On the topic of inferno, I finally got to beat belial last night after getting so zoned in with a dota2 game and that concentration carried over to my 7th or 8th attempt at him that day. It's really fun slowly working my barb through inferno because I feel that unlike the other classes, once a barb can actually handle an act, with the proper skills, they can steamroll and even escort others through it pretty easily. I'm getting my shit pushed in by almost all elite combinations in Act 3 right now but I still find the challenge fun!

Did you use the auction house or find all your gear to get that far?

Same I used for every other act: smoke screen (lingering fog), vault (tumble), preparation (backup plan), hungering arrow (devouring), elemental arrow (nether tentacles). I had about 30-35k dps with sharpshooter. I solo'd everything right up until Belial, had to get help from a barb to tank a little because my dps was way too low to solo that fight.

Do you use vault when you have smoke screen with preparation ?

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Hey look. I can't log in!

Surprise, surprise.

Psh. At least when you do login you have good performance and can actually play. Yesterday I got d/c'd at least 30 times with error 3007. Oh and btw, I now get about 10fps post 1.0.2 patch so yeah I'm subjected to farming old ruins as I can't even get pass the butcher in inferno due to lag/framerate... #1stworldproblems :p

Yeah, I was loving this game but now it's just painful to play :(
Trust me, I know exactly what you're going through. A couple of days ago, it took me ages to log in and when I finally was able to log in, I'd be lucky if I could play for more than 15 minutes without being d/ced :_: It really sucks ass.

I'm the 3rd world country of Diablo3 and get so much foreign aid from nice gaffers... The only item I have ever purchased on the AH is a stupid 600 DPS spear I should never have bought for 400k when I first hit 60. My gear isn't anything special, aside from the 900 DPS 1h sword from Freakinchair and the 1350 armor shield PuppetYuber gave me, I think everything else is mediocre. I'm at work so I can't screenshot but here's a breakdown of what I remember:

100+ vit pants with no resists at all
blue bracers with +70 vit and +70 all resists only
blue ring with +55 all resists and +200 armor only
"rare" shoulders with +170 strength and +80 vit and no other stats worth mentioning
blue amulet with +100 to both strength and vit

I basically just built my barb for pure tanking and relied on Frenzy+sidearm for DPS, and the Wrath of the Berserker+insanity when it's not on cooldown. This setup is useful for boss runs with 5 valor stacks but if it's just valor farming, it's faster and much safer to replace Frenzy with Cleave+the extra damage rune because the AOE hits sometimes causes enemies to stagger and stop attacking you for a while.

My lowest buffed resist is 710 and my highest is physical at around 940.

It does suck but least you know when you are able to login you'll be able to play it. You should see how this game plays for me now since 1.0.2. If you get say 7 or 8 monsters on screen the whole screen literally becomes a slideshow. So I'm basically just goblin farming old ruins now but even that doesn't save me from error 3007 lol.

Are you on a mac? If so, is installing windows an option for you? It easily gives +15 to 30 FPS.

Nope. I'm playing on an Asus g74. It ran amazingly with everything maxed out prior to 1.0.2 patch now not so much. Tons of other people have the same issue if you check Bliz tech support forums. Not sure the root cause but it's happening to people with both ATI and Nvidia cards. And it's not low end hardware that is the issue because people with 580 and 600 series cards are having the same issue.

my primary and secondary is the same, looks like I'll have to ditch traps and raise up the dps.

If you don't have traps how do you fight those fast mobs?

How is everyone getting such high DPS. I'm on inferno but mine is only like 11k DPS/5k armor rating. Also, what do people mean when referring to "stacking"?

I have a friend who got hacked and cleared. I'm trying to figure out how, as a)he doesn't go to Diablo fansites b)says he hasn't gotten or read any fishy mails c)hasn't played any public games ever, just 'single player'. How?

So I have got my Witch Doctor to the point where I can do solo Butcher runs for loot, and I am thinking about starting a new character for a change of pace. I'm working on a Barb now, but was thinking of trying a Demon Hunter or Wizard instead because of how hard melee is supposed to be in Inferno. Of the Demon hunter/Wizard which is the cheapest to gear and most effective in Inferno. I have 1.5 mil gold now but I'm getting tired of farming.

Is it Optimus then, or AMD's equivalent GPU switching? I have a laptop with AMD that I had to set to "Fixed" graphics in the BIOS to force d3 to always use the GPU. Maybe a driver rollback can help too, oh and uninstall or reinstall or upgrade your adobe flash. I've found that sometimes messes up GPU performance on laptops.

My battle.net account got hacked a year ago before I even owned a single blizzard game.

I don't have switchable graphics. It's a 560m 3gb card. I've tried both older and newer drivers and nothing. It was working fine until the 1.0.2 patch.

I only played the game twice, had a strong password, and I was somehow "hacked" (the support guy said someone was using the account to spam in game messages or something), I have never had one of my accounts hacked...ever...I am super careful, this is pretty much as suspicious as suspicious gets from my perspective.

I feel stupid that I have to add some authenticator just for basic level of security, a strong password should be enough in 99% of the cases (the remaining 1% is where the company holding your data gets hacked themselves or there is some OS level bug that lets you get hacked)

I am there with you. I am trading my survivability for bigger dps. Now at 14500 buffed.

Stacking means, well, if you check your buffs, you can see numbers there sometimes like 1, 2, 3 to five with Nephalem Valor - they are stacked.

You are stacking skills and stuff on top of each other to increase stuff.

SO I finally got my wizard into Hell last night, and I'm now at level 52 and in a very strange place. My wizard is absolutely tearing through the trash of Act I Hell, I mean nothing stands a chance, UNTIL I run into a champion or elite pack. And then I proceed to die repeatedly while trying to do my best to kite them down. I am literally running around in circles casting Hydra and Blizzard while using Diamond Skin and Frozen Nova to survive as long as I can. I get almost zero chance to attack at all on my own, I am actually considering taking attacks of any kind off my hotbar and going completely defensive spec except for Hydra and Blizzard. Things run faster than I do, they absolutely slaughter me. And I don't know how I'm supposed to play this any other way. I certainly can't tank the elite mobs, and they are all either wallers, or mortars, or jailers, or teleporting, I mean holy mother of God I feel like a chicken running around with it's head cut off.

Is this what end game wizard is going to be like? Is my character destined to simply kite everything to death now and fight to survive long enough to let my Hydra do all the work? If so, I may think about leveling the Barbarian up next instead...

Lots and lots of kiting. Since I found a pretty amazing xbow I switched my vault to spike traps with the cluster rune. It does some really nice damage and I don't need to vault as often now because most mobs die after they stepped on my spike traps and got a few nether tentacles coming their way. DPS is extremely important for your survival as a demon hunter. If you can't kill something in close encounters before your discipline runs out, you are dead. Try getting a chest with 9-10 max discipline and 3 sockets. Extra dexterity would be a great bonus on those but it's a luxury. I also have +10 extra discipline on my quiver, which also helps a lot. My single most important upgrade was a new bow though. Act 3 was pretty much a dead end for me until I upgraded my bow from 8XX dps to 9XX dps. Might seem like a small upgrade but since I already had over 1500 dps it boosted my damage plenty and allowed me to kill most elite packs.

Beat Hell last night with my Barb and spent a little time running through the opening of Inferno (at the Chancellor's Tomb), not having too much trouble (9k/30k virtually no resists) aside from one pack that I managed to kite back to Tristram - shielding + fast + molten + mortar... FML. Fortunately managed to leave them there and hit a checkpoint so I could quit and start again.

Fun times. Still no AH. :)

I would say for DH.

Solo .. Resist > Armor > dex > vit
Group .. DPS > everything else.

Getting a good weapon makes all the difference.

Not really in inferno man.. If you can't deal out damage fast enough your resists, armor and vit won't make any difference. Besides, in act3/4 you'll die in 1 or 2 hits anyway, even with great resists and HP. Ranged classes take 30% more damage and if barbs and monks need 50 mil gear with over twice your resists, do you really think resist, armor and vit still matters on a demon hunter? :p

I finally got my first taste of Inferno with my Monk last night. I'm level 60 but the gear I'm using is pretty mediocre, I definitely have some work to do before I make any progress into Act II. That's still a little ways off though, right now I'm only up through the Skeleton King.

Here's the build I'm using:

Primary: Deadly Reach with Keen Eye. I use this for the added range (such a life saver) and 50% armor buff.

Secondary: Lashing Tail Kick with Sweeping Armada. This is a great skill for clearing out groups of mobs when you're in trouble. I generally use this when things get hectic and then try to pick mobs off one at a time with Deadly Reach.

1: Breath of Heaven with Circle of Life. Probably the weakest point of my build but having a cheap heal comes in handy, especially with the fairly low 15 second cooldown.

2: Mystic Ally with Earth Ally. It's nice having a dude with you all the time who is great at pulling aggro. If all goes according to plan he is fighting on the front lines while I get my DR shots in from a little farther back.

3: Seven-Sided Strike with Fulminating Onslaught. No matter how much I changed my build through the levels I just couldn't make myself get rid of this one. Temporary invincibility plus good damage and the ability to attack a ton of enemies at once makes this one irreplaceable for me.

4: Mantra of Healing with Time of Need. The healing isn't very beneficial at high levels but the 20% increase to all damage types from Time of Need is great.

Passives: Transcendence, One With Everything, Seize the Initiative

Any comments or tips from some fellow monks out there? This build served me very well through most of Hell but I know Inferno is a completely different ballgame.

You don't need a public game glitch for that. Do you just want to level as fast as possible?

You need blinding flash and serenity. No clue how you made it out of hell without serenity. :D

Public Game part of it is just for getting access to a Quest/Waypoint you don't have. The actual leveling method is to just kill Zoltun Kulle over and over for EXP. Having friends greatly speeds up things up since it adds extra quest turn-ins for you to do (four people kill ZK, three people leave to each make a new game; gives you four of the quests to turn in, one for each of the games).

It's pretty boring but I guess all leveling kind of is.

If you have no survivability your DPS won't make a difference either.

Sure you can run around like a mad person in the hope that one mob doesn't get lucky and one shot you, this is the whole problem though and why they plan to fix inferno (hopefully) in an up coming patch.

I'm not saying you can't survive if you are very skilled and manage to avoid most of the damage, but how likely is that ?

I used Serenity for quite some time but I ended up switching it out because the heal didn't seem very effective (I forget the name of that Rune) plus it doesn't heal other players in co-op and the cool-down is 5 seconds longer than Breath of Heaven. Honestly I think using DR made it a lot less useful to me because I was generally trying to stay out of reach for most enemies anyway.

There are definitely still times when I'd love to have it, though, particularly against certain Elites and Champs (like teleport, fast, mortar, arcane enchanted).

Would you switch it out with BoH or something else?

I don't see that rune on spike traps, care to elaborate?

I had 16k DPS and HP so bad everything one-hit me (even the electric eels and imps). Used: Nether Tentacles, Entangling Shot, Smokescreen, Preparation, Spike Trap and Marked for Death.

I'm pretty much on the same boat other than I can survive a few more hits but if there's a fast mob then I'm done.

Quoting myself. Anyone?

Off-hand, the only chest run I know that people still do is the Act 3 one. Which does actually have enemies, though I guess a lot of people just suicide run it. Incidentally, that chest can also spawn at the start of the The Keep, not just near the WP.

Personally, I'd rather do Act clears for loot with a DPS/MF% set than just run Goblins/Chests all day. Then again, Siegebreaker+ runs until my eyes bleed ohgod.

Well I'm hearing how people are getting to 60 in 3-4 hours, looking for the details on how it's done.

You need to have a party of at least 2 people to do this. First, the rusher (lv60) kills Zoltun Kulle in the difficulty you are in. Next, he invites you to his game and he gets the soul. Now, you leave the game, resume the game and finish the quest by talking to Adria. Next, you rejoin the rusher and wait for him to leave. You talk to Adria again. Finally, you rejoin the rusher a third time and you can talk to Adria to get the third quest reward. This way, you'll get 3 times the quest reward (experience and gold) by killing Zoltun Kulle just once.

Once you are level 25/50, your rusher should kill Diablo for you and repeat everything on the next difficulty. If you have 2 rushers, it's even faster because there's no waiting between the Zoltun Kulle kills (you can get level 60 in less than 2 hours this way).

Serenity is damage immunity that breaks all CC effects. That's why it's run. Honestly, I'd run:

Primary of your choice (FoT +Evasion or DR +Armor typically)
Free slot of your choice
Breath of Heaven (+Damage, probably)
Blinding Light (+Champ miss chance)
Mantra of Evasion (+Armor) or Mantra of Healing (+Resists), whichever is better total mitigation.
Serenity (4s duration)

Starting to lose the desire to continue. I find the game is just too linear, not random enough on replay, and the loot is just awful. Thru 52 levels getting like 3 items total that I actually kept and used is a miserable number.

Just got into Hell with my DH. around 4500 dps, level 51. Normal mobs are easy but i can already see myself getting owned by the elites.
