They're in the game, but you don't encounter them until later on, past the section the beta is locked into.

That makes much more sense. Thanks for the clarification.

<3 Lightning Hydra.

I think the full scope of the massive customization in this game is sinking in after reading those datamined runestone effects.

Then consider each rune has multiple degrees of power.

Holy shit.

don´t know but if i want to see every spell and every class have 25-30 skills i need to find 25*5*5=625Runes, 30*5*5=750Runes
625-750different Spells!!! :D

Gems are going to be the new runes I think. You can only find up to flawless (like in diablo 2) but theres going to be like 6-7 tiers above flawless.

what would be the cutoff point for a game like d3 and its visual to go from 16 to 18 rating?

Holy Jesus indeed.

I remember this game looking worse than Torchlight then BAM! Blizzard magic happened and it looks unbelievable.

When did this change occur? Blizzard released some bad screenshots, but gameplay videos have always pretty much looked like the beta, save for the UI which has changed significantly over time.

How rare do ya'll think runes will be?

Depends on how the final system will actually work. We don't know right now if runes are really consumable in any way, or what - there's a lot of details we don't know. If they go with the original system that they've had - probably not too rare for lower level ones - they want you using them to be able to get a feel for the different things they can do. Level 5, 6, and certainly 7 runes? They will probably be much rarer.

If they do go with the proposed system of every rune being random until socketed to a skill, they'll have to be more common.

I'd still like to see something between the two systems (proposed and in-place) which would provide greater customization/variety without being too random , but I'm not going to go over all the gritty detail again here.

It would be nice if they patched some runes into the beta though, just so people could mess around with them, even if they aren't actually going to be available until Act 2. That may not be easy or worth it though, depending on how the code works, so it's not something I'm expecting.

Jesus every video has framerate problem, can any one with beta make some benchmarks with v-sync off with fraps?

Well is it even possible to upload 60 fps clips to youtube? Aren't all of them 30fps and lower?

I would think that falls into balance testing, which isn't the purpose of the beta, which is purely for individual computer and server performance testing. Blizzard have stated that they have more than enough in-house testers to figure out balancing issues.

Doesnt matter it would look at constant 30 fps just fine [like it does when there's not much action], but it slowdowns to 20 or 15 sometimes. There's ton of POE videos out there from closed beta and most of them dont lag, even with many effects and enemies on screen.

Even my MP videos from Crysis 2 has less slowdowns in actions than most of videos from beta i've seen and C2 runs on my PC at average 45fps without fraps on C2D@3ghz.

I need this game. Is it completely futile to hope for a holiday release this year?

Every single one of those frozen orbs was glorious though.

Hey I'm not hating on the way Diablo 2 was played at all, I enjoyed spamming the same skills to inifinity almost, was so satisfying.

OK, I might have to start up D2 again and play through all difficulties legitly. The anticipation is really getting to me now. I purposely stayed away from D3 info, but with how boring WoW has been this expansion, I guess I'm going to go back to my original addiction. I just hope it comes out this year, as I would love to be able to finish up D2 and then hop into D3.

So how is the randomization?

The dungeons you go down into seem very random. The non-dungeon areas seem to have a good amount of "key" locations that don't change.

Dunno if that makes sense.

They're still made of specific puzzle pieces though. At this point after watching the beta be played through a dozen times, I can recognize the different pieces. They're never arranged in exactly the same way though.

What is more random is the location of special monsters (loot goblins, electrified, arcane, molten, etc. mobs) and chests. The "random" events I've seen have been quite limited though, but I'm confident that there will be more of those littered about once you progress further in the game.

So all in all, pretty good randomization. It will be better in the full game. I'm sure some of the stuff where I've recognized more clear patterns (aside from set pieces that are intended) is just a side effect of there being so little content active in the beta.

That video did nothing for me. Punch punch dash, repeat to infinity. :/

Clearly the Monk is too boss for you.

Damn, now I don't know whether to start a Demon Hunter, Wizard, or Monk.

Witch Doctor seems to be the class getting the least amount of love. lol

I guess I have a problem with the blow-dart skill. Not feeling it.

But there's ways around it probably.

I'm the least interested in the WD, to be honest. But were I in the beta, I'd be giving them all some love.

But after launch? who knows. I've played through d2 more times than I care to count and never got past level 20 with a druid, for example.

It's a bit like the "revolution" when LCD displays where first introduced: much worse than what we had for years.

Well, there's nothing else that can be done about it, like I said, traditional MSAA techniques don't work on Deferred Rendering engines in DX9! See UT3, Bioshock, Oblivion, etc.

DX11 is still uncommon enough in the PC gaming world that only supporting FSAA in DX11 is a solution that will only work for a small minority of PC gamers. For everybody else, FXAA/MLAA are still way better than nothing!

Also, the consoles are all based on DX9-class technology, so if you want any AA on your console games, you should be thankful for FXAA/MLAA! (Yeah yeah, hurrdurr Master Race but I own PC and consoles because I like playing good games no matter what the platform may be.)

A true cold sorc held down left click and switched between blizzard and frozen spike (i think that was the name, or bolt)
Ice Bolt. Normally you either went Ice Bolt+ Blizzard or Frozen Orb, for the senergy.

Combat is looking much better now, but still doesn't seem quite as fast was II was.

Was are you talking about here? Attack speeds and spell cast speeds?

Glacial spike for freeze. Ice blast or something for damage

I will, hopefully later this week. Waiting for my account to get flagged! I'll try to force some form of AA as well. I'll also see if SLI has any impact, and how well the CPU is utilized.
