RORY'S DAD!?!?!

Now, for the episode... Best Dalek episode of the new series without a doubt. Hit all the right notes. Great opener, hopefully the rest of the series stays at the same level. Always fun seeing the Doctor own the Daleks. And we get a little hint about the 'arc', Doc-Tor-Who?

That was a fun episode.

Smelled the twist from a mile away (though I was confused because I thought that it's the new companion)

And this girls name was...Oswin Oswald.

I'm mindfucked.

Like I said,
come Christmas there will be a mindfuck.

I did find it odd that they didn't mention the fields of Tranzalon, the Fall of the Eleventh, but he did mimic the "Doctor WHO" thing from Wedding of River Song.

Probably doesn't remember everything due to the conversion.

I'm no longer special. :(

You'll always be special to me. <3

Is this now an official tradition?
New companions appear in one-off appearances in earlier episodes as different characters?

I'm glad they didn't dump all that foreshadowing back into this episode. Moffat delivered a fun adventure, added in bits of a story arc and just had fun with the Daleks.

Also, I think it's amazing that Jenna's appearance was kept secret in 2012.

Ok that episode was brilliant, I am SO hyped for that person as the new companion, I was pretty down about Amy Pond leaving, but im glad they found such an interesting character to be the replacement.

I really hope she retains her personality and they dont have the same person with a different character if that makes sense, I loved the character.

Now? It started with Martha at the end of S2. Although the only time it was intentional was with Donna and now the Dalek.

You were never special! :p

And the wibbly wobbly starts early, the new companion is already 'dead'! Damn you Moffat, HOW DO YOU DO IT!?

So basically timey wimey rescue.

I'm expecting the Doctor somehow saving the new companion at the risk of erasing his new anonymity with the Daleks.

Seriously, I'm so glad that wasn't spoiled for me.

There is two different ways they can go with Oswin. He saves her pre-conversion so that she's never converted. That would change the events of this episode though. Something to Ponder.

Or, she somehow survived the explosion and the Doctor brings her back from Dalek form. I don't think that's possible.

What if she's not a different character?

Speculation that could be spoilery:
She made mention that her first time seeing the stars was on the spaceship. As thanks, perhaps the Doctor grabs her from before she gets on the Alaska to do just that.

Slightly different, given last time was just something he could use and this time he's clearly written it altogether, if you get me. Big surprise, anyway.

And holy shit is Jenna hot.

Well he's trying to stay hidden, so I guess when the wibbly wobbly occurs it'll screw that up for him and eventually lead to the Fall of the Eleventh.

I'm guessing it's the same character, the doctor can time travel after all. I'm thinking that his new found anonymity will get to his head, he'll go back and prevent her from ever ending up on the asylum planet which will result in some serious business for the end of the season and the 50th anniversary episode.

Edit: Or as mentioned the Doctor might just take her before this happens and she gets about it due to the assimilation. Also I was beaten by miles :(

Series couldn't have opened any better.

THEM LEGS. We need screencaps, STAT.

Yup, this emphasis on him becoming unknown has to be leading to the Fall of the Eleventh.

Great episode.

Although I initially thought the wrist-band just prevented the process from happening - not healed it completely if it began. Felt a bit cheaty.

The more interesting possibility is that Dr finds her on his travels, they do the whole Dr Who thing for a bit, then her season finale is when she ends up on that crashed ship on that Dalek wreck before the events of this episode.

Would be interesting to have a companion that we know is living on borrowed time, although that would kill a lot of the tension as we know she cant die until the moment that its her time.

I also think its interesting the Daleks now dont remember the Dr, I guess that means they have nothing to fear... so whats stopping them from going all out crazy? :p

I would make sweet love to that woman.

Insiders on the show say Clara is more than a match for the Timelord and is a computer whizz who is feisty and flirty.

One of her opening lines to the Timelord is: “Rescue me boy and show me the stars.”

She will initially be referred to simply as Oswin by the Timelord and is played by Jenna-Louise Coleman.

Well, look at that. Didn't think she'd say the opening line until Christmas.

Lovely episode though, still doesn't top The Eleventh Hour, but close.
