Too bad the world at large had already decided that the game is the worst trash imaginable over a year ago.

edit: yay for positive message at the top of the page :D

Finished the single player mode a few days ago. Is it bad that I genuinely enjoyed it? Yes it's anything but good, but still...
The single player is good. I'm doing a second run to get all the collectibles, it's still a lot of fun. In the score attack mode you can find around some masks that (I think) boost your stat like in the multiplayer. Also they are hilarious because Ivan wears them in the cutscenes. In every score attack mission at some point there is a secret chicken hunt (!) where you can gain an extra golden egg for the multiplayer.

I would like to see some videos of the people that did the highest score because they have to be really skilled. I have played a lot and I know most of the mechanics but I can't come close to those guys.

Alright. I'm much later than I should be for this game. The game was just a bit too expensive compared to the review scores and early impressions, but Itagaki, I can't ignore him.

So I found the game for £19 new sealed on eBay so I dived in. Should have the game before the end of the week.

Now that the game has been out for a while and people have played and finished it, in terms of action, how does it compare to Ninja Gaiden series & Bayonetta series? Is it as skilful and is there a high ceiling for mastery? Lots of combos?

Has the game had lots of updates since release?

Is anyone even playing the multiplayer? Tempted to pick this up....if I can get it cheap.

I've heard that even in the past couple of months, there was still a small dedicated community for this. I hope there are still people online, since I'm still going to grab the Wii U release, rip through the campaign, and play some multiplayer.

Good question, hopefully we get more US reviews soon. From what I gather though, it's a divisive game, with most leaning towards a negative impression, perhaps due to the shoddiness of the campaign. Apparently the melee combat is shallow, but I'm curious of that is redeemed by the game mixing in guns, and also curious how the game teaches player's the mechanics, and builds upon the mechanics.

Apparently there is a ton of depth and a lot of good fun to be had in competitive multiplayer, either way. Looking forward to finally seeing for myself. Hope it comes to PC soon as well.

No. It's not really like either of those games. It's more along the lines of Vanquish or RE6, without the depth. It's a straight up twitchy arcade killfest, with a heavy emphasis on shooting, and you can learn your toolset in minutes. Learning the best way to take on various enemy types, how to avoid patterns/manage crowds, and mastering the slide though takes longer and is a pleasure. It's even pretty difficult sometimes, even on normal. Not to mention that the MP is the real meat of the game.

Ah I see. Not quite what I was expecting but I'm still excited to give this a run through.

Already downloading. I'll admit I was worried there wouldn't be a digital version after the eShop page was removed months ago. But it's back up, and I can stay true to my all digital plan for this generation of consoles.

Super Best Friends Play - Devil's Third

Over 129,000 views so far ought to help Oatmatta sell a few copies.
Been following this super closely leading up to the release. Pretty much the best playthrough I've seen of the campaign thus far, Liam just gunjumping all over the place.

I found it cheap yesterday, so I ordered one. Don't know when I have time to play it, though. I coul join one day, if online is still even a little populated.

So the game's good. Some PS2-era vibe while playing, the action, the blood, the heads flying, the movement.

Not that I follow reviews, and yeah is not the prettiest game out there (though it looks good in general) but at the moment, is far from te disaster I got the impression here and there.

Online seems...robust. Only played once, and was fun.

Guess I'm pleased and glad I got it.

EDIT:
Didn't noticed the previous post was also mine. No biggie.

I just beat Grundla Saha, and so far the controls are more tight and responsive than I had expected, even when the game's framerate starts to tank at spots. That Saha fight tickled my Ninja Gaiden fancy something good, and shows that even with this game's rough areas Itagaki still knows how to make a good boss fight.

Though I should preface that I started the campaign on Casual instead of Standard because I wanted to give myself enough room to get acclimated to the controls without dying constantly for it, and stuff I had seem from the game on normal difficulty looked like it forces you into encounters where you have to play in a kind of restricted way to succeed. Casual lets you take so many hits you can just blitz through it that yeah it's easy and not that challenging, but you get so much opportunity to use your full moveset and in the right areas it can be quite cathartic. Shooting and slicing through that area right before Saha with Enbaku active was some exciting shit.

I'm gonna get some rest since it's past 2 AM and I waited a long ass time for the game to download, but when I wake up I'll probably start the campaign over again on Standard since I've got a good handle on most of the controls and I deserve to be challenged by this game.

I'm waiting for my copy to arrive today (hopefully).

What are the difficulty levels? Is Master Ninja difficulty available from the start?

I'm waiting for Best Buy's B1G1 40% off next week to snag this, but I will definitely be there and I'll be streaming my playthrough/MP.

This game is hilarious. Mechanics are actually really cool when they work, but obviously rough

The story is Decker-tier. Everything I've wanted and more

Cutscene animations are actually really well-done at times. Kind of jarring. Lip synching is terrible though haha

They dont give you the option to see if your local store has a copy, I might stop by and check.

Was online when I played nearly 12 hours ago.

Since some are waking up to download this on the eShop, or bought retail copies; maybe there are more people than anticipated.

Can't check now though.

I really want to play this game but damn Xenoblade X made me ran out of storage space, I guess I'll go physical, hopefully it's not that difficult to find.

What the heck, just went to my local best buy and didn't see it on a shelf, and when I asked a customer service rep, he said the store wasn't even carrying it.

My god damn power supply for the Wii U decided to act up again and I have to leave my console unplugged for the whole day before turning it back on. A damn shame. I really wanted to get through the rest of the campaign this afternoon.

Gotta get a new power supply.

My favorite level of the game (thus far) was the Jane Doe one

I remember one of the European reviewers saying the game was at it's best when it would say "shh....tonight, *insert reviewer name here*, I am going to be Ninja Gaiden". He wasn't wrong. It obviously doesn't touch NG but it has much better level design than what comes before it and more of a focus on the fun melee combat. There's no depth but it feels good to roll, slide, and jump around slicing fools

The variety with the gunplay is good but the gunplay itself just doesn't feel good. Doesn't help that the game actually looks fairly decent in third person most times (hell, I'd even say on some select occasions it looks very nice, as long as there isn't an unpolished NPC model in frame) but the first person looks so bad lol.

The dodge roll, albeit clunky, works pretty nicely for crowd control once you get used to it. It's really weird for bosses though. Souls or Platinum it is not. Still, rolling around a room with a sword and abusing the executions for I-frames is good fun

Does anyone actually think the main character is cool or is it all in a lol so bad it's good sense? Is there a difference?
It's a mix of both. Obviously with his appearance you can't take him seriously, and the more dramatic scenes that I've seen are downright hilarious

That said, there are a couple of moments that got me on team Ivan (mainly him doing some left field shit to a boss post-fight). Though I suppose that was hilarious too so idk

He's not....unlikable? He's just a big, bald, tattooed doofus

One who can kill a man, ripped to peices, and then when standing idle for not even 5 seconds will whip out his flask and down some alcohol. Dude has balls that match the shine of his bald head.

Not many gamestops in my area show the game in stock and I'm in the metro Detroit area.

Best Buy shows sold out within 250 miles. Amazon shows not available till 12/15.

I'm thinking late shipments or incredibly low print run. Not that this will sell well, but still. I could see physical sealed copies of this going for collectors prices sooner than later.
