DNC suspends Sanders campaign access to database after staff breached Hillary's data

That press conference was...woof. The sanders Reddit meltdown is interesting to watch. Somehow this makes them hate Hillary more.

The Sanders subreddit is crazy. I think a lot of Hillary fans here end up arguing against the Sander subreddit folks when most of his fans here are pretty sane. I was just in the subreddit, and a lot of them really do seem to buy in to the conspiracy argument.

Pretty convenient for the DNC to do this after only posting 4 debates before the primaries.

Yep, no corruption at all.

I can't believe there are people who believe this type of tripe, after what the media considers coverage.

*EDIT*

And i'm sure they are happy to do it, they just needed any kind of ammunition against him from any angle.

Bernie himself being silenced is the worst part, cause now its on him.

The fired staffer from Bernie's camp is on MSNBC saying he accessed their information and made copies of her voter lists in order to make a record of it to prove to the DNC that others could do it and that their own information could have been accessed like that as well.

..Why not simply state it was possible? Does that claim fall on deaf ears? I know it generally does at corporations unless the exploit is made public, but I would fucking hope a political organization doesn't have the same mindset. That makes this stupid shit a damned-if-you-do-damned-if-you-don't horse to sit on.

The Sanders campaign did notify them in the past when a similar opening was found (this was stated by Debbie Wasserman Schultz). Sounds like the DNC/vender did not take it seriously because here it is again. This is at least the 2nd time it has happened that people know of.

Ffs.

Admitted to making copies of her voting list on a national TV broadcast.

That will play well in the news cycle.

Poor Bernie, it's sad, that this dumb guy was working for him.

oh man. Bernie looks so sad when he was being asked about what happened. :(

Yeah, I felt really bad for Bernie there. I don't think he personally had anything to do with it, but christ, he has some really bad staffer choices and that campaign manager did him no favors in the small conference they just had.

I actually feel bad for him because none of this is his fault in a direct sense and it is going to seriously damage him. But at the same time, damn, you hired some really bad people Bernie. Something like this was going to happen sooner or later if that's the guy making your press conference and the guy who got fired is representative of the people in important positions

Yeah pretty much. Bernie is responsible for the behavior of his staff and it does reflect on him as a leader. This is going to be hard for this campaign to recover from.

Steve (from MSNBC, guy with the glasses, forget his last name) was like bewildered and basically asked him this and reiterated it several times just to make sure he was actually saying what he was saying and responded something like

"Weeeeelllllllllll uhhhhhh, you know uhhhhhhhhhhh, I wasn't doing anything that, I didn't know that the DNC didn't have full knowledge of what I was trying to do, becauuusee uhh, I never tried and hide anything that I was doing from them"

This is like that scene in Casino where Rothstein fires that guy that didn't stop a group of obvious cheaters because he was either in on it or else he's just a fucking moron.

I gave the Sanders campaign the benefit of the doubt when the story broke, but this is looking pretty bad.

Man Bernie Sanders already had enough against him running against Hillary. He needed this like he needed a hole in the head.

So this is what DWS, the head of the DNC, said about Sanders campaign on CNN a few moments ago:

"Unfortunately, the Sanders campaign doesn't have anything other than bluster at the moment that they can put out there"

Are these words something you would expect from someone who has to hold an impartial role? Has DWS mistook Sanders for a GOP candidate or what?

To the people who wonder how he ended up with such irresponsible campaign staff remember Hillary has all the Clinton people as well as ALL of Obamas big name staffers. Obamacare campaign staff more or less universally went to work with Clinton. There was no one experienced in running successful presidential campaigns left who did not go work for Hillary.

How is it that this isn't being viewed as an issue? If I was CEO of this company you can bet I would be keeping my political opinions to myself. Guess I'm just politically naive.

Because, unless you think this is a conspiracy, he's not the one that accessed the data and made copies.

It is the job of the DNC to support the Democratic Party's Presidential Nominee.

If true, then this is the damned situation I spoke about in reference to the corporate world.

Acknowledge a problem to those in charge? ZzzzzZzzzZzzz.

Do something to make it public? BURN THE FUCKER.

Somehow, the group with the known exploit wins, and the people calling it out get in trouble. Puzzling.

Quite a shame that, again, if true, shows that a solution to a problem such as this is to hope all involved fucking ignore it. :(

Yeah I didn't think she came across the great either. How many times did she use the same unlocked house analogy? I don't know, I think I need a drink. It's 5 pm somewhere.

I saw it and cringed. It was real WTF-moment.

DWS is terrible. This entire situation only plays into the GOP's hands.

This is probably the sole statement that every single Democrat barring DWS herself will agree with at this point.

Don't you think this companies position would require that all attempts are made to appear impartial?

The guy's political beliefs have nothing to do with any of this. He could be a hardcore Trump supporter and it would change nothing.

Its 100% true. Came out of Debbie Wasserman Schultz's own mouth on CNN. She stated that it "was not in dispute".

Well its nothing new, Hillary has resorted to the GOP tactics of saying 'giving people free stuff is just unrealistic' plenty of times against Bernie. So acting like this against someone they want to destroy isn't unrealistic.

Well, If you watched the response from Sander's campaign manager just before, it's somewhat understandable. The guy was completely off the rails, threatening to take the DNC to court on camera, refusing to accept any responsibility, putting blame on everyone else. It was pretty bad.

I completely disagree. This company is the caretaker of highly sensitive information that can have a major impact on every election. Impartiality should absolutely be expected, especially from the CEO.

What's actually happened is that Bernie has been in Trump's back pocket all along. When it became apparent neither Bernie nor Trump could beat Hillary, they initiated Operation Bulletproof.

Bernie takes the fall in a manner that makes both he and Trump seem utterly unvinvolved, the 30% of his supporters who are reddit Red Pillers automatically assume Hillary Conspiracy and instantly jump to the Trump camp out of disgust and pure Clinton hatred, cementing the necessary votes for Trump to defeat Clinton in the general election.

The only problem with this theory of course being that everyone knows Clinton has Trump on the payroll.

Yes it was. Even if what he is saying is true, it came across as a tantrum.

True, but he can either wither and die here or grow some spine and push forward while demonstrating leadership. It's the one thing Hillary knows how to do - confront shit head-on without blinking. Bernie can't appear on MSNBC looking all sad.

I can totally see the massive incompetence that DWS emanates to make such a claim.

How did such a third wheel to a bicycle get in charge of the DNC? Don't even Democrats find her corrupt and already biased to Hillary before any debate actually started? Like, I can get genuine shills (and I use that word maliciously) like McCaskill calling Bernie's goals and opinions "fringe", but she's just one person of a party. I would hope the head honcho has a very neutral position. I know a rep from Hawaii outright implied she was corrupt on live TV.

That appears to be hard for Schultz to do. I have heard nothing but negativity for this woman since she became in charge. Does PoliGAF even like her?

Explain how this guy's beliefs affected this situation. Did he tempt Bernie's staffers with forbidden knowledge, hoping that one would take a bite from the apple and cause them all to fall from grace? No. Literally nothing about this would have changed in any way. There still would have been a breach, Bernie's team would still be complete and utter morons, and they'd still be in trouble.

If it ends up that this guy was willfully ignorant about the vulnerability of his system, after repeated warnings by the people later caught, then I don't see how his affiliation with Hillary Clinton or the Democratic Party wouldn't be worth at least questioning.

Who said anything about him affecting the situation. This is about this company doing everything they can to remain impartial otherwise it only invites accusations and conspiracy theories. It seems like common sense to me.

How? How would a vulnerability in the system that affects Hillary's campaign point towards collusion between himself and the campaign?

This is low level conspiracy bullshit.

She actively puts all her power into stopping Democrats from running against her Republican friends in Florida like Ros-Lehtinan. The fact this corrupt woman is in charge of the DNC is the biggest joke imaginable.

Makes me lose faith in the entire party.

Hillary never demonstrated leadership. She simply knows how to game the political environment. Bernie can't game because he's not coming from a position of a snake oil salesman.
