Digital Foundry: Oblivion Remastered PC: Impressive Remastering, Dire Performance Problems

I had no idea that ran on unreal 5. I'm assuming they gutted most of the features to get it running that well.
Im not entirely sure. On PC, I am running everything on High and Lumen on, I believe Medium. I run at a frame cap at 160 since my 1440p UW is 175Hz. It stays locked at 160fps. Using a 5070ti and a 14th Gen i7.

it has lumen but you can disable it
it doesn't have nanite
ue4 ue5 games, often run great in limited maps. marvel rivals is the perfect choice for that as a result
the game still has insane ram requirements on PC though
and with lumen enabled game gets quite CPU limited and has unstable frametimes with lower end CPUs (ryzen 5600). if you have a very powerful CPU, the game is smooth all the way

all in all it has somewhat decent optimization

I have crashes for days, but almost zero stuttering problems. Probably, the worst crashing I've ever seen. Like 20 crashes in like 40 hours.
Over 20 hours, 1 crash.

But I experience stutter occasionally, nothing bad but I can notice it. No idea where it comes from, hardware is as powerful as it can get. Have no issues with Avowed, also UE5, it runs smooth as butter.

I saw a post that reflex can cause stutter. Will try deactivate that.

I disabled reflex since for some bizarre reason it was costing me around 8-10fps.

Will try that asap, someone mentioned earlier that it added micro-stutters and I think that's what's happening, tiny hitches occasionally, never actually seen it on the fps counter

I have 5800x3d, a amd 6800 16 gig, and 32 gigs of ram and the stuttering is awful. Almost unplayable.

I have most stuff at medium and get around 60 fps or more but there is lots of issues.

5800x3d as well, ive stopped until this gets patched up some more. issues on both ms pc and stream versions.

In a good way? (and on PC?).

I think it's a legit hot 'fix'. Both console and PC are seeing improvements in performance, the PC version losing upscaling options in the settings seems to be a byproduct and should be fixed in the next patch.

On the console, the Performance mode sees up to 16fps performance gains in some bottlenecked areas. That's almost a 20~25% improvement.

For me, the game ran the worst when you first entered the outside world. It no longer runs that bad anymore. I assumed it was caching shaders in the background or something.

Yes, that was reported by BenchmarKing; basically there is (was?) a bug where, even you had completed the initial shader comp step, it gets relaunched arbitrarily after restarting the game, and it stays in the background causing stutters and whatnot. Hopefully the patch addressed that.

Upscaling is back with the latest patch. It definitely performs better too.
is reflex weird buggy on your end? maybe it runs properly with frame gen. can you try without frame gen?

it looks like it does nothing for latency? and game is incredibly high latency even when not GPU bound. really weird game

i'm looking at nvidia latency stats and disabling and enabling reflex does almost nothing to latency

Based on latency monitor and general feeling reflex works for me without frame gen:
