Anyone feel like the tension of playing multiplayer games is nonexistent? No fastest clicker gets items and next to zero inventory management (lootris was awesome, and being able to pick up every item in a Leoric run is stupid)
That "tension" is why most people only played with their friends. Fastest clicker gets all the loot is the dumbest thing ever, and is why there was never any real community in Diablo 2.

Also there is nothing wrong with actually being able to pick up all the loot, especially with the crafting system and how valuable components will be.

Oh god, I immediately checked my account after reading this and...nothing. =(

Ugh, what must one do to get into this beta. This is the only one I actually care about and only one I will care about for a long time...

haha well I misspoke, I meant I will hopefully be flagged soon xD so I'm still here with you guys in the trenches...

Could just be the part of the game in the beta, but I miss the expansive outdoor environments.
I hated that during bossfights. Duriels dead, oh I'm getting a huge stutter. Okay everything's gone and I hate my life.

For those of you in the beta, are you able to map your skills to your other mouse buttons as well (if you have them)?
Absolutely! I have my left and right mouse buttons bound to normal attack, scroll bound to zoom, thumb mouse buttons bound to 2 abilities and other slots are bound to keys.

I hated activating spells and abilities accidentally by left-clicking (since this also moves your toon) so I changed them.

Amazing, there are supporters of EVERYTHING. I absolutely loathe the 'fastest clicker gets the loot' system. Hate hate hate.

Ah, that's good to hear. I didn't like how in Torchlight, I couldn't bind my extra mouse keys to anything without having to use a third party program.

Yeah, it's definitely a gamble! You get some of the materials back, but you don't get them all back. As an example, it takes two rare crafting material pieces to make one rare item, but when you break it down you only get one rare crafting material back. It's a pain in the ass for crafting rares because the rare crafting materials aren't easy to find.

That is about what I expected. There is definitely the possibility of getting some decent gear through crafting though.

Blizzard has said Rares have the potential to be the best items in the game if you get lucky enough with your random attributes. Expect crafting components to be one of the most traded things in the game.

I know I've heard some folks say they don't like the crazy physics and seeing bodies fly across the screen... but I fucking love it. Don't care if it's unrealistic at all, I hope they keep that in the game.

Sounds like D2. .0000001% chance to get an awesome item, 99.99999999% to get +1 to Mana After Kill instead of 40ias. Doubtful on all counts.

Yeah, from what I've seen in videos, the physics is awesome.

I understand people not liking the faster clicker thing, that's fine. Even WoW's loot system would have been better than the current one, the idea of being in a sterile loot bubble irks me as if I wasn't playing a multiplayer game. I dunno I may be alone here I guess.

Curious about what others think about the skill comments.

Zapperkhan said:
Limiting skill slots is forced depth and it's awkward and doesn't feel very Diablo like. Kinda like giving you max points in all skills in D2 as you level up however you can only use 2-6.
How is it not diablo-like? In D2 you were essentially limited in skills since you could only max out a few particular skills anyway on any given build.

The D3 system is basically the D2 system if it had unlimited skill respecs.

I personally love the physics in the game. I think it's done well enough to give real weight to the monsters and it's just extremely satisfying to see a dead enemy flying up in the air.

It's basically the psychology behind to two types of systems, one feels like someone is holding you back, while the other is giving you free will. Main problem I see starting with only two available. Makes me feel like I want to play the game wrong wanting to have a buff, a single target damage skill and an aoe damage skill. But I have to pick two of the three. Sure it's only for the first 6 levels which is maybe an hour, but I don't like the feeling of the game working against me.

I've been told that I've been added to a list to get flagged, which can take a day or two.

I think 3 days is probably a happy median. Ive heard 2 days, it took me 3 days, and I had a friend who got his on the 4th day.

So you'd prefer to have all 6 slots available from the start? I see your issue with the system, but it's all part of the process of leveling up and seeing your character become incrementally stronger as you progress. Besides, it's only for the first 30 levels, which is only 1/4 of the entire game.

For the most part yeah. I could probably deal with 6 skills total. Having hotkeyable sets of skills would be the best solution, but they claim the current system is too easy to need them... which is pretty far from the truth.

I haven't played the beta, but just from a "give the users more options" standpoint, it would be nice to have multiple loot systems, and maybe default to the current "loot bubble". It's kind of lame not being able to see what other people pick up unless they show you. Loot bubble adequate (and probably preferred) playing with strangers, but with friends or people you trust, clicking/rolling/whatever adds some extra tension/variety. You could set a threshold as well so you only certain item qualities would be visible to everyone (e.g. anything below rares is personal, rolls are made on rares and above).

Of course, when playing solo, loot systems are irrelevant.

Yeah, was talking with the roommate about not seeing what other people loot. Can't even say hey nice loot grats, can I trade you for it? Those are pretty good suggestions, options are always nice.

Most of the time if you're farming for items you set up a mf character anyway, so items found on xp grinding runs are icing on the cake.

I don't see why people would want "tension" from a loot system. The whole point of a loot system is to make you feel good.

The whole point of co-op is to have fun with others. Any tension should come from how hard it is to kill things, not the other people.

How do you know you're flagged?

Also, Blizzard are a bunch of dicks, I saw a Blizzard Email and I almost fainted and then I saw it was a shitty newsletter telling me all bout the new WoW shit, like I give a fuck!#!@!@$R@3 ;C

I think the best thing for loot is options. Except no "fastest clicker botter wins" option.

I wouldn't mind a WoW style dice roll but I really wouldn't want that to be the only system. Especially since, with class-specific items, there's just so much potential for loot drama (i need this for my main! -well, I need it for my alt!)

Some people have reported that they got better rare drops from the Skeleton King at rank 13 as opposed to a lower rank.

Does that jive with the rest of your experiences?

I'm up around 60 SK runs now and have yet to see a rare drop at level 13. The only rares I've had drop were on first kill. On my wizard I did have 3 rares drop at once on the first kill though. If the SK does drop better rares at level 13, the drop rate must be incredibly low or I am just unlucky.

Yeah they definitely need to add a way to see what others are looting.
When I played not even once I have thought about it - and I dont care.
Game drops things solely for me and I am happy with that, not like the drop rates for everything are low.
If anyone wants to sell something - he will send it to message board or drop on the ground.
Best way, like I did when playing with someone, is to just tell them if any item drops fom your class, to show the rest.

I dont care if I cant see what others are looting.

I think what he might be talking about is folks leveling up to 13 before they kill the Skeleton King for the first time.

If its anything like Diablo 2, bosses will drop better loot at a higher rate the first time you kill them vs. subsequent kills. Also, your character's level in Diablo 2 determined what prefixes and suffixes were available on drops at the time... so it makes sense that higher level = possibly better loot.

This is sick. Just witnessed someone buy the beta for 1600 SEK ($233)...

Say whaaaat?!

Well, what I mean to say is if the modifiers change any. We all know that the very first kill always yields a rare, but what some people have tried is to not kill the skeleton king until they've reached level 13 since they think that getting the rare drop at level 13 will roll them better mods on the items than if they killed the skeleton king at around level 8 or so.

Just wondering if that was selective memory, or if that experience has been observed by others, too.

Yeah once you are up and fed with the beta why not right?
Except the beta will be updated and you will feel awful. Maybe.

Just the thought of selling it makes me sick :( ESPECIALLY when the arena patch shows up.

I agree that selling it is bad, but if someone offered me access at a price I could afford...dunno if I could stop myself.

I'm curious about this as well. I assume it shows up under "Your game accounts"?

If you don't know if you are flagged, you are not flagged. You get flagged by someone who works there to cut in line and get the beta so in those cases I'm sure they would just say so to the person. But I dont think they would flag a random guy nobody knows. It's more of a F&F thing than a opted-in thing.

It would be nice to know the odds of getting in overall. I know they don't state how many they invite or when but to see a bunch of people on one forum alone get in mkaes me think the chances must be good.

I wonder how many people on avg opt in and how many actually get in...

If the beta runs until near release, thats a long time to have a shot.
