I haven't heard anything about a new Digimon season/series.
Okay thanks.I haven't heard anything about a new Digimon season/series.
Skip Digimon World 1 through 4, they're not very good and/or haven't aged well at all. I made a semi-detailed post about each game, but it was a while ago and I don't know if I can find it through GAF search.I've also wanted to play a Digimon game, but I'm not sure if any of them are good.
DW3 isn't awful, and does a good job with the turn-based style of RPG fights, but the lack of any quick-travel options hurts the game badly. Not to mention it's easy to forget your next objective. I've owned the game for years, and I STILL have no clue what I'm supposed to do next.
DO NOT touch DW4. It's easily one of the worst games I've played. It tried to hook people with the X-Men Legends style of gameplay (4P co-op, leveling and equips, etc.), but it failed miserably in the execution. I couldn't get rid of the game fast enough.
The DS games are fantastic. They have a system in place similar to Pokemon's EVs, but it's even less required and much easier than Pokemon. The battles look really simplistic with barely any animations, but it's not a huge deal. Digivolving is also different from the other games. Each Digimon has a level cap that can only be raised by digivolving up or down a level. DW4 tried this system, but the game botched it by having your stats reset to 1 each time. In the DS games your stats don't reset, but they rise/fall accordingly. You can eventually max out your stats by constantly digivolving, and by putting them into your "farms" (which is the equivalent of Pokemon's PCs) where they can do individual training and raise certain stats and elements. It's very, very in-depth and also surprisingly simple.
Digimon World Championship plays kinda like Pokemon Ranger, where you control everything with the stylus, but the battles themselves are random in the sense that you only control where your team moves. You have to hope that they use the moves you have assigned them. A friend of mine who loved World DS and Dawn/Dusk didn't like Championship at all.
Already not really liking Digimon fusion. Part of why I didn't care as much about Frontier is how they basically got rid of the mega>ultimate>champion>rookie rankings.
Apparently it's the same "saban music" used before. Which is weird.Does nobody at Saban know how to sound mix? The music kept blaring over the dialogue and it was hard to hear anything.
Maybe I'm just so used to dubs actually keeping the original music that hearing completely replaced soundtracks is bothersome.
Just something I found out recently. Animated kids shows (like Digimon) sound so much better in German than in English. I don't know why, but the German voices sound more dignified. That's funny, because I try to avoid the German language as much as possible when it comes to games or movies.![]()
Wow, that's rather...
You do know that levels are pointless in Digimon anyway? That's why this series throws that thing away.

Just feels weird seeing mammothmon be so badass in the first few seasons and then see a bunch of them combine and go out like pussies in the first episode. The first episode also felt more like Power Rangers than Digimon.
I love the German dubs of Digimon. They did a great job with both the voices and the songs. The English dubs don't even come close! I love that they made German versions of the Japanese songs. Wish the Swedish dubbers for once could put in that kind of effort in a series...

Digimon Dawn/Dusk are the go-to games, though. Very good on their own, and also have some Pokemon-like traits when it comes to breeding.
EDIT: Found my post

They're only pointless in season 4 and season 6. Probably my two most disliked seasons.
Do any of the DVD sets have Japanese voice with subs?
Not really. They're also pointless in older seasons.
I remember MagnaAngemon being OP and beating Mega Digimon in first 2 seasons, so I'd agree that rankings are mostly useless outside of videogames.
You also forgot Savers which pretty much have "levels", but it's pointless anyway since the show runs on hot-bloodedness and self determination (much like Xros Wars).
Really, levels aren't really that important in a show that relies on "friendship and determination" as aspects anyway.
According to Zap2it, Nickelodeon's already dropping Digimon Fusion. The viewership figures have been pretty awful so far, but wow.
Ratings:
Episode 1: 1.152 million
Episode 2: 859,000

I watch Nick (well mostly Nicktoons) a lot and there's been 0 commercials for it since the first episode to the point I've forgotten about it the last 2 weeks.
Have you seen Power Rangers MegaForce commercials?
Not recently. The commercial with it and Digimon Fusion hasn't been on since. On Nicktoons the only recent Power Rangers commercials I've seen are a tribute to the red ranger by airing episodes from much older seasons in a week or two.
I'm still in the first half of Season 02 and I have concluded that Season 02 fucking sucks no matter what language it's in. And damn, I'm not even at the really bad stuff yet.
Edit: Holy shit, the Dark Ocean/Undersea Master stuff wasn't a dubbing thing, but was a legitimate dropped plot point? This fucking show.
That's what happens when you add unnecessary, comical sfx, terrible dub names, and awkward censorship.
where did you see this?
8 year olds in 2000 didn't care about that. 8 year olds in 2013 wouldn't either.
