God damn that Jesus Forgives Doctor.

Bring on more "God forgives, I don't" Doctor, like when he fucked up those 3 aliens, too tired to remember what ep that was. Blood and something.

Family of Blood. He did not forgive Viserys Targaryen in that episode. So fucking good. It showed the Doctor's human side as well as his unforgiving side. Those two episodes were highlights of season 3. Two more episodes until those come up on my wife's rewatch, and then the incomparable Blink.

And I will rewatch the shit out of Utopia. And just imagine how amazing it would have been to have kept Derek Jacobi around as The Master. He would have been scary as all hell. That is why I hope the rumors of Cumberbatch as The Master are true. He would make a terrifyingly imposing villain.

LOL oh lord, I just pictured Matt Smith rolling in the Tardis while Rick Ross' "I'm a Boss" is playing on the speakers.

Filming on Series 7 is starting very soon, so some details are coming in:

Doctor Who Magazine have revealed that Toby Whithouse and Chris Chibnall will be writing for the seventh series.
Whithouse’s episode is currently pencilled in as the third episode of the series and will be one of the last episodes to feature Amy and Rory.
Toby is of course very familiar to sci-fi fans as the showrunner on the BBC Three hit Being Human, which started its fourth series on Sunday. He’s also written three episodes of Doctor Who, notably School Reunion which saw the late Elizabeth Sladen’s triumphant return to the role of Sarah Jane Smith.
Although it’s not yet known where Chris Chibnall’s episode will fit in the running order, it’s fair to say that his will probably be one of the first to be filmed given that DWM mentions that production designer, Michael Pickwoad is currently working on a set for the episode that will be the largest set that the series has ever built.
Chibnall was the lead writer on Torchwood’s second series and more recently on ITV’s Law & Order: UK and Camelot for Starz, which unfortunately suffered by comparison to HBO’s Game of Thrones adaptation.

Whithouse wrote School Reunion, The Vampires of Venice and The God Complex.
Chibnall wrote 42, The Hungry Earth & Cold Blood

How long should it be before series 6 hits Netflix? Just got into the show a few weeks ago and now that I've watched the first 5 I'm eager for series 6.

It's almost time. New monsters are becoming real, old friends are returning to Cardiff and somewhere in Wales, a tweed jacket is being taken from its hanger and lovingly dusted off. It can only mean one thing... Filming on the new series of Doctor Who begins on 20 February, 2012!
The first director to shout 'action' will be the award-winning Saul Metzstein whose previous credits include Micro Men (starring Alexander Armstrong and Martin Freeman), the critically acclaimed Late Night Shopping and BBC Wales' Upstairs Downstairs. For the very first time, Doctor Who will be produced at the new BBC Roath Lock Studios in Cardiff, which officially open in March.

Wife has been marathoning seasons 1-6 while I have been cherry picking episodes. I have a drinking game for everyone.

Take a shot anytime the Doctor says "RUN!"

New rule i came up with tonight: Take a shot anytime the Doctor apologizes or says "Sorry!"

Call an ambulance after a few minutes.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.

I am very okay with this.

I remember hearing RTD's plans to do a Doctor Who and Enterprise crossover that fell through when Enterprise was struck with cancellation the same year New Who premiered. At least they're using the TNG cast here, much better choice.

At least the shots in that last part will go down drastically when you reach Eleven. He rarely apologizes.

Wait, wait, wait. Amy and Rory are leaving???

Amy Pond is pretty much the whole reason I'm watching. Very disappointed to hear this.

If you're watching Doctor Who, then you better prepare yourself for doctor regenerations and companion changes. :p I love them, but I'm ready for new companions.

My wife and I have been picking through the Big Finish stuff, especially as we've been travelling a lot lately. I'm really enjoying with what they did with Paul McGann's doctor after the TV movie. There are moments where he almost seems like the prototype for Ten.

i'm rewatching the first four series at the moment on netflix and it's only in retrospect that you can appreciate how much improved the production values are in the series 5 and 6

You know, I prefer the original Star Trek crew, but I'm actually glad to see they're using the Next Gen crew in this crossover.

Because I really don't want Kirk sleeping with Amy Pond.

Enterprise did have that one episode in which they found a craft that was bigger on the inside than the outside. It had one dead occupant and I think it turned out to be a space/time machine.

Agreed. I watched a fan-made music video that used clips from Seasons 1-4 and Seasons 5-6. The changes were rather jarring.

Future Tense.

Rumor has it, that episode was originally supposed to be a Doctor Who crossover, but that aspect of it fell through relatively early in the process.

And yes, they find a craft that's about the size of an escape pod, and they unscrew something from the floor and find there's a whole other section down a ladder inside.

Also, it's from the future and causes localized time loops if you're close.

i just got to The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit

i love this two-parter so much considering it's basically a slightly retooled retelling of the plot from Doom

it's foreboding as heck (PLANET ORBITTING BLACK HOLE, "HE BASKS IN THE LIGHT OF THE BLACK SUN"), the music is the first time that the music in the reboot hit a real peak (for serious, it's STUNNING, some serious BSG-esque awesome going on here), the setting was great, the visual effects didn't look ropey, it hits emotional highs ('if you talk to rose, just tell her...tell her...oh, she knows')

it just feels like a classic tom baker-esque episode updated for the current series and i love it to bits

Oh, I am so there. Please inform us when this is available and where one can purchase said comic book without having to step foot in a comic book store if possible.

Aww, man. I always miss the best Who shirts. I bought The Doctors, but I would so much rather have this one. Oh wells. I also got that Calvin and Hobbes Community shirt on the way too.

For some reason I automatically read that in David Tennant's voice. I miss David Tennant some times.

Wife and I are almost done with the series 5 rewatch. Rory is just so much more awesome in series 5 after having seen series 6. The part in Pandorica Opens where he asks who gave Amy the blanket plays so different. Before it was "Oh, Rory is just the insecure and goofy boyfriend that wants to know who gave his fiance a blanket." Now it is "Rory is about to go shank someone for flirting with his wife." Love it.

There needs to be more badass male companions like Rory and Jamie.

San Diego, CA (February 13, 2012)—In conjunction with BBC Worldwide Consumer Products and CBS Consumer Products, IDW Publishing will make history when two of the greatest science-fiction properties of all time come together in a comic book for the first time. The world’s most popular time traveler teams up with the U.S.S. Enterprise crew in STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION/DOCTOR WHO: ASSIMILATION2, taking fans on an adventure where no man has gone before.

“By joining these two sci-fi powerhouses, fans will be taken on the ultimate adventure through time and space,” said Liz Kalodner, executive vice president and general manager of CBS Consumer Products.

Launching in May, STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION/DOCTOR WHO: ASSIMILATION2 will feature fan-favorite villains the Borg and the Cybermen as they create an unholy alliance resulting in potential disaster for all humanity. Captain Jean-Luc Picard and the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise find themselves joining forces with the Doctor and his companions, with the fate of the galaxy hanging in the balance.

“We are excited about this new adventure for the Doctor and the fact that he will be travelling with Captain Jean-Luc Picard and his iconic crew. This is a perfect partnership for not only Doctor Who’s incredible fans, but also for the brand. We have just celebrated our most successful year yet. Doctor Who’s latest season delivered record ratings for BBC AMERICA and it was most downloaded full TV seasons of 2011 in the U.S. on the iTunes Store,” says Soumya Sriraman, executive vice president Home Entertainment and Licensing.

This eight-issue series will be written by Scott and David Tipton, the authors of critically acclaimed Star Trek: Infestation, with a helping hand from longtime Doctor Who writer Tony Lee, and will feature fully painted artwork by J.K. Woodward (Fallen Angel).

Fans are encouraged to ask their retailers about the rare wraparound photo cover. Plus, artist Joe Corroney (Star Trek Ongoing) will provide a variant cover featuring the Doctor and friends aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise.

Doctor Who and Star Trek are two hugely successful franchises that began as television series, and have expanded into a number of other media, including comic books, which continue to captivate fans all over the world. Nearly five decades and 1,500 episodes in the making, this is the moment that both Trekkers and Whovians have waited for all their lives!

STAR TREK TNG/DOCTOR WHO: ASSIMILATION2 ($3.99, 32 pages, full color) will be available in stores in May 2012.

I bet it's all RTD's doing too. If he's still in Hollywood, I'm sure he had a hand in this.

Now hopefully online shops start making this available for preorder soon =D

On that note big finish for this weekend have got up the Blood of The Daleks part one for free downloading. If you've been curious about the audios (and they can be better than the tv, honest!)nows the time to try them.
