Like I said, hottest Dalek ever!

Considering that the Daleks all share a hive mind, she was probably able to make herself pass as a human, since she has access to their entire system.

I know that the Doctor Who title card is Dalek-inspired, but it looked pretty half-assed compared to the ones from each season before.

please PLEASE tell me you're being sarcastic. Or we can lump this post in the "why dont people like the US" thread.

Really loved the ep. And I want to give a shout out to the ABC here in Australia who had it up on their online viewing site (iview) the same hour that it was airing in the UK on the BBC (at like 5am!)

I tried so hard to stay up to watch it then and there but didn't last lol.

but anyway, so good.

Favourite parts: Amy starting to turn into a dalek, and then for some reason seeing the people dancing. and the scene where the dr first wakes up on the planet, and the little dalek eye keeps popping up in the snow.. and also when Amy is turning into a dalek and Rory is like AMY IS THAT YOU and she slaps him. lol'd

If that was serious then you can truly go fuck yourself. Because some US people have done it doesn't mean you should. It just seems that it would be common courtesy since you know there are Who fans across the pond (pun intended) and a courtesy from one Whovian to another.

I had a slight inkling she was a dalek when she was doing all of these things that the doctor never could or seemed crazy smart. but seeing her human form had me fooled.

There are fans of every show in every other corner of the world. Why should we bend to the wishes of the US fans in every instance?

That was really really good. Assuming her character remains the snappy super-genius character(and the genius didn't just come from being a Dalek) I see this as their chance to redo River Song's character properly this time. That is to say, someone who is close to or as smart, snarky, and quick as the Doctor who he can butt heads with. The problem with River was that she was too infatuated and genuinely involved with him, I want to see 11 and Oswin constantly getting on each others nerves and having a blast doing it. Like Donna but smart

Also hooray for a companion who isn't from contemporary Earth.

The end with all of the Daleks forgetting him was weird, and I feel like we didn't quite get enough weird and insane Daleks inside the asylum. Oh, and the intro felt rushed but now I'm just nitpicking.

STOP SHITTING ON MY MOTHER'S HEADSTONE
watching it again, you notice cool little things

the dancing Ballerina in oswin's music box that gets repeated in amy's hallucination for example

I can see you're just on a US hate tip so I'm done talking to you about this and going back to the show. The only reason I come in these type of threads...

Anyway. Yeah that episode was good. I loved the part in that gif. I felt like Rory on so many occasions right there.

Regardless of your nationality, the rules are in the OP. why should anyone do otherwise to make you happy?

I'm not on a US hate trip, i'm on a people who have shows aired in their country first get to dictate the rules, so follow them hate trip.

Assuming her character remains the snappy super-genius character(and the genius didn't just come from being a Dalek)

I had considered that, but he says that they fully transformed her into a Dalek because they need geniuses (unlike the others who got the half-assed transformation.) So I think it's safe to assume that it is a normal part of her character (and something I know I'm hoping for!)

Oh I think I missed that. Awesome than. Like I said, I want the Doctor butting heads with someone just as quick and snappy as he is (Without River Song's...River-ness)

It was a consideration that was asked for like an hour before the season premiere. regular shows are whatever, but i only asked as a courtesy for an hour of spoiler tags so I could get hyped with my fellow whovians right before the show started. Just because its in the OP doesnt make it law. But like I said it doesn't matter now, things like this are the reason I tend to avoid gaf topics of things I care about too much because some people think like you.

Don't worry I wont be in your hair for the rest of the season.

I'll be happy when Amy is gone. Rory, he can stay, he's awesome. I just feel like Amy oversteps her bounds a bit... She is a companion, not equal to the Doctor, but she sure acts it from time to time. Not that I don't like strong female (or male) companions. Somehow the other companions have managed to be strong and understand that it is the Doctor's world, they're just living in it. I dunno, just irks me. Really looking forward to the next companion.

Jenna-Louise Coleman, laws yes.

This season is shaping up to be spectacular. Solid opening episode.

I was a bit irked at Amy and her whole "2000 years is nothing I gave you up" bit. Pretty passive aggressive kicking someone out for those reasons.

Amy reminds me of a mildly annoying college age girl sometimes. The Doctor has a bit of it as well. I posted a few pages back about how Rory is so effective because he isn't glib or quirky.

Bane? Get them on board, I'll call it in.
Really good episode. Definitely one of the best Dalek episodes and one of the best seasons premieres. I look forward to more Oswin/Clara when Christmas rolls around.

Someone in the thread mentioned that erasing the Dalek's memory of the Doctor allows for all new stories to be written without relying on past events. That makes sense.

Also, THAT'S how you do a human Dalek. No shoving New York businessmen up your ass and coming out with a tentacle-headed freak that crosses so many silly lines and never feels like a threat. Yeah that two-parter sucked...
It also helps that they can do that to dead people too, allowing for ZOMBIE DALEKS.

It's just crossed my mind that Moffat has done something very, very clever.

What was one of the principle complaints about the last season? "Too complicated for kids to follow".

What we have here, though, is a meta-mystery, if you like. Something to make the older folks who follow the show wonder, ask questions, and puzzle over, but it's also something that just you're just *not aware of* if you haven't been following the news behind the scenes; you can enjoy the show *without* this getting in the way. The best of both worlds!

Then I apologise. I understand your position now :) I just am slightly fed up with people coming in here and expecting spoiler tags for a week.. as it always happens.

Moffat used her hotness to distract us from the fact that she was a Dalek CONFIRMED. Truly, a visionary.

God, good God, good God almighty that was amazing. Moffat once again proves he can be on fire when he's writing a self-contained story episode and not getting bogged down in twisty convoluted season-long plots.

Definitely the best Dalek episode since, well, Dalek. The asylum was legitimately frightening and scary, and seeing the Doctor actually scared of all the Daleks in the intensive care area was refreshing.

And of course, Oswin. Holy crap. I love Amy and Rory, but Oswin is my new favorite companion just from one episode. I hope she is the exact same in personality when she shows up again. She's also smoking hot, as much as Karen Gillian is attractive Jenna-Louise Coleman is way, way, way more my type. That dress, her legs, wow. This episode has gotten me ramped up and excited for the second half of the series. I'm super impressed that they managed to keep her appearance under wraps for this long. Thank God there are some people left in television that feel the need to keep some plot points secret.

The way Moffat has described the character I get the impressions this is what we will get from the new companion.

I thought the episode was great. The reveal at the end on great, I didn't expect that. The eggs and milk should have been more than enough to know something was wrong but I didn't think about it. Ah, I love twists.

Thoughts on the episode:

1) Amy & Rory split seemed rushed even with Pond Life. I know it's supposed to be at least 2 years since WoRS, but they could have dropped more subtle hints, like separate beds or something.

2) Title and opening seemed really washed out. Maybe it was better in HD, but it looked cheap in SD.

3) "Is that Melia's voice?! It is! But she's not supposed to be on until Christmas. Moffat, you magnificent bastard!"

Overall a great episode. I'm already looking forward to Christmas. I don't think Moffat will rehash River or Tesseract plots, so I'll go with "use human cells from Dalek-Oswin to make flesh-avatar Clara."

Nice plot, too. The Daleks send in the Doctor to take out the genius they can't control, and instead she winds up giving him a major anonymity boost.

I'm still going with Dalek/Human Oswin avatar and making her back into a real girl will be part of the plotline.

Ooh, I forgot about the Flesh. You might be onto something there, but I'm not sure if Moffat will use a plot device from last season.

Haha, that's dead on about Amy. And I think you are right about Rory, he is a very effective foil to Amy and the Doctor's antics.

Her last word to The Doctor (and us) before she looks directly into the camera "Remember" makes me think she may have even uploaded her consciousness to something. Maybe the TARDIS. Very Star Trek II.

Loved the episode-definetely interested in how the Oswin story will play out-

And while she is hot as fire-I am one of the few people that found her...annoying. :(

I loved the rest of the episode though. "I was looking for reverse."

Oh, also, I was glad they mentioned the whole 2000 year wait thing. That was what bugged me about the idea of them getting divorced: you don't just divorce someone you waited 2000 years for.

The Library! Where she meets River, and then the Doctor somehow revives them both and voila! They then meet with Jenny and Capt. Jack for some reason, and we all have fun watching their antics!

Normally I am annoyed by that type of character (don't like River, not a huge fan of 11, although he's getting better) but for some reason Oswin works for me. At least what we've seen so far. If she becomes infatuated with the Doctor then we might have a problem.

I'd agree, if not for the issue of where to store her in the meantime. He can't get her before these events (after her conversion), not even Moffat is that loose with time travel. There isn't an after, as the Asylum has been blasted. The present is tricky, as she was nowhere near the teleport and they made a big deal about its limited power.

That leaves early early meeting (before the Alaska), but that follows the River plot too closely.

NEW SPECULATION: TWINS!!!

Oswin Oswald is the twin of Oswin Clara. The PR clip just switched the order to western norms!

Ha, yeah that was bothering me too. I would say it kind of bothers me that she didn't talk to him about her problem, but well... Amy being Amy.

Given her reason, I doubt there was a gradual separation between them. I can see her just one day up and making a decision to kick him out without really giving him any notice or reason.
