DNC suspends Sanders campaign access to database after staff breached Hillary's data

Damn, the Democrats now have their own little exodus in regards to a candidate.

Actually suing? Like, sue if they're truly gateing you out. It's far too early to even assume that's what they're doing, to milk away access.

Seems very prematurely firing a gun. Sure, the DNC is run like shit, but the fault here is on the breach and rightfully so. Some window of punishment should be in order, whether or not the DNC was informed of this before. Arbitrary rules and all of that in the political game.

His campaign is a hot fucking mess. I can't believe they're actually filing suit, like I said he had to have hired these clowns after a city council election in Vermont.

Swinging for the fences. Sorry they didn't give the concession speech that half of GAlF so desperately wants to hear.

He got his message out there, which is all he could have hoped for. He should view that as a sucess, because he was never going to be nominated.

We don't get you guys either. Would it literally kill you to admit your boy fucked up?
Yeah I got no problem facing the fact that somebody dropped the ball here. I think it was likely an overzealous staffer and probably not Bernie saying "Yeah go ahead and try to sneak some shit!"

Yeah but there is no doubt that Sanders has control over how this has been handled since then... and it's been less than stellar.

This seems...rash.

From your previous post saying "this is no big deal"...you still obviously don't get it. Bernie's access to voters is compromised. You didn't even skim through the link you quote or you would have some understanding on HOW BIG THIS ACTUALLY IS, Bernie being blacklisted from voter data.

At least 75k. I'm guessing this is to expedite giving them back their access but what a boneheaded move.

They don't have the time to sit around and patiently wait for the DNC to allow them to continue their campaign.

How in the fuck is the DNC's incompetence being completely glossed over. They compromised sensitive data for each candidate (and apparently this is a recurring issue). Somehow they're the victims though?

BREAKING NEWS: Non-establishment candidate with no corporate backing stands little chance of winning the nomination. We now take you live to the GAF news desk for statements of the obvious and smug gifs.

At this point I'm not sure Sanders is even in control of his campaign, seems like the crazy head staff are calling the shots. At this point it wouldn't surprise me if his staff has been filing the paperwork to get him on state ballots as a third-party candidate without his knowledge.

Politicians gonna politician shit up as usual, and yes, that includes 'change' candidates. Remember how Obama was going to make everything alright back in '08?

It's been frustrating to read a lot of this due to the ignorance of how the VAN actually works. As someone who has used VAN for the last 5 years, I just want to paraphrase Han Solo, "THAT'S NOW HOW THE VAN WORKS!"

Indeed. His message, while credible of itself, is all he can get away with. It will take America time to wake up to what he speaks about to get the change those around him truly want.

Their voices are loud but their presence is small. Until they are loud and large, we will be run with ideas and rules made by the least among us. Even him being president does not change that state of affairs.

Example Votebuilder pages for people to see how one can copy the data without using export functions:
It's a website:
Sohotrightnow

Quik-Mark-6-VoteBuilder-Pennsylvania-Main-Menu.png

From a guide on how to export, but you can see you could just copy the data from the browser once you get it

(yes, their page designs have like not changed since 2001)

Jesus man, his whole team is handling this so unbelievably poorly. This isn't even that big of a deal. A guy fucked up, you fired him. Announce the shit, make sure anything he had is turned in and move forward.

Throwing a lawsuit up so that your team's fuck up STAYS in the spotlight and in the news even long after it would have blown over is some really silly shit. Some self sabotage shit going on here. I just can't....

You mean there are repercussions for accessing data you're not supposed to have? He must really be a socialist if he thinks everything another campaign gathers is his to see.

So many people don't even understand what's happening in this thread. Bernie has been blocked from the data. That's what the lawsuit is about. Jesus Christ. Read the damn lawsuit as it arises many great points. This democracy is dead if people can't read. The lawsuit is essential to get back Bernie's rights to the data so he can run his campaign. If you are for fair elections you'd be supporting this lawsuit.

Bernie what are you doing. How could he sign off on this. It's suicide.

If he doesn't get access back, his campaign is dead anyway. The campaign is literally incapable of contacting Democrats they haven't already contacted while they don't have access; you can't actually campaign at all without it. He doesn't really have a choice.

I think it's a calculated strategic move to try to whip up his supporters into a frenzy. Their persecution complex already predisposes them to believe in conspiracy theories, so trying to muddy the waters like this is smart, if cynical. The message is that unless the DNC makes this all go away Bernie will turn his fans against the Democratic Party.

You could call it the Trump strategy.

Why is he being blacklisted? That's the reason he's blacklisted.

Someone representing his campaign did a dumb thing.

I was saying the campaign's fuck up wasn't that big of a deal. How much of a Bernie slappy must you be to yell at perceived wrongthinkers even when they agree with you?

The alternative is sheepishly apologizing and suspending your campaign while you wait for the benevolent and wise DNC to grant them the great privilege of accessing their own data. AKA: letting your campaign die slowly with a whimper.

They're playing up the "Us against the establishment" angle. Can we think of any other candidates, on either side, that are done no the same thing?

I feel like this is what people are not realizing: the campaign will quickly come to a halt without it. I think the DNC has the right to suspend his access, but I don't know how the agreement works. Maybe the Bernie campaign filed the lawsuit because they fear the DNC will prolong the investigation.

Let Trump sink off to an independent too, and maybe we can start even having political room for third party candidates instead of the binary bullshit.

just from the perspective of intellectual curiosity, I'd rather like to see the alternate world where 2015 is Trump vs. brokered Rubio vs. Sanders vs. Clinton. it'd be... interesting.

Obviously, though, I would lose all respect for Sanders if he actually decided to run as an independent. The Supreme Court is at stake.

But they screwed up! This is their mistake. Sure, it was enabled by a software glitch. But think about what they did for a second, they knowingly accessed and saved data they are not allowed to by their own party's rules.

What? I think it's more for practical reasons, like regaining access to the system.

According to an ABC News poll taken this afternoon, Hillary leads Bernie 59% to 28%, so keep that in mind before going too far down the conspiracy rabbit hole.

Just wait until the Democrats have their next debate on New Years Eve 30 minutes before the ball drops! The Democratic Party respects the process!

Did you read the lawsuit? There are contracts to be upheld regardless of dumb things. You just can't pull the plug. SMH.

Also interest of note in the lawsuit is this tidbit of info regarding a similar circumstance in 2008.

Upon information and belief, a similar security incident arose with the NGP VAN software during the 2008 national presidential primaries, resulting in the unintentional
Case 1:15-cv-02211 Document 1 Filed 12/18/15 Page 5 of 11

transmission of Confidential Information to the campaign of Democratic primary candidate
Hillary Clinton (the “Prior Incident”).

Was Hillary's campaign blacklisted? Nope. The Democratic National Committee is fucking insane. They are not purveyors of equal justice.

That would've been as easy as admitting fault and deleting the stolen data.

They've literally done both of these. Uretsky has been fired and the Sanders campaign insists they don't have the data any more.

And the punishment should be...? End his campaign? Jail time? Take him out of the Senate? How Republican do you want to get with this? Would you be cool with them killing Clinton's campaign if the shoe was on the other foot? Should the DNC not be getting hell for continuously compromising this data for some strange fucking reason?

Really? Desperately? I've seen so much sanders support of this board. Swinging for the fences = illegal espionage? Lol

First off, Lol @ illegal espionage.

Secondly, you misunderstood. The suit is a swing for the fences. The breach was a fuck up.

Not just one person either, even in the legal documentation by their own admission, it says that other four people accessed the documentation with one 'repeated' offended SOB fall guy.

People are naive if they don't think they weren't trying to take advantage of a fault in the system. Conveniently enough, they also chose to breach Hilary's information and not O Malley's.

Hmmm, I wonder why.

Was this not done, though? I mean, perhaps the suing is to try and accelerate a return to access, which is what I gathered it to be.

It's too sudden to even assume pseudo-establishment games of pushing him away, so that can't be the ammo. It's probably a way to fix this ASAP, as in America, you always fix things by suing.

Could the prior incident made this a rule going forward? Not trying to run with the "DNC is shady shit" entirely here, but the fact they state a prior incident shows that this is apparently common for their shitty service.

Shots fired. Yeah, it's Bernie's fault...ffs. Really? Bernie out of all people to intentionally steal campaign data?
