Are you in inferno? Life resets happen after 10s for most elites. Enrage icon can take very long to show up though.

Act 2 inferno...life resets definitely don't happen that fast for me. I can bring enemies to a spawn point, and even with a 30 second death timer I can still take them out. I guess having 12 second dots helps.

It depends on the enemy. Some heal faster than others. It seems to be a case-by-case thing rather than enemy type.

Yeah, I don't think they reset as long as they are still taking damage.

I had one i bought for 3.9 mill but sold it back it out for like 4.4 mill.

The primary stat you want is at least 28 percent block chance and higher. Double stacked strength stat doesn't hurt either. Storm Shields is special for the high block percentage. With justice lantern you can hit over 40 percent block chance alone. 50ish with a very good helm of command.

Blocking 50/50 would be boss as fuck

Best random properties for storm Shields:
Life %
Extra vitality
Extra strength
Extra armor

These are usually around ten million and up. I'd suggest getting something closer in stat but cheaper. I found a good act 4 field in the ah for a mill. 69 resist to all, 97 vit, 1.1k armor, up to 4.7k absorb and a whooping 12k extra health globe bonus.

Yeah, having that block % would indeed be boss.
I don't know if it common for barbs who have finished inferno but a guy on reddit posted his gear (Link) and he had those items, I drooled hard.
Edit: I'm at work now so I can't check the AH but how much gold do you think he spent for those 3 items?

I found all the materials to make the staff of herding as well as the plans but I've read that I should hold off until the next patch because apparently there's a bug which makes it disappear from your inventory. Has anyone here had an issue with disappearing staff of herdings?

I believe it has to do with having a full inventory while also having the staff at the same time and then leaving the game.

I upgraded mine to the hellish form last night. First time I went. Pretty funny. I'll eventually upgrade it to the Inferno form, but I'll wait until I can at least get into act 2 and have spent a couple million on better gear first.

Does anyone know the going rate for selling trips to Whimsyshire?

mine did.

What were the condidions in which it happened?

Haha. 'Just' the plans and the gemstone.

Maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones for whom it takes less than hours.

My daughter got me the gemstone on her first play through ;/

The liquid rainbow took me a few reset for the npc however but at least it was in the cave.

One day, I'll find a Reflect Damage pack and it won't cause me to kite -> TP to heal -> kite endlessly.

One day.

Edit: Also, you find it useful but most don't, unfortunately. The game teases me with every ~900 DPS Bow drop I've gotten to have 300+ LoH. So cruel :( I can't even sell LoH as a premium yet! Your build needs to take off so I can make better money.

I hope LoH never catches on. At least till I have my equip. That stat seems to have the potential to be completely broken powerful.

It's great with high stats

I dont know if there is an easy way to host screen shots but it has these stats

882.3 DPS ( :( )
+73 - 184 arcane damage
40% damage
+153 intelligence
Increase attack speed 18%
2.9% damage dealt converted to health
13% chance to inflict bleed causing 921-1429 damage over 5 seconds.

I am guessing I got a bad roll :(

I think the shift towards more offensive Tank builds (e.g., get good Mitigation from Armor/Resists and then IAS% with Life on Hit) is what's allowing more melee to start making good progress. It helps that Amethysts give a really good amount of Life on Hit when slotted as well (+300 on Stars, well worth the cost to craft two of them if you Dual Wield).

Slowly but surely. They're rare to have good stats. But they're very expensive right now.

I'm going to try and break 1.8k loh

Don't forget that Attack Speed benefits Life on Hit as well. 1200 Life on Hit with 2 APS is better than 1500 Life on Hit with 1.5 APS. Well, assuming over time rather than per hit, anyway.

GG last night Dahbomb and Toast.

Gonna try to grind up my WD super fast if I can to join more inferno fun without the monk crappiness I exude. :p

Yeah, it scales Hella good. I need a good ring with 15 percent ias and resist because I want to keep my justice lantern on.

Outside of trading, where do monks get the gear for Act 2 inferno? Replaying the last part of Act 1 gives a lot drops, but those are pretty useless.

Okay super noob question. I have just started up a Demon Hunter as my third character to plow through normal. Can someone recommend me a decent build for Normal thru Hell difficulty? Just looking for a solid well rounded build for early game stuff, I have no need for the specialised Inferno builds that are all over bnet. Most of the skill combo's that I have tried so far seem very underwhelming/ineffective.

I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, as it were, where my Monk can gear up ~70% Dodge with buffs going and survive a few hits on Act 3 enemies and regen it back via Life per Spirit Spent and Life on Hit.

On the plus side, hitting that point also means the content pretty much immediately flips to trivial. My Wizard can DPS harder but it'll still not ever really trivialized unless I get +10k DPS with +15k HP / 1k Armor / 500 Resists or something.

Hungering Arrow > Puncturing Arrow
Elemental Arrow > Ball Lightning
Smokescreen > Lingering Fog
Vault > Tumble
Free space!
Multishot > Fire at Will

Passives: Tactical Advantage, Free space! Free space!

Basically just blitz through content at top speed with Smokescreen/Vault use and everything dies to Hungering Arrow, Elemental Arrow, and Multishot.

Or just try whatever as it's pretty hard to find a non-functioning DH build that at least has a Hatred generator and spender. At least as far as Normal/Nightmare/Hell are concerned.

devouring arrow + anything you want until 22. Smokescreen still useful if only to start building muscle memory.

after level 22 get ball lightning and keep your bow up to date, it's basically a BFG at that point.

Reading the bot forums... wow the economy is going to be fucked. Wonder if there's anyway for blizz to detect it. WoW you could easily see someone was a bot... not sure how you can when people are in private games.

There's a huge balancing problem with elites past Act 2 Inferno. I can handily beat almost any other monster, but get absolutely wrecked in seconds from elites. I realize they should be harder, but to be that much harder is insane.

Yeah I got 2 Blacksmith plans in Act 1 Inferno. They were both +4 attributes one though.

Funny thing is that my BS isn't even at the level to learn them yet. lol

There's a huge balancing problem with Inferno.
Fixed for greater accuracy.

I guess it's just discussions on better ways to maximize botted gold?

...but, yeah, the economy is going to shit eventually I imagine.

I'm a little unclear as to how some of these affixes affect the overall DPS/Block/Armor number.

It is my understand that when dealing with DPS... %IAS, %Damage, Elemental Damage are already calculated into the Big White DPS number... whereas %Crit Dam and class modifiers (Dex, Str, etc.) are not.

So how would it work on a shield? Is the +Armor affix calculated into the Big White Armor number... or do I add that Affix number to the Big White number? What about Block %age... there is a block %age underneath the Big White number... do I add the block %age affix to the number found underneath?

Thanks.

Didn't we talk about the "always connected, always online DRM" being a way to prevent cheaters?

Neat.

+Armor on a Shield (and +Block on a Shield) are already factored. Basically, Weapons/Shields factor all the +Stats on them that are character independent. +Crit Chance, +Crit Damage, +Attributes (STR, DEX, INT) all depend on the stats of the character looking at them rather than anything with the weapon itself so that's why they don't change the damage range on the weapon or the listed DPS; +100 INT for someone's Wizard is a lot different than mine, for example.

It's to prevent item duping, not botting; ideally they'll have something to deal with bots but since I don't think any MMO/MMO-like game has managed that yet...

That's the exact build I used to get through Normal with my DH. I just finished it last night. Works great. Nightmare I needed to add caltrops because of the fast gap closing mobs. They were wrecking me. With that I added the passive that gives 15% damage boost to slowed mobs. Works wonders.

On that same note, I just spent about 20 minutes in the gold auction house for my newly nightmared DH. I pretty much rushed through normal (I don't get a lot of time to play) with +xp gear and my stats were atrocious. Those 20 minutes and about 100k gold made the following significant modifications to my DH:

DPS 600 to 1300
Magic Find 15% to 33%
Health 1300 to 3600
Xp per kill from 66 to 99

Pretty good jump for me. Going to start my fast trek through nightmare now. Basically just trying to catch up to my friends and get to 60.

At worst, gold becomes useless as a tool and all that will matter is RMAH. Which means that people will sell ONE good item then trade there with the gathered money. Golds will not be bought as the Gold ah becomes empty, but a good item will still worth a ton due to the nature of demand/supply...

...that is, if Blizzard does fix all exploitable chess/stuff runs in Inferno, like ASAP.

I would say that the bots running D2 were more of a problem than duping. And duping was dealt with via item destruction on duplicates. Aside from that, the items that were duped in D2 were static items (high runes, SOJ (lol), uniques). In D3, we aren't operating on the same economy. If something gets duped, it's going to be a super high value rare--and that would presumably quickly be destroyed on the AH via ItemID duplication (or whatever, presumably more advanced, system they are using now) as it is very easy to tell that it is a duplicate, not just one of a billion Zod runes up for auction.
