There's no reason the chameleon circuit can't transform the TARDIS into the form of a functioning human being. It's done some crazy things in the past.
Eh, chalk it up to personal taste then. I thought that 10 did the "lighthearted mask" in a way that didn't annoy me quite as much, but everyone's got opinions...
I'll just leave this here.

I thought it was broken.
The sixth Doctor had it fixed for an episode.
What the...
The BBC turned down director Nicolas Winding Refn (Drive, Bronson) to direct an episode of Doctor Who last year:

I find Smith to be somewhat more believable than Tennant when he's suppose to be boiling over with anger. Tennant seemed to be parodying himself when he got angry in my opinion.
I think the exact opposite - I've never found Matt Smith to be convincingly angry in any of his episodes.
Although it was an altogether terrible episode (criminal underuse of the demon headmaster as well!), I thought his anger pretty convincing at the end of the beast below.

His epic moments like the stonehedge speech come off more cringe worthy than epic, i almost felt embarrassed for him.
As far as I can tell, it was *supposed* to. The Doctor was pulling out one of his "I'm the saviour of the universe" speeches (which to me are more a trait of Ten than Eleven, but have obviously carried over more than once), but he was completely wrong about everything.
Is any of the classic Who in HD? Stuff like Tom Baker and onwards.

I'm starting to like Smith's season 5 than season 6 in general. I think they definitely ratcheted up the 'quirky' dial after season 5 when they knew that he was popular.
Eccleston was a lot more like more like the early Doctor's. He could be a fun loving but off kilter type, but he also had a deep disdain for aspects of our culture/personality at the same time. That's been downplayed a lot since. I also think he did 'angry' the best of the NewWho Doctors as well.
Eccelston was incredible in that scene in "Dalek". None of his successors have matched that level of complete rage.

Just re-watched Amy's Choice. I wasn't too hot on it the first time I saw it, but after re-watching I think its definitely one of my favorite episodes from Smith's run. Some pretty scathing commentary by The Dream Lord that's all the more delicious knowing that he's a manifestation of the Doctor.
.The wackiness is a mask, and as such a rather important element of his character. With 11 they managed to do what they were trying to do with 6 but failed miserably.
And this is why Amy's Choice is in my top three s5 episodes. That ending pings my heart with emotion to this day, and I can't really suss out what it actually is. Excitement? Sadness? Suspicion?
In any case, I loved it.
Nope.Am I missing something? Is there something clever here besides the juxtaposition of references to two different franchises?
I believe "Spearhead From Space" was the only serial shot on film, and therefore HD-able.
Just got into watching this(the new series, want to watch the old series later.) I'm in the middle of the second season. I loved the last episode of the first season :O
So it's actually not even possible? That is depressing.
Er, when you say new series do you mean new or new-new?
Um, better question: who is the current companion? Amy Pond or Rose Tyler?
Haha, guess I'm confused. I just got into it! Rose Tyler is the current companion.

Eccleston still looks and acts like the missing Chuckle Brother. Would have ruined his whole run for me if RTD's writing hadn't done that first.

My wife has been rewatching all of new Who (I have been cherry picking when I watch), and damn does it hurt to just be in the room when Daleks in Manhattan is playing.
That two parter has to be the worst of the first six seasons. What is worse than that?
It is unbearably bad. "I..am..a...Human Dalek!!"
I just cant bring myself to sit and watch it. It is playing in the background right now while my wife watches. In fact, most of season 3 hurts for me to watch. So many episodes I love, and I especially love the set up through the whole season for The Master, but the end just still hurts nearly 5 years later.
But Blink overrules any reservations I have. That I can watch on repeat.
They bungled The Master so badly. I actually really like Utopia. It's a great setup, with maybe the coolest Doctor Eho cliffhanger ever.
But then we got Gollum Doctor. :/
Uptopia is so awesome. I even love The Sound of Drums. But the end of Last of the Time Lords is so horrible (I have been VERY vocal about this on here. Almost incessantly) that it has scarred almost the entire third and fourth season. It has ruined RTD for me. I dont care how many great things he was involved in or produced, he will always be on my shit list for Last of the Time Lords.
I really liked Sound of Drums and yeah, Last of the Time Lords was downright terrible. Worst Deus Ex Machina I've ever seen in the series (or just about any story)
Yeah, the parts you mention were pretty good. But that comeback was just utterly utterly horrible. Its the most explicitly the writers have ever shown their fanboy nature.Last of the Time Lords is actually not that bad for most of it. I love the twist of the Toclafane and the idea of a paradox machine. The whole build up of "How is The Doctor going to stop this? This is fucking insane!" to ultimately be "I forgive you." Hugs all around. I puke in my drink next to me.
Why do I talk about it? It only makes me mad to think about it. I will watch the few episodes in 3 that I love, but I will have to leave the room for Last of the Time Lords. I dont want to smash the television.
