Soon, and then I...

I can feel the hype. It surges through me~

That's awesome I had no idea. I wonder if Barbs have a similar buff. Is this documented in the game anywhere?

Just to clarify, it's an actual Passive skill. The Guardian's Path, Level 24 Monk Passive. +25% Spirit Generation when using a Two Hander or +15% Chance to Dodge when Dual Wielding.

Having security from the rampant abuse of third-party hacks, exploits, and duping that plagued Diablo 2 is far more important to me than being able to play offline. I understand there's people who don't care about playing with other people, trading, PvP, and so on, but there's a much more sizable contingent who does. Sucks for you, I guess.

Well as of right now there is an even more sizable contingent who care about being able to play their game.

I understand they don't want item spoofing or hacking, but just prevent characters who were made in offline games from being used online and that won't be an issue.

Those hacks that made it to B.Net were because of the game giving so much on the client side, not due to "taking offline characters online." D3 with client-side single player would potentially have the same thing happen. Granted, that should be Blizzard's concern for preventing rather than the consumer, I suppose, but eh ...

Not sure what to say. It sucks for those it adversely affects; for people like me, I don't mind their chosen solution.

Yeah I'm going through hype and impatience. For every motorboat hype inside there is another impatient:

I just want to stand up and yell FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK THIS, and run out the door!

I agree with you, I can't play and it sucks hairy donkey ballz. But the long-term benefit of this (for those of us who intend to play online and take advantage of all the accompanying features, which is the majority) will outweigh the 1-2 days of frustration that comes with launch.

Oh okay. I thought it was something similar to the %15 speed increase when you DW.

Who's in charge of updating the Battletag list? Can we get an open sheet where people can add themselves in? There have been a ton of people post their battletags since the list was last updated.

That's how it was in D2. You couldn't play offline characters online. It didn't matter because due to much of the game being client-side it made it much easier for people to create hacks and find dupes and completely ruin the online game. Some of you need a history lesson on Diablo 2.

I have to imagine that in 2012 there is some way of engineering the game so that isn't an issue. If push come to shove they should have just made two separate clients. That's how every FPS works now. It has two .exes one with the single player stuff and another with the multiplayer stuff.

Wow I go outside to smoke and read this thread on my phone. I drop phone and entire screen is ruined now, hopefully today goes better ....

Yeah they learned that there is clearly more interest in the game than they initially expected.

They really should've made it longer. Seems like they got good mileage out of figuring out their server stability for concurrent active users but not so much for the actual connecting process :/

Almost every FPS is still hacked :x

Oh great I spawned as dead on my hard core character.

Thanks blizzard.

Awwww shit. It has begun. Lag kills for hardcores are gonna cause some serious rage.

Edit: Hahaha are you guys serious I just logged RIGHT IN. I thought the US servers were supposedly down?

It would be cool if Blizzard patched in support to play offline.

When I get disconnected from my single player game, I feel like there is something wrong with the industry..

I'm skeptical. We'll see, but I have a feeling hackers/dupers are gonna take a shit all over this game like they did with D2 (I'm so hoping to be proved wrong)

Ahh, the wonders of always online. Wouldn't be that bad if the tech was up to par, but it's 2012 and it is clearly not there. At least more people are seeing the bs that is in this case, just wait till you randomly lose progress/items/characters when you are a higher level and higher difficulty and let's see if this mild anger doesn't become full on rage.

Blizzards fault by chain reaction imo.

So sad it's my dads birthday today. It was a gift from him and my mom last christmas. Just now going to even say anything I don't want to bum him out lol. FUCK YOU BLIZZARD~!!!

<3 <3 <3 JK I love you Blizzard please let me login.

There's always a possibility, but it's definitely far harder without access to basically everything. And it'll be theoretically easy to handle anything that does happen.

...god, I at least hope so.

You guys do realize that even with the beta stress test, demand right now is probably 10x higher?

Really should've given it more than the weekend. Maybe. Not sure if even that would've helped without having the sheer volume of people trying.

I'm certain there will be hacks but the key here is that with the game being all server-side it's going to be much easier for Blizzard to address the hacks and exploits. There was little they could do with Diablo 2.

Absolutely, but I think they still could have prepared some sort of slicker contingency plan. We'll log in eventually and all will be good. But this seems to happen over and over and over (not just talking about D3 here).

The real kick in the teeth is going to be when the market is flooded with duped items a month from now.

If within a year of its release any bull shit happens with dupes/hacks/cheats...then they better get rid of the needing to be online lol. Or else nerds will rage.
