Downed SK. Went and turned in the quest. Then I made the fatal mistake of logging out to eat dinner.

Oh well, on to Max Payne 3. I hope I don't have to log in to play the single player, lol.

I'm confused about all this talk on max payne 3 here ? Isn't the pc version only coming out next week ? ( I'm pretty sure since I gave up on getting the collector's version of diablo 3 so that I could afford both games) So are all of you guys playing some console version or you got some sort of early access for the pc one ?

Never played a Diablo game but I'm about to try for the first time. The only similar game I've played is MUA 2, which I'm sure is a joke compared to this in terms of complexity. I'm hoping the learning curve here isn't as bad as DOTA 2, I gave up on that one.

I also gave up on DotA 2 because of the learning curve but have been a Diablo nut for like half my life so you'll be fine. It's way better game than DotA 2 imo as well. D3 is easy to get into... the few hours really ease you into the game and then it opens up after Skeleton King boss.

I started Act 2 a short time ago on my DH and Im getting destroyed though. I mean, I cannot survive more than a few seconds with enemies in melee range. Its pretty horrifying how fragile I am. I probably need to stop advancing in acts and just repeat one over and over and build up my gear before moving on.

I had a similar shock to the system when I hit act 2, but got used to it pretty quickly. Also it's fairly easy to scrape together some low end blue gear that adds to vitality, which can be an easy way to up your survivability.

Now LEMME BACK IN WAAAAGH

I'm blazing through Act 2 with mine, just as easy as Act 1 tbh. Better loot, learn your skillz..

Basic Diablo fare, get with da program.gif.

Anyway yea, making me second guess my choice, I want to roll Witch Doctor or Barb...

Choose for me gaf, im lvl 22 DH right now.

When you're a wizard and you don't use a staff, does that make your spells weaker? I'm trying to find out why I'm so weak >__>

What matters is the damage value on the weapon you've got equipped along with its attack speed (which affects casting speed), and later on pay attention to +int bonuses since intelligence gives a damage bonus to the spellcasters (Wizard and Witch Doctor).

It's easy to see why blizzards problems exist- they ran an open beta 3 weeks ago to get a final count on maximum concurrent log ins, upgraded servers accordingly and estimated that for launch day they'd need 50% higher then that. Much like an MMO, they can anticipate , after the initial launch rush to play dies down a bit- 15-30% of the total users online at the same time at any given time. So if they expected 2 million copies to sell in 24 hours and let's say that 500,000 of them was what they anticipated in north america - well that translates into 75,000-150,000 players online at once. They probably had enough servers to handle 200,000 concurrent players. Instead what happened during the first 60 minutes of activation is that 99% of the people that bought a copy tried logging in all at once. So double the server capacity was reached within 1 or 2 minutes. This may have been fine for a bit , if the log in server was seperate from where you play the game itself. You'd get the occasional error if too many many signed in the same second that you did, the server would simply allow it's capacity and then cycle around to let the next wave in.

So basically, Blizzard anticipated and prepared for X+50% and instead they got X+300% , the emergency maintenance last night certainly helped , they likely activated some extra servers they were planning on rolling out as the week went on and added a better log in queuing process.

It's easier to just treat this like the launch of an MMO instead of a normal single player title , eventually they'll get enough servers running to keep up with demand , perhaps toss out a small patch to fix any remaining niggling issues and by next weekend it'll be fine.

Wow. Sure this shit sucks, but some people are taking this as personal as if it actually is Blizzard their girlfriend is cheating with... From the 5 hours I've played the game is fantastic, and so I'll give them a couple days to get their act together.

If they don't, well... :)

Yeah, same way I feel. Game has been fucking amazing, aside from the server issues.

Gotcha. It's pretty satisfying to pull the nova/force wave combo, but there's really no sense of danger at all when I just run into a giant mob.

Good to know the game gets a lot harder.
Yep! You're definitely going to want to use a follower to tank/aggro. Mobs are a lot stronger right off the bat. Act I it's like: Oh a big mob? Lol no worries, won't even get me below 50%. Act II: WHAT THE FUCK OH GOD HELP

I kind of feel like a turret playing as a Wizard. Admittedly I'm not very far into the class, lvl 8 or so. Does this change? Kinda tempted to switch to Barbarian to get a little action.

You might enjoy the Monk more. It's got more of the zipping around in and out of the fray than the Barbarian.

Finding cheap rares on the auction house is extremely satisfying. Found a 1h-er with 25 dex and 22dps for 500. My level 12 monk loves it

Wait who is last boss of Act I lol

the butcher

I'm part way through Act 2 and the game has been great so far, the bump in difficulty was very much appreciated as most of Act 1 was a snoozefest. Only thing keeping this game from being a 10/10 in my books is all of the server problems. Hopefully they have most of them sorted out by the weekend so that we can get some quality playing time in.

This would be possibly more harmful to them then the down time right now. Could you imagine people complaining that they didn't get in the first wave of release? This thread would be twice as long.
Those people aren't their customers.

;P

But honestly, better late than broken. Just don't flood the channel.

Well good for you, not all of us have been so lucky though. Error codes are burned into my retinas at this point.

Hey Im not saying your experience has been shit. I can definitely imagine if you got home from work right as the servers went down or something. I was just saying, overall for comparisons sake, from someone who took Paid time off for both WoW and this launch, that overall, this one has been much better.

Of course if you weren't actually home to play when the servers were humming along fine for hours, that absolutely sucks.

I don't like how people are saying "It could've been much worse" Yeah, for you maybe. For me, even after getting into the game, it's been unplayable. It's so maddening.

I'm playing totally melee range right now, frost nova then spectral blade, diamond skin when I'm in troble.

It's a much easier time if you use a follower - I'd suggest the templar.

edit: He's basically just a meat shield for you to range kill everything. It's cake.

this, along with caltrops/evade you shouldn't be getting touched really when playing a DH.

Registered my CE after I already created my Wizard. She didn't get the wings or the dyes. Is it only for those characters created after the CE is registered? Can I roll another character and give the wings and dyes to my Wizard and delete the other character?

Are Rare weapons anything special? Should I vendor it, put it in my bank, give to my companion? So far I've just been selling all my loot.

I was looking around for an auction house in the town before I quit but never found it. I guess I'll look into that tomorrow.

Yes, yes, and yes.

How come I got the 2nd blacksmith achievement before the first one? Also I noticed that in multiplayer, picking up gold doesn't count towards my 10k.

This game, despite the server issues, is better than I could have imagined. And Im only in Act II.

Love the lore, the art, the way my barbarian smashes things, the music, the sounds. Absolute quality. Games tend to disappoint when there is this much hype, but for me the experience has been so damn amazing.

Cant wait to see what happens in the end, then start a new class. Probably WD.

10 more years!!!

Well fuckballs.

Turns out I made my char on the Euro server (who fucking knows how) that's why I thought he was deleted.

Time to re-start on the NA server second it comes up :/

Tryna play the guest pass but the servers are down? How do I kno when they'll be back up?

No fuck you make way for us paying customers :o

Christ, you know.. I haven't bothered with the followers at all. Maybe its about time I check them out. I had one with me in Act2 for a bit
But she was some sort of 1500 year old enchantress and had a lot of dialog, so maybe thats just a mandatory companion.

Yep you can

Alright, maybe on your server, but not on mine, unless it was pre 1.9. I've played since then and never been locked out and disconnected all day like this. I'll admit, that doesn't add up to a good picture on the whole for those patch days. They were terrible.

My primary experience with WoW has all been post-Wrath. There were some really shitty patch days.

Keep Yellows or above. Never trash vendor it, at least destroy it for parts at the Smithy or sell on the auction house for gold.

I keep blue items to destroy at the blacksmith.
