Got an email message saying they runned out of copies and I get mine in the next batch that is coming "possibly later this week"

So so sad :f Either I wait for that or pay 15€ more and get it today at 00.00 or tommorrow.

Edit: How is that even possible? I thought a copy was reserved for me as I pre-ordered it

Damn, might just go digital after all. As cool as the CE is I don't even know where I'd put all of the stuff. And this way I can play at midnight.

Actually, may need to get a copy in the future for my sister so if I find a CE in a few days I'll get one then! If I start playing the digital version, would there be any issues transferring the CE content?

how does this Authenticator thing work? do i really need this to be safe?

Everytime you want to log in, you have to enter a code along with your password and user name. The code is generated every thirty seconds or so and connected to your account.

Basically it works like the Gmail authenticator.

Also: do you want to risk your account?
It takes maybe 30 seconds more to log in, but it is all about peace of mind.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
this truly is a special day... we've never been this close before.

When you apply the CE key to your account, it will keep your existing characters and each new character will get the wings/dye (that can then be transferred to old characters via the stash). You'll get a digital key back from blizzard support, which can then be given away.

this truly is a special day... we've never been this close before.

Only one sleep until I can use a guest pass, and two sleeps until I get my CE ;_;

I'm still tempted to get the digital edition. You guys have no idea.

Just gonna respond to the bolded only.

Unique names in D2 was awful, it ended up with everyone having to put x's and other stupid shit in their names, it's good that it's gone.

what do you even mean by no hardcore rmah ruins the point of mfing in hardcore mode? When I read that it just seems like you wanted to play HC just so you could try and farm items there and sell them for higher prices than on normal? That's not the point of HC for most people that wanna play HC mode I can tell you that.

Jay wilson has said that it's most likely gonna take not more than a couple of month before pvp is implemented through a patch, you should expect it much sooner than neare the end of the year.

Seeing unique and funny names was part of the fun for me at least. Unique names look sleeker too. Battletags are a bummer.

Back in D2, items on HC were worth a lot more than SC items because of the obvious risks attached in getting them. I, and many others, made characters to MF so we could fund our pvp characters with less effort. It was like MFing a whole different boss with better drops.

I really would like someone to give hard dates. I rarely see anything come out faster than expected.

Spamming Vit sure was fun.

Everybody running Hammerdin was pretty fun too.

I didn't say they needed to keep the stats system the exact same. Maybe make them do more than give life/fill equip requirements. Also shift + stat negated spamming it.

Having some character identity was also fun.

I agree with your points but the Diablo 3 we get is better than no Diablo 3 at all.

True. :(

I kind of wished I started reading about all the D2 > D3 changes a lot earlier than the day before release. So many poor decisions.. I'm sure it'll be a good game but just doesn't feel as complete as D2.

-no free world pvp (randomly dueling friends during downtime was always fun. also hostiling and killing inevitable pests)
-no unique names
-8 -> 4 player co-op
-no stats attributes
-no RMAH for HC (kills the point of MFing in HC now)
-no more character builds
-no pvp at launch with "by end of 2012" rumors making it worse

No doubt it'll be good... just so many unneeded changes. Newcomers are where the money is so I can see why they did it, though.

I don't care about PvP
I don't care about HC.
No unique names is better IMHO.
A 4 players party is much much more manageable than an 8 players one.
Characters build were actually an illusion in D2, if you changed something you would actually mess your character because it worked best with specific skills and point distribution.

12 hours to go!

what is global play?
It means you can play on any regions servers, regardless of your home region. There are some caveats though:

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/5203654/Introducing_Global_Play_for_Diablo®_III-5_1_2012

Want to take on the hordes of the Burning Hells with a friend from halfway around the world? In Diablo® III, you'll be able to play on game servers in regions outside your own, with a few restrictions, using Battle.net®'s new Global Play functionality. Here's how it works....

Diablo III's global game servers are grouped into three distinct game regions:

  • The Americas - For players in the US, Canada, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia.
  • Europe - For players in the European Union, Eastern Europe, Russia, Africa, and Middle Eastern countries such as Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
  • Asia - For players in South Korea and the regions of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau.
In general, players will create characters and play in their "home" region, which is determined by where they live (specifically, the country of residence registered to their Battle.net account). Global Play gives players the ability to switch to any of the other game regions via the in-game options menu, either before or after they log in to the game.

Note that characters, items, and friends lists do not transfer across regions. Playing on a different region's servers means you'll be creating characters and friends lists specifically for that region, and you'll be accessing the gold-based auction house for that region.

In addition, players will only have access to the real-money auction house (where applicable) when playing in their "home" game region. That means that, for characters outside of your home region, items cannot be bought or sold in any real-money auction house. The focus of Global Play is simply to give you the ability to play Diablo III together with your friends in any region.

For more information on Global Play in Diablo III, see the FAQ.

I think you're an NCsoft viral marketer, and the impressions of GW2 from people who played in the betas are pretty mediocre to downright terrible. I actually sat there and watched that Towelliee guy stream the GW2 beta live for Child's Play and all I saw him do was attack gates for an hour before I got bored and went to bed.
I actually hate NC-soft and all their policies.
Thankfully they are only publishers here, and they gave A-net lots of power over their game, such accepting their will not to sell power.

The clossed Beta is... Well... clossed beta, and it was available only to those who prebought the game (including my self) with a note that "the game's release will depend on the feedback we'll get". This Beta was faced with extream and unexpected prepurchuses before the event, that forced them to even halt the prepurchuse due to already not being able to handle all those people! The problems found in the beta were, framerate problems due to the suden overpopulation, event and character ballance problems that are due to be fixed, and random bugs here and there.
Just because Blizzard has released a Demo of Diablo 3 and called it a "Beta", doesn't mean that they all use the term the same way.

As of the footage you saw. It came from the Word vs World PVP where there is a gigantic area full of keeps, mines and resorces, and 3 servers are fighting for control. They can build siedge weapons for to storm the enemy's castle "gate", gathere resources to build them, hire NPCs to protect their castles, escort resource caravans, train their NPCs to do a better work on attack or defence, and just run arround killing players if they so desire.
"Attacking gates" is only a small part of this, mostly because the Beta testers were boosted to lvl80 holding their level 1-10 equipment, and they didn't know that they need siege weapons for that!
Have you see any other aspects? Or other vieos? Here is a random one! (haven't seen it yet)

Do you have anything to say about my post about the Diablo 3-2 comparison?

Work until 19:00 > go home > eat > install > watch countdown/refresh this thread.

My guess is that we'll reach OT2 by midnight.

Playing the GW2 stress test tonight. Then I have to go to the dentist tomorrow morning. After that I'll rush into town to pick up Diablo 3, rush back, and play all day :)

Tomorrow? No midnight? Or are you American? Otherwise, I feel sorry for you. All of you. :D

Finally got some stuff to do! Today I will do like V_Arnold and go to all the retailer stores and see the people who're currently camping :3

Then I will try finding a bike.

Then I will eat something.

Then I will drink something.

Then I will install the game.

Then I will wait.

Then we play.

edit: my Facebook post:
Friendly reminder: IF I HAVE YOU IGNORED WHEN THE DAY COMES, PANIC NOT, AS I DO NOT HATE, I DO NOT FEAR. IT IS BUT A MERE NECESSITY IN ORDER TO FULLY EXPERIENCE THOU HEAVENS AND EARTH WITHOUT DISRUPTION.

Well, you don't but plenty of other people do.

You could have a 4 player party in D2. Either set a smaller lobby or only party with 4 people.

What do you mean? I could do vita caster and maxblock caster. Also, characters were a commitment. You made a FB sorc, a javazon, charge din, etc.

The auction house still exists in HC, just not the real money version.

Nobody is going to want my HC shako worth pixels for SC shako worth $, for example.

But but, I can't make another mistake in my build again, so I dont have to role another character of the same class to do it the correct way! Whats the point to that?!

Gave me a reason to make more than 1 of each character. I enjoyed having experimental builds that everybody couldn't copycat at a few clicks of a mouse if they got killed by it.

Cooldown for switching gets longer as you level, downplaying switching and in Inferno, you actually get incentives for sticking with a build.

What? Have a down to earth approach to offer a secure system to do things people were already going to do?

What the fuck don't people boycott anymore.

Secure system doesn't include a 15% cut to Blizzard. I'd prefer third party sites to Blizzard because well, Blizzard have built the game around the fact that the RMAH is going to be their source of income for many years to come and have tailored drop rates and the rest of the game accordingly. Security is a good thing but a 15% cut? That's going too far. Third party sites, the good ones can provide security and have to compete with other third party sites and blizzard themselves giving them a hard 15% cap for cost. 5% is fine. 15% is greedy.

They could have made it easier for mistake-prone people instead of removing the whole thing. A few mistake-corrections per character should have done the trick.

No point really arguing since we can't change anything now, just wanted to post my thoughts about D3 in general. You guys were just begging for a response with the sarcasm.

With the amount of money that'll generate we better not see any more bots or dupes.
