Now, anytime I log in, after getting authenticated and with my character as background I get a Error 1 warning and get tossed back to login.

What irks me the most is Blizzard's nonchalant attitude about this. This is insulting your customers.

Nah, they just want their 15% cut.

That's the worst part, this is all because they want their cut from the virtual goods market.

I have the feeling they have their models for userbase 1-month or 3-month from launch and adjusted the server requirements to that, launch be damned.

Got excited to see a legendary drop in Inferno Act 2, only to be overwhelmed with dread on seeing it was a weapon. It did not disappoint either:

sigh :(

I feel like the stats should be random for legendary weapons, but there should also be a specific range of stats that you have a chance to net. Like, for example, you should never get a monk-specific weapon and then have a chance to end up with strength. That's just fucking retarded. You should always land on dexterity, vitality, attack speed, or whatever other stats are useful for a monk, but the number itself is what should be random. Legendary drops are few and far between (I've only gotten 2 drops in my 100+ hours of gameplay), so when you get one, I fee like it should actually amount something...

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
So fun.

I'm switching to NA permanently. Nowhere near as many issues as EU lately. Fucking incompetence from Blizz.

Is it really that annoying?

Act I is a little tough, but you'll be fine.

Act II is literally 2x-3x more difficult than Act I. It's abrupt, and as soon as you start your first mission in Act I (canyons where you first encounter the mosquitos), you'll know you're not in Kansas anymore.

No, for people who enjoy a challenge it really isn't. Unfortunately those people seem to fewer and far between lately.
Bull-fucking-shit.

There's a difference between "challenge" and "cheap". there's a lot of cheap that forces a dependency on the Auction House.

There really isn't another way to describe it. It's designed to get you to the AH where Blizz hopes to make money off of you. If they could have, the RMAH would be up already making them money...but they can't get their shit together.

or you can keep playing and farm?

I mean, what is your end objective playing D3? Be honest with yourself here

My objective is having fun. One part of the fun is finding better loot and yeah, trading could be part of it. It kinda was in D2. However within a resanoable timeframe. If I need 2-5x more time to find a good item in D3 (and actually it feels like that at the moment,I don't even know when the last good item dropped) then it'll stop being fun and become frustrating. And yeah, I still feel like those drop rates are connected to the existence of the RMAH, even though that may sound like X-FILES to some of you.

Yeah I'm not sure why they went this way on weapons, and alot of the legendary armor pieces I've seen go exactly as you've described. Example, I'm in the market for a String of Ears right now, and outside of a few variables, 90% of them share the same modifiers, just different numbers on them(10-20 melee reduction, etc).

Vastly prefer that to my totally awesome 2h crossbow with high str and a witch doctor modifier.

It tics 2-3x on larger stuff and hits pretty hard. Life steal is neutered in Inferno though so that half of it suffers. I hope they leave it as is but figure they'll reduce to hits per target or damage.
So THAT'S what's happening there. Was using it on a large sized mob in Act 4 and they were getting decimated.

Does it happen on Thunder Ball too? And thanks for answering, this was really bothering me.

There have been troubles with EU since this afternoon (actually, since launch). Blizzard are a bunch of fucking morons. And they don't give any fucks about their customers. Have they even apologized for that clusterfuck of a launch? Even post-launch is still a clusterfuck.

If you want some insight into the stuff Blizzard is facing, read this very intelligent post on reddit. And yeah, communication is lacking, especially in Europe.

While ball lightning also hits things twice or more, it does 50% damage for some reason. Nether tentacles is the way to go currently.

It does, but Ball Lightning only hits for about 50% of what Nether Tentacles hits for (though it hits about twice the width of NT).

I'd be shocked and awed if the RMAH didn't dictate the entire loot system, which then dictated the design of the classes and combat. It sure seems like the RMAH is the end all be all of the game.

Luckily I'm not that kind of a hardcore player. I just have fun with some of the bigger battles, so all the item chasing, grinding, farming etc. I'll leave for everybody else. The combat can be so damn sweet (pre-inferno of course) that its worth the price of entry for me.

Every time I hit something with my Barbarian or Monk it just feels good. Examining numbers and seeing which items have the bigger numbers? No thanks. Just provide me enough gear through combat to keep having fun and I'll keep playing.

I have to admit though, seeing the always-online requirement bite them in the ass does give me some hope that other's don't just blindly follow Blizzard's lead here.

So pretty much, RMAH/greed is the source of all of the problems this game has. Blizzard is taking a huge dump on their own name and all the goodwill they built up just for that extra bit of income. This turned out even worse than I imagined it would when I first read about the RMAH announcement. Last Blizzard game I will purchase.

can someone explain crit chance for DH's? I have 100% crit chance so is it pointless to wear gear that increases crit chance by 2.5% etc.

the number stays at 100% regardless of what gear I have on. (I assume because of sharpshooter)

Doesn't seem to as far as I've read.

Damn...

Thankfully I am already trained in the art of Impale + Overpenetration so even if Blizz nerfs NT I will still have my BnB.

So came in to check and see if the server issues had been resolved and wow this game seems like a fiasco on multiple levels.

It's deceiving. You don't actually have 100% crit rate; you have 100% crit rate until you actually score your first critical hit, at which point your crit goes back down to your real level, then starts adding 3% per second until you crit again. If you take Sharpshooter off, you'll see what your proper crit rate (and DPS) is. Honestly you shouldn't be running Sharpshooter unless you're in a stacked crossbow build w/ appropriate gear (including spike trap variants).

So, there's nothing on TV and I've got a couple podcasts lined up. What's the newest farm spot du jour? (I am so tired of Dank Cellar)

Believe it or not, they did apologize for the launch troubles but that was a couple of weeks ago.

Inferno isn't difficult, it's a gear check, if you have the gear you can proceed. It's as simple as that.

Dunno what you expected from a game that is designed to revolve around gear? Game hasn't been out a month and people expect to be clearing all of inferno without much farming. The only class I have sympathy for at this point is monks.

Hopefully they are also doing the maintenance now. Now just being offline until 3 am, and then another hour for maintenance..

.. who am I kidding, though.

They've changed the message to say maintenance from 1:00am cest to 3:00 am cest now. Guess the scheduled maintenance rescheduled itself.

a little tougher to price because people really want vit and/or primary on rings + stuff. but it's a great ring for anyone willing to sacrifice. 500k?

I thought you said the shit was about "challenge"? Challenge naturally infers it's about skill. But Diablo 3 is not really about skill; it's about gear. Some skill is required at any level, but gear is all that separates people here struggling from the people dealing 100k damage. that's part of why it feels like bullshit.

Dark souls is a challenge, Inferno mode is bullshit.

Depending on who you ask, Dark Souls is bullshit. At minimum, certain parts of Dark Souls will be called bullshit by lots of people who don't like that sort of challenge.

I've got a couple of friends who are really enjoying Inferno. One has beat the game solo as a Monk and finds it to be quite a bit of fun.

Opinions!

Where did you find it?

I'm just curious what the typical spots are. I mean I expect the act III/IV inferno responses - but who knows.

I actually found it in about an hour of banging my head against Act II.

And the money has already been spent on some new Chest Armor. Maybe I over paid, but I got this for 800k:

I don't know, maybe I should have forgone sockets for more All Resit. I am having some buyers remorse. 25 Resist isn't that much, though the old piece didn't have any. I could have easily traded 2 slots for anther 30 All Resist looking at some more piece. Though the raw Int Values never seemed to go up very much.

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...

Thanks, 1 hour earlier back then. Theoretically.

With my barb I ended up needing 1500 str, 1100 vit and ~900 all resists (with warcry) before I could really survive in act 2. I do a little over 22k DPS with a 1000 DPS weapon.

680 dps weapon with +1200 life per hit and I can do act 2 with a fraction of those stats :p

my build is pretty much centered around crits but I was curious about how the 100% thing worked. thanks.

Anyone in Inferno (NA server) want to bang their heads up against Belial with me for hours (or however long it takes)?

I don't know the going rate or anything, but I'd say you probably overpaid. Like you said, 25 resist isn't a whole lot.

Have you played a Diablo game before?
