made
Manitou
my bitch. I've beaten the game and will be moving onto New Game+, just as soon as I figure out how it works.....

Lucifuge
is a joke. He spent all the time using Makarakarn, Tetrakarn and Paral Eyes while I nuke him Megido. Barely even scratched my party. So far, the easiest post-game boss for me.

Phew. (VR Horror)
Erika
still put up one hell of a fight.

Mudoon killed Nemissa and Main in one shot. :(

Second time, I blew her away. (Literally)

Mabufula still hurt like hell, even with buffs in effect. Imagine if I wasn't ready.

Yeah 4th and 5th were the easier for me, strangely. Had much more issue with the the 3 first. The bosses in the EX GAME are much more difficult :S

Just beat
Beelzebub
too, it was a long fight but not much trouble once you have Null/Rf Elec equipment and demons in the party. Kinda sucks though that Im currently level 81, since I checked the list of demons and the highest level demon is 85. Now its time to grind for Magnetite and get more demons in the Compendium!

God bless all my old friends/And god bless me too, why pretend?
This might be my favorite SMT game. I really wasn't expecting it to be this awesome. More than worth the wait!

Absolutely agree. I really didn't expect this to be this good. It does not feel like an old game to me at all.

This game is liked a heavily improved Persona 1.

I feel kinda bad I didn't do the sidequests at all and I'm in the final dungeon already. :/ I guess I can only do the
Primate Testing Lab place
?

I was apprehensive about it knowing that I wasn't huge on the first Persona and knowing that this is sort of its sister game (right?), but goddamn, this is love. I'm not sure I've played an RPG with this much freedom in play. They really balance out the talking vs fighting very well--best in series. When you're worn down or not in a fighty mood you can talk through stretches of dungeons. Fusions and personalities and types and all seem somewhat intimidating at first, but once you realize how disposable demons are, the game is such a blast.

The story is both unobtrusive and the characters are nice (if not great). All of the key SMT elements come together so smoothly here. If the battle graphics were a notch better (even just a notch higher resolution), I wouldn't know I was playing a 15 year old game.
