Diablo 3 Beta [Beta withdrawal underway!]

So I think if this can not be patched soon, and they are against people doing it, they would just bring down the beta and announce a release date. It would solve the issue if they really do care people are playing other parts

I don't understand why they would have the content there in the first place. Unless they had plans for us to use it at some point in the beta.

There aren't any quests available. My very first beta run a couple patches ago I actually had a champion pack spawn on the other side of the cemetary gate these areas exist at; I couldn't reach through at the time but I imagine given the right spot/lag and dashing strike you could probably wall jump through. It's really not spoiling anything at all from the game/story outside of enemy behaviors (Which will certainly be a bit different on higher difficulties anyhow).

Yeah, basically public games right now are divided into 2 groups: 4 disappointed people sitting in New Tristram about to log out, and people running in the bugged new content.

I think the "bonus" content is great - it's definitely more difficult than the rest of the beta. My friend and I got wiped out once and this never happened to either of us during the "normal" part.
Plus the atmosphere of new locations is great too.

This might be nothing but Amazon sent an update email to me earlier today saying they have received new release date information relating to a Diablo 3 order I placed on their site. Estimated delivery of 3-5 July using free delivery. It's probably just them getting wind of the Q2 release target Blizzard set though.

Hrm. It IS a Monday today though. And they did say retailers would find out the same time we do.

Nobody get your hopes up, of course.

Without spoiling anything, the new areas were challenging, fun and felt very 'Diablo' like.

If the rest of that game improves upon that, the final product will be unreal.

Had some fun with some Gaf last night in the new areas. I think it solidified for the group, if anything, that the game is going to be great regardless of any expectations. Also, I believe we found two quests that you could do. One was part of an event. And I was simply blown away at the amount of loot dropping, sheesh.

All of my qualms about the current UI still remain, but at this point. I'll cope with it and move on. Bring on the damn game Blizzard!!!

Well the "new zones" were a bit disappointing. Was hoping that there were more content.

How come i can't find any public games after i hit lvl 11?

It looks like monk has been boosted quite a lot. It feels a lot more fun to play at least.
A little sad that the witch doctor seems to be getting weaker. But classes that are weak in the beginning tends to shine at max level.

Hmm ok, thanks anyway. I'll keep trying stuff.

Turns out it was D3Doverrider which didn't like diablo 3, for some reason. Turned off vsync in d3do for diablo 3 and it worked.

Fun game. Shame it lagged a ton. Always online sucks (my end was fine). My battletag is abunai#2458 if anyone wants to play, though I don't know how much I'll be online with exams soon etc.

Had this same issue. Had to hit level 12 to fix it.

The whole "new area" thing is out of control. Can't join a Reign of the Black King game without seeing people doing it and automatically getting the waypoints upon loading up =/.

Monk actually got nerfed in the last patch. Putting Exploding Palm and Sweeping Wind as spirit spenders instead of generators was a pretty significant change to overall resource balance. It's a necessary change though as they've moved away from 'third hit' triggers on the monk generators as they are simply impossible to time properly once you get any reasonable amount of attack speed. Not sure how good the generator cycling passive is going to necessarily be though; probably end up with two generators instead of three on most of my monk builds. Sweeping Wind may have gotten better even with the high spirit cost; it seems much easier to maintain once it's up as long as you move at a brisk pace.

This is a stream archive of the new zones for those who don't have access or just wish to watch it. As far as I can tell, it doesn't have any story points because its not supposed to be open, so it won't spoil anything for you.
GAF -> INTERNET -> GAF
Hour of secret gameplay, starts at 13:40.
'Highlight' video of it once it gets processed. Just starts at the time I said.

I'm really bummed my mic was on the wrong input. I was enjoying myself a good deal. Lots of cursing too.
First time seeing those giant boars. OH man.

Grove @ 31:00. Wallers 53:50. Tinker 55:00. 57:50 Farmer. 1:13:30 Rathe. 1:19:00 Vortex. 1:23:00 Jailer (Non-Highlight Times)

Some notes:
I died
Trees are good at hiding
Poison from trees deals a ton of damage
Vortex mob (Swings you around)
Wall mob (Makes walls)
Jailer mob (Rooted)
Another kind I don't remember

Cannot believe I missed out on this. Living in a new timezonestart growing me off. Went to sleep right before all the action happened. Oh well, at least I can watch a video.

Edit: Dude, Hazaro, watching your gameplay of the new areas is quite fantastic. Glad you made them.

It was well worth staying up way too late and running those areas with you guys and I am really glad we got to experience that stuff while the opportunity was there. I guess it is back to running SK again... :C

Spread your wings and fly Hazaro, GJ :D

I haven't really gotten a chance to play in probably a month and a half now. How are barbarians faring after all the patches?

Barbarians were my favorite class in D2, and I had loads of fun playing through D3 with a barb early in the beta, so I was afraid they would get nerfed into oblivion like the witch doctors I'm reading about. Is that the case or are they still doing alright?

They're still amazingly fun to play. They've had their share of nerfs though (like every other class).

Barb is still the most fun to me.

I'm really really upset that my mic defaulted to the wrong input now. Since there is so little footage of the new areas. Now my typing just makes me look like a retard while I'm explaining game mechanics.

I'm only at 7 with him, perhaps I will find it more enjoyable as I get higher up as well.

Once you get firebats he really starts to shine. But i hear you. I don't enjoy the WD as much as i did in the earlier patches.
Frankly, i've been enjoying the Barb and Monk a lot more (which were my least favorite classes).

I still can't find any games once i hit lvl 10 :(

Oh, does mf have any type of impact atm?

Oh man. Was just watching the original world premiere gameplay video, and it's interesting to see the differences and similarities between then and now.

The core gameplay and UI are definitely the same, but there are countless smaller changes to the UI (mainly) that show the progress that has been made. Runes dropping on the ground, Barbarian using Mana, Worse Health/Resource Orb effects, Different Skill/Menu UI, Scrolls of Identify and Town Portal, etc.

Even still, it's weird looking back on that small slice. After watching it, it's so easy to see how we all thought it would ship in a year or two at the most.

All the stranger that here we are, nearly 4 years later, and the game isn't out yet. Hopefully we get it before the 4th anniversary of the announcement (June 28th).
