DF: Hogwarts Legacy Switch 2 Preview: A Huge Leap Over Switch 1, But What About Series S And PS4

Game claims to have DLSS and 1440p in official Japanese information. Footage shown didn't use any DLSS and is 720p. So they are analyzing footage that is probably completely early footage and obsolete and decide to make statements about it?

Why not just wait two more weeks and do a real analysis?

Are they just trying to ride the algorithm and get easy views?
If this is true I'm fucking done with these Clowns.

Don't understand why some people get upset when the Switch 2 game ports get compared to the PS4 versions of the games. I mean the Switch 2 being as powerful or even a bit better to the PS4 is a compliment not an insult.

I have the Switch 2 pre-ordered and i am happy that it seems to be as good as a PS4. It's incredible that a handheld in 2025 can reach PS4 level or a bit beyond it and sure it's not as powerful as a PS5 but no one should be expecting that from the Switch 2.

some people deluded themselves into thinking it's on par with the Series S.
so now even things that sound positive to a normal person, sounds negative to them.

a sentence like "hey, it's a bit better than even a PS4!" sounds to them like "ha! can't even match the Series S!".

and then there's the spreading mental disorder known as DF Derangement Syndrome... that doesn't help either.

Switch 2 haters are going to frame this as a bad thing now, the same people that said that the Switch 2 was not going to be capable of run Cyberpunk 🤷‍♂️. But is the expected reaction from them.

Basically if you've always been in the 2-feet all in the Nintendo camp, then getting emotional over what you were expecting or being told is the "power of a system" comparison is really odd. I mean seriously,

I typically give them more credit than what others here do, but I find it extremely ridiculous to do an "analysis" based on a youtube stream that is already in low quality to try to find out how it performs compared to PS4 and Series S and make assumptions based on that youtube video when the game itself RELEASES IN TWO WEEKS.

They seriously aren't beating the allegations by dropping crap like this.

They're an interesting bunch...

handheld has VRR = this is great news
dock doesn't output VRR to TVS = who cares about VRR anyway?
switch1 has low specs = i dont care about graphics anyway, only gameplay
switch2 trades blows with last gen console = LOOK HOW POWERFUL IT ISSSS

For what it's worth, you can be okay with not chasing power but still being excited for a generational leap for Nintendo hardware. I was fine with Switch 1 level performance and graphics, but I am still excited to get a generational leap from Nintendo.

And this is how everyone should be when it comes to this. Especially Nintendo.

I'm actually quite excited to get my hands on the thing too. Might even be picking up cyberpunk depending on how well it runs handheld performance mode.

Base ps4 levels in the year 2025 for a new piece of hardware. Wow so impressive and totally worth 450 dollars.
Not sure if you watched the video but its not base PS4 level, even obviously identifiable in the bad youtube footage they analyzing. Switch version has level design changes to keep the open world in tact whereas PS4 is corridored off in the castle. And the Switch 2 version has several instances of high quality assets and textures. But okay. This version is very clearly a step above the PS4 version.

The Nintendo contingent triggered lmao. Base ps4 is not bad for a handheld. It puts it around a steam deck. Slightly better but with worse game compatibility. It would have been amazing in 2022. In 2025 however, it's a bit lame.

It's cordoned off on ps4 due to streaming issues from a mechanical hard drive. The rendering quality is like ps4 "enhanced". The assets are a mix of ps4 with some series s sprinkled in.

So, slightly higher assets on the Switch 2 but slightly paired back resolution (although with a better TAA version). Calling this similar to the PS4 versions sounds about right. Obviously, DF couldn't compare loading times, but the Switch 2 should be better on that front as well.

It just goes to show that you should never trust a press release that uses vague language like "up to 1440p". It happens over and over again, and yet people still fall for it.

Also, Steam Deck version is obviously better in this particular game, even better than the docked footage, which I didn't expect.

Their Switch 2 coverage has been dreadful. Can they just wait until they get direct footage or a review copy in hand? Also, it obvious that this is a low effort port of an already technically challenged game. They know this yet they continue to cherry pick media content to justify their "Switch 2 games provide a PS4-level experience" narrative. Which is true in some cases, but they are constantly working to build that case when the hardware is capable of more than that.

It's starting to sound like they are desperate for clicks and content as long as it shits on Switch. Really getting tired of this buffoonery from "professionals".

Like I said, if this is true I'm never giving them another click or cent in ad revenue.

Exactly. They're technically right with "up to 1440p" even if it only hits that resolution for 1 minute of gameplay, but it's fundamentally deceptive.

I can guarantee you the resolution won't massively jump from 720p to 1440p, or all the geometry will be swapped out, or the game will be 60fps instead of 30fps. They compared the footage that Warner Bros themselves released just recently. It is what it is.

They are desperate to prove their prediction was right…

Cycu1 is getting all those clicks and proving that DF were wrong, they have to move fast 😂

Is it just me or does the swiitch 2 feel like it has no aura right now? Switch 1 came out of the gate like a cannon but this thing launches in 2 weeks and it feels like nobody cares.

It might just be me.
Think it's just you tbh. Preorders for the new system speaks quite a bit a volume there not to mention this very thread and so many others that have been made about the Switch 2.
