Should be a banner across the top of every page:

IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED THE EPISODE, BASICALLY.....RUN!

And if you get spoiled, I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry.

Thinking about it more and more and I definitely think that Clara Oswin will be a post-"Aslyum" character when she comes back this Christmas. Moffat talked a lot about this being a companion unlike any other. A Dalek companion would be pretty fucking unique.

How we get there is another story entirely. I'd like to think that he beamed her up to the TARDIS along with everyone else just before the Aslyum exploded and that he's going to eventually create a human/dalek form for her like we saw in this episode.

There are so many more interesting story ideas you can play with than going with a Pre-Alaska Clara.

That's the one I want to see.

EDIT: NO ONE SHOULD BE USING OSWIN AVATARS UNTIL THE EPISODE HAS AIRED IN NORTH AMERICA

Just in case.

Honestly, Moffat has written himself a great introduction, it's what he does with her that matters at this point.

Great episode.

Bit pissed off about
the memory wipe thing. Hopefully that is undone as part of some sort of storyline later on, as the concept of the Doctor's greatest enemy not remembering all his past victories is... I dunno. I just don't like it. With the show reaching its 50 years it should be celebrating its history. The idea of a Dalek that doesn't know about the events of Genesis, or the Time War, just doesn't sit right to me. The good news is that it is easily undone in a sense; all the Daleks have to do is capture some other live form that has full knowledge of the war (The Cybermen'll do, as they traded memories in the void after 'Doomsday', which is how the Cybermen had record of every regeneration) to redownload.

Oh, and, yes, she's absolutely gorgeous. As someone who always found Karen objectively hot but not my personal cup of tea, Jenna is amaaazing.

I am not okay with having such a crush on a Dalek.

I'll get over it.

Great episode, very nicely done by all involved and a much better return than Let's Kill Hitler was.

I hope Jenna pops up in the next 4 episodes too, getting killed off in extravagant manners each time until the Doctor's head explodes.

One of the Eighth Doctor Big Finish series had a character - the Headhunter - turn up in every episode building to a climax in the final episode. The follow-up series had the same *actress* in every episode, but playing a different character each time. Made it hard to keep up with!

Good fun that, some nice writing. Smith was good as ever, Gillan was hot as ever. But I find the new companion girl annoying and I'm confused already. Oh well.

Next week has some good actors and a great title.

Great opener but I'm sorry to say I really didn't like the actress that played Oswin (aside from her extreme attractiveness). Disappointed to find out she's the new companion.

Thinking further, and playing with "The question you've been running from all your life"...

It's been implied that it's "Doctor Who?". So what does running from that mean?. The outcome for these daleks have implies that it's running from *entities not knowing him*. Does he *seek* fame, and in 'running from' entities being ignorant of him he is in turn making entities know - and fear, or revere - him? Or is the 'running' unintentional, and just a consequence of his actions?

We should stick you in an asylum for such crazy talk (however, the admittance of her attractiveness might save you).

I had my doubts about her casting, but I enjoyed her personality. What Amy has in sass, Oswin seems to have in cheekiness. She seems fun.

Not pure anymore!
The more interesting possibility is that Dr finds her on his travels, they do the whole Dr Who thing for a bit, then her season finale is when she ends up on that crashed ship on that Dalek wreck before the events of this episode.

Would be interesting to have a companion that we know is living on borrowed time, although that would kill a lot of the tension as we know she cant die until the moment that its her time.

I also think its interesting the Daleks now dont remember the Dr, I guess that means they have nothing to fear... so whats stopping them from going all out crazy? :p

They've already done that with River Song.

Love how similar the scene with Oswin/Dalek in chains and the Doctor is shot to the scene with Eccleston and the Dalek from series one. The bit where the camera pans behind Eleven to reveal the dalek is the exact opposite of the reveal in Dalek, where it pans from the dalek in chains to Nine pounding on the door to get out.

Absolutely beautiful.

Perhaps that's SM's tribute to the other best Dalek episode in NewWho.

Nope, sorry, anyone who doesn't like Clara already is loony. She is OOZING with incredible wit, smarts, and omg her eyes.

I love Amy, but only really when its her and Rory. She's fiery and cute, but I feel we've been repeating a lot of the same themes with companions. They all seem...too reliant on the Doctor. Rose showed a bit of finesse at the end of Tennant's run...Martha became a bad ass solider...but they all still melted and became helpless when the Doctor was needed. Amy sort of suffers this as well, but Rory balances her out, being that he is the REAL person in her life that keeps her alive. That's why I like their dynamic so much.

But think about an intelligence equal to the Doctor. Not just a human, but a human with a past (future?) that the Doctor is torn about. Here is this lovely intelligent woman, but at the same time...it's his sworn enemy.

Would be a great look at the Doctor fighting his inner demons.

Thinking about it, is this the episode since The Eleventh Hour with the least I Am The Doctor in the score?

Some excellent music in this; I liked the shift from epic choirs to discordant weirdness for the Daleks.

What is this .gif from? I thought it was from "Once Bitten" but I didn't see this scene.

Oh that was good. That was very, very good.

And I really, really hope Jenna's as much fun as a companion as she was in this episode
