[Digital Foundry] Mario Kart World - Nintendo Switch 2 - Digital Foundry Tech Review

Nintendo arguably perfected the circuit-based kart racing formula with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the original Switch - and producing more of the same would likely be a case of diminishing returns. Enter Mario Kart World for Switch 2, which sees the developers move the action into an open world, packed with courses old and new. Oliver goes in-depth on the new game, analyses its core technology, compares the revamped courses to the originals, then shares his initial thoughts on the gameplay and Nintendo's whole take on the open world concept.

1080p handheld and 1440p docked. 60fps

Seems solid.
i just cant understand why this isnt on OG Switch, i know that they need a "killer app" to sell more SW2 but this is pretty much doable on the OG system if Nintendo lowered some settings and textures.

Probably at 720p30 in docked mode and 12 cars.

Nintendo didn't need to put it on the Switch. MK8 was selling more than enough so they kept it, waiting years for the Switch 2.

It's also why they haven't put out any other games so far or announced their other 30 million sellers. They don't need to. It's a position no one has been in yet, we'll have to see if their secretive gamble works or if they rush out a direct of things once the launch hype dies down.

So it's the same shit as the previous one + open world but somehow it's a revolution?

Not sure if this is just your assumption or conclusion from watching, but you couldn't be more wrong.

It plays vastly different than MK8, from both the karts themselves to the course design/structure. There's a big focus on alternate/multiple paths, different terrain types and how they change the driving dynamics.

Only Nintendo gets a pat on the back for basically redoing their games for 30 years.
The knock out mode is.... Okay... But the game itself is so copy and paste.... It puts me to sleep.
I've been playing more super mario world than the new Mario kart so far.

The same can be said about every racing game…

If you want to sell a console you need exclusives. 8 was the most popular title on the OG switch.

This is how you sell consoles, its not rocket science.

fun fact, MK8 is a wiiU game and you been playing a port for a entire generation, Nintendo Switch is the only Nintendo console since SNES that never got an "exclusive" MK game.

Yeah lower the frames, lower res, lower graphical detail, lower everything and add in loading everywhere ...eventually it would run on the Switch.

another Nintendo shill that forgot that MK8 is a fucking WiiU port and that Mario Kart World was planned to SW1 but canned when MK8 didnt stop selling, but you are right, it would need some tweaks here and there, but it would run just fine.

Also it seens that SW1 is not good enough anymore :(
