Well if I could afford a Cintiq I probably wouldn't play games on it! :P But yeah, if you have a tablet, get your hotkeys setup, usually have to adjust them as you play to find the best solution. Once they are set, give it a good session. It really is a great control method for this genre.

I've played Titan's Quest and Torchlight both since trying it and I just love the way it works.

Well i don't have beta access, and torchlight, while I've never finished it feels like a poor substitute right now, I might have to experiment.

I also have a bamboo touch (essentially windows version of magic trackpad)

I sure hope you can AA in this game. One thing I hated about SC2.

There never was an NDA

In the video options there is an option to enable AA, but it doesn't seem to be implemented yet (it either doesn't work or there are no actual AA methods to select from). But with that in mind, it looks like the developers are working on adding native support for AA.

If its the same engine then it probably won't have AA, would be good to know though. Having to force AA the ghetto way sucks.

edit
Well looks like there is an option then, cool.

Ok I only played for about an hour and half earlier before my son went ape shit and I had to stop. I managed to put together some quick low level footage of a Demon Hunter. Nothing very deep here but you can see some of the menu system, load screens and early levels with mobs, and action etc..

My plan tonight is to drink massive amounts of alcohol, play and record D3 until my body cannot keep up. If you guys have any requests, please PM me.. I'll do my best to help where I can, but I am limited on time due to responsibilities.

My footage ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQe87LVnOb8&hd=1

edit. In regards to AA, there is an option for FXAA but the only available choice is OFF currently. I cannot get it to enable, perhaps something that will be corrected in the final release. If GAF demands screens, I can deliver.

Game is running max settings

My specs :

Q6600 @ 3.0Ghz
AMD Radeon 5850 @ 800/1175
4GB RAM
120GB OCZ Vertex 2 SSD

Looks good. Can tell you have an SSD since your load times were pretty damn fast. Others I've seen have been slower.

Anyway - maybe some commentary? It doesn't necessarily have to be a constant stream of talking, but it would be nice to hear impressions while you play. If you just want to produce short gameplay clips though, I guess that's up to you, but I've kind of already seen enough of pure gameplay at this point.

Maybe a video highlighting all the active and passive abilities in the UI, even ones that you can't unlock yet?

Am I the only one that thinks this looks a little lacking graphically?

I understand it is a Blizzard game, and that it is meant to run on as many systems as possible, but in my opinion the game just doesn't look very nice.

The UI, particularly the action bars, don't look as sharp as I would expect.

Character models lack the amount of detail I would expect(Although I have only seen low level characters; so statement is probably unfair).

Maybe its the art style?

I don't know. Just from what I have seen I am disappointed.

I am fairly certain it will be fun, but I was expecting better graphical fidelity at the top end.

(P.S. I understand that it is beta and that it could improve)

1. Load times for me are quite literally 1 or 2 seconds, I think thats due to the SSD. It seems Blizzard really has their framework quite scaled.
2. I can do some commentary on future vids for sure. When I shot this one my son was screaming in the background as my wife was trying to put him to sleep lol.

I'll definitely change things up.

I don't expect people to watch this vid and be blown away by something they haven't already seen, just sending a little love to GAF I suppose. Going forward I'll do some voice work and perhaps delve a littler deeper into both the active/passive skill sets. Thats something I'll make sure to add in the follow up video.

Nah, you are not. Many (including me) have said as much. In fact, it has been said too much, so most of the times these comments are not that welcome (or no one cares) anymore.

To me the backgrounds look fine, even stellar sometimes. Design-wise I don't have any attachment to the old, darker, more Gothic style so I don't mind (but I can see how some do mind) but characters in general look poor to me. It may be the complete lack of AA like others have mentioned, but there's something about them that doesn't fit the overall look of the game. All of this won't matter by the time the game is on your HDD tho. The game will still be top notch and addictive as hell.

Going out now to have some vodka! Keep the videos coming guys, I'd love to see some witch doctor action.

Out of curiousity, you sound as if you've only just now seen what diablo 3 looks like. Have you not seen any screenshots or videos of the game these last 3 years? It's looked like this pretty much all along.

As for how the game looks, personally I think it looks amazing, it's definitely not trying to go for the realistic look that games like crysis and the witcher go for. But the artstyle they're using is really nice imo, the game looks very detailed, it's littered with small object, the lighting is very good and the destructability of the monsters and objects are top notch.

The UI I don't really see how anyone could dislike either, probably the best looking UI I've seen in a game ever, easy to navigate, and drop dead gorgeous to look at.

O, I apologize then to everyone.

I also agree that this game will be an addictive endeavor. I can only hope to survive the initial release months with some normalcy left in my life.

I've periodically seen screenshots before. I saw footage from last Blizzcon and things of that nature.

I guess I just assumed there would be improvement. Now that beta footage is here. It is like you said very similar to the shots before.

The UI really irks me. I guess it is more the art style as I can't point out any technical graphic based problems with it.

Here is some footage I recorded earlier just fooling around. I just used fraps 1080p 30fps and stuck it all in windows live movie maker and uploaded it to youtube. If there are any other suggestions on how to get the footage to be clearer let me know.

You'll have to excuse the pauses and such as I was getting some screen grabs. Like I said, just fooling around. If anyone wants anything more particular I could try to get it. I don't have the HDD space for a full run or anything though.

Win7 64bit
i7 860
8gig Ram
ATI HD5850
No SSD unfortunately

I tried using MLAA from the Catalyst Control Center and while it made the in game assets look better it murders the text and UI.

Was watching a stream yesterday and the guy playing said he felt the demon hunter was underpowered compared to the others, Wizard was squishier but in his opinion the Demon Hunters damage wasn't up to snuff with the others 4.

Well the only other one I've played up to lvl 10 is the barbarian, and I might have to agree. The barbarian, is a lot of fun and can seriously squish a mob of zombies in no time flat. Boom, Bam, KAPOW! Seriously, it's pretty badass.

On the other hand though, I really like the Demon Hunter. Feels a bit more balanced, but you can still wreck shop. The grenades are lots of fun and I prefer the ranged aoe to the fan of knives melee aoe. It's tough when you're only working with the early abilities too. I'd imagine the Demon Hunter will beef right up with some multi-shot, strafe, etc.

I downloaded the beta client via the link posted here.

I tried to log in using my BNet account and was denied. I knew it would be, but I had to try.

I sacrificed 3 lambs and a goat before my laptop as a way of appeasing it to let me in. No luck.

Might I suggest making a curry?

I'm playing the beta now. Looks really nice on a 3 year old ASUS GT50VT laptop.. Game is fast and very smooth. AA can not be turned on right now.

Just hit level 6 with a Barbarian. So far it's.... Diablo.

No doubt it will be something they fix if there is actually such a problem, although I recall that a number of classes and build types in Diablo 2 seemed underpowered in the early stages.

Judging from the videos, it really seems like the overall look has come together quite nicely. Some of the area compositions with defined foreground, middleground, and background are especially nice to look at. There's a lot of depth to the visuals, I guess might be a good way to put it. Animations are top notch too. Good stuff.

Watching a stream, one of the random properties increases sell value. So the guy was crafting a quiver and it ended up with +300% sell value and sold for 500 some gold, compared to the next one he made that went for ~160 or 180.

Just an interesting detail that I hadn't seen before.

I made a video showing the banner creation system.

Thats very cool. I can see me making one with some friends I plan on playing with and keeping the same one. The banner is a character thing, or is there only one per account?

Just had an "Ornate Ring" with this property.. Apparently "Ornate" means it sells for lots of money. Lol.

I really like the banners. I certainly hope they expand the customization options, but there may already be more in the final game since achievements or the like which would add options aren't currently active in the beta. (Hoping they toss at least a couple test ones in, like they had during the SC2 beta.)

Can one of you fine gentlemen post a screenshot of the options screen (video options)?

Is there a windowed mode?

It's really bizarre that the wealthiest PC developer in the world is admitting that technical barriers might keep them from implementing AA. Makes no sense to me at all. FSAA is just supersampling, right? Probably the best looking and simplest approach, but also the least efficient.

I'm not a techhead, but a comment in that thread seems to indicate that the visual techniques that SC2 and D3 use (probably to work well with lower power machines?) make it harder to use AA in-engine with DX9.

Not sure though.

Quick question, how is the game on the streaming? With it being "always on-line" but mostly for anti-piracy measures is the game largely HDD side or is it always streaming data like WoW or BC2 on-line?

I just wonder how easy it will be to play when the GF is on iPlayer and the like as that can be a bitch when I am gaming on-line at times, but if it's just a verification thing then it should be fine.

Deferred Rendering engines haven't been able to use true MSAA in DX9 since the days of Unreal Engine 3. This is not new news.

I'm sure Blizzard will at least implement FSAA in DX9 before the game ships.

FXAA/MLAA are very quickly revolutionizing how AA is done in games on both PC and consoles. I expect many games to add it soon.

It would be nice if Blizzard implemented DX11 just for MSAA. They need to go back and do that for SC2 though, forcing AA in SC2 is a pain in the ass and does weird things in SLI.

I fucking love this game so much

Exactly. FSAA will be DX11 only, if they implement it in time. To Quote Bashiok:

So far my favorites are Wizard and Monk, the latter's Exploding Palms is so much fun!

Got my first socket-able item today as well, from crafting.. don't think gems are in the current build however. ^^

Holy shit, this looks even worse than the press shots. (Sorry, I just saw some beta screenshots for the first time)

It's a bit like the "revolution" when LCD displays where first introduced: much worse than what we had for years.
