I just beat it as a lvl 31 barb, a died twice near the end of act 1 then never again, i know playing through on normal is only the tip of the iceberg but it's a strange thing to just not die for 10 hours+.

I have a few too many distant attacks and need something for up close, just in case. Should I give up Firebomb or Corpse Spiders? Witch Doctor btw.

Man, I love the auction house, so many good items for dirt cheap. My level 23 barbarian already has over 2,700 life, 300 strength and gains 15 hp per second, all for less than 30k.

I am a powerhouse in act II.

Just went through the smallest random dungeon level.

Haha

On my Demon Hunter how does the math work out when comparing a two-handed bow to dual hand crossbows?

I have hand crossbows that are 20 DPS and 15 DPS. Should I replace these with a 21 DPS two-hander or wait till I get a 35 DPS one? Or somewhere in between?

I'm assuming the drop and chances of it being there are randomized. You'll probably have to restart the chapter and go at it again. The black mushroom doesn't always appear every run too.

Seriously? So, there's a chance that I might not find everything I need to
get to Whimsyshire
? So, if I'm not seeing the shinbone now, I won't see it unless I restart the chapter? Dammit :(

this game is so fucking good its like the best thing since sliced bread i tells ya.

It's seriously that good.

Criminally good. Blizzard employees should be jailed for making something so good.

So you can only level the blacksmith with gold? Seems silly. Maybe they expect people to buy gold to upgrade him?

Also, I love how cheap I'm finding stuff on the AH, but man is that place a mess. The filtering options are kind of poor and I hate it say it but there is just too many types of the same item which makes searching tedious as shit.

I have to say, as much as I really love this game, I don't think it's going to be anywhere near Diablo 2 levels as far as digital crack goes. Maybe I'll be wrong, but there are some design changes and choices that just make it a bit less addicting. One thing I've mentioned before is the quests. The only reward you get is experience and gold. That's it. For pretty much every single quest in the game, that's the only reward. You're propelled forward through the game with any character you have purely to level and get gear. That's fine, but D2 added shorter term goals that made it really addicting to just do one more quest. There were so many different types of rewards. you got stat points, skill points, resisitances, you might get an assured rare ring or rare item. You got an imbue. You got the cube. It seemed like there was always a small, set reward

Aside from quests, you also had armor and items that you would be gathering that you might not be able to wear until you got enough strength or something. There was a tangible excitement about putting in that last stat point knowing you could not use that armor you had sitting around forever.

And that's all aside from the fact that now there's literally no reason to replay the same class again. In D2 each class had tons of subclasses that you could play through with, and the game felt different. A javazon wasn't the same as a spearazon or a bowazon, and even within that things were kind of different. The Sorceress also had at least 3 distinct classes, and had branches from there. It made the entire game different.

I do overall like the choice to switch to individual loot rather than combined loot for everyone in the game, but even that has a big drawback. You would sometimes see a drop and know someone else got it, and that would garner a lot of conversation in the game, asking what someone got. There was an excitement for the whole party seeing what something ID'd at. And if they got something good you were a little bummed that you didn't get it, sure, but that added to the crack aspect in a way. You were so close to "winning" that item that it made you want to keep going. Now everything is kind of secluded. I'm sure if someone got something really amazing they might say it, but that's a bit different than seeing it. Though overall I am happy to have my own loot table since through most of D2's life I had the worst internet connection ever, so I literally never picked up anything good, lol.

Level 51 Wizard. We are on Act 4 fighting Diablo and getting our asses kicked in a certain phase of the fight. But I am having a blast, this game is just too addictive.

From a pure DPS standpoint, the 20 and 15 average to 17.5, plus 15% attack speed boost, so 20.125 DPS. However, 2h hit harder on weapon skills for the most part due to the higher weapon damage. So I'd imagine the 21 DPS 2h works out better?

I'm still playing with such things on my barbarian, myself.

Wow, what's up with the abysmal video compression on the cinematics? It feels like a Monet painted on toilet paper.
I can't believe someone at Blizzard signed-off on the compression profile they used - during certain moments of high motion, it's almost impossible to see what's going on. The cinematics department (who probably spent well over a year working on them) must be livid right now.

Would it have killed Blizzard to include a 'high quality movies' option within the launcher? Given their relative brevity, I doubt it would increase download by more than a few hundred MBs.

Haha, so awesome. Level 22 monk, currently on act 3 after 3h 45 min :lol

This sums up my thoughts perfectly. While a great game..I just dont get the same feeling of addictiveness like I did with D2 and even D1. As of now a lot of the environments just feel like been there done that and now with a simpler character. Still fun but this has gotten me a lot more excited for Torchlight 2.

Any casters going into hell and having survivability problems, wear a shield.

The dps you lose from not having a focus is marginal compared to the survivability you gain from wearing a shield. The armor affects all incoming damage, and you can block ranged attacks and spells with a shield. So good.

Ugh. Why can't I find a good Diabo for the life of me? I need that staff to try my spirit regen build. To be frank I think the only reasons I am dying to elites on nightmare is because I didn't commit to a particular build with my Monk.

where are you guys experiencing this lag? i just played for liek 2-3 hours straight with only a couple of the rewind things
also a lot during the day, prob 3 more hours

Post your internet connection and server, like a quick survey:

15mbps download, 5mbps upload
US server, east coast

Okay, this weird.

Last night I stopped playing while on Act II.

Today I log in, and I'm at the start of Act III. How is that possible? I don't even have the achievement for Act II boss. This is kinda annoying, as I wanted to... you know... finish Act II :p

Yeah I haven't been getting lag at all.

This game is so addicting and I have no idea why. I barely got 5 hours of Torchlight before getting bored of it but D3 has me freaking hooked and I can't explain why.

Well item linking can help in the conversational aspect.

EDIT: On normal in past Diablo, i've had to use health potions...but here, I havent popped one yet. Think its because of the orbs...because I thought those were just supposed to be minor replenishes.

I have the
ancle
can someone post a link to where I should use it and what I get.

Also where do you get the jewlers papers to upgrade him. I was a huge jewel whore in D2. I'm a bigger one now that you can unjewel your items. :D

I'm not sure how I feel about losing the Nephalem Valor buff when changing skills, because it it was literally impossible to solo THE LAST BOSS THAT WONT BE SPOILED BUT YOU KNOW WHO IT IS COME ON REALLY on nightmare without changing my WD to an outstandingly single target dot/kite specific skillset. Why they consider the rolling thru blowing up creeps builds to be viable for now single target tailored boss fights I don't know.

nephalem valor is only active at lvl 60
Edit: oh wait, i read your post wrong. You meant for the future

anyone know what I can do with my gtx 570? I am stuck at like 30fps for no reason. If I OC i get a solid 60fps. Every other game runs as it should. I am on the newest beta drivers and I am well above specs on everything else.

Ok so I figured it out. I was forcing v-sync on in my nvidia control pannel. This is great for other games but cuts my FPS in half in this game... gotta be a bug.

Man, I read this post like you were already at Level 60 and I was about to freak

Same here. Late last night it got to around 60 or so for me, but the majority I was 200-260.
Yup same for me on the EU servers. 30-50ms on launch night (when I was finally able to log on) and now it's around 200-300ms. Maybe this is an unfortunate side-effect for whatever measures Blizzard took to alleviate the connection issues?

Worst part is the impact it has on ability queuing which makes the combat feel less responsive. Hopefully they'll patch in an ability queue slider like WoW to help mask it.
