Oh god, I just realized that other than the next two specials, that's it for our current doctors - that's all of their stories. The next set will be a new Doctor. :(

I don't read the books so I have no idea who you're talking about, but season four is going to comprise of the back half of a storm of swords.

Good news, everyone!

Mark Gatiss was just cast in Game of Thrones!

Hopefully this means he'll be too busy to write for show next series.
Why would I hope for that when he wrote the best episode of last series?

It won't affect him anyway. Loads of people do work outside of GOT, and Gatiss always has a load of projects on the go at any given time.
Any Who news coming up from Comic Con? Is there a panel?

Edit: Just saw. It's the 21st.

EXCITE.
We'll almost certainly get an Adventure In Time and Space trailer, and I'd be very unsurprised if we were to get a trailer for the Anniversary special too.

Did anybody watch tonight's episode of The Daily Show?

A marching band popped up and started playing I Am The Doctor. Random.

Just did a quick search on Youtube for this and, yeah, it sounded a bit of an odd arrangement but that was definitely I Am The Doctor - I wonder if there's any significance behind deciding to have some random Who music playing. Anyone reckon there will be new news released soon?

Maybe John Oliver is the
next Doctor or would appear in the next series
.

I think he would be fun in the role but he's far too expensive. Wouldn't have the time either. I don't want someone to show up for an entire series before we need another regeneration.

I'm so exhausted right now. This week has been insane. Even with the other instructor and I pre-cutting all of the pieces for the Dalek assembly we still went half an hour over our time on Friday getting everything together.

Picture dump time!

First up the TARDIS we built with a couple weeks ago with another class. It didn't get finished, but last week some of the kids came back in to finish the roof and signboxes, so all we need to do now is the phone-box and the windows.

This weeks class also focused on making a Weeping Angel, which turned out super well. The arms and head are even poseable.

Most of the Dalek turned out super well, although we still need a few strips of plastic we can use to cover the seams between the midsection and the base. The dome though...yeah...we spent all week trying to figure out how to make the dome. We ended up layering copious amounts of putty and such over some fabric which was over a ribbed skeleton I cut out on a laser cutter. But the kids absolutely loved it and yeah, that's what matters.

Overall super fun week. Keeping six plates spinning in the air at the same time is when I feel most alive :p

The bad thing is that you got 10th's instead of 11th's? Because it looks like a pretty cool gadget/show-piece/conversation starter to me. Bit pricey maybe.

I passed on 11s because I felt the bits of the screwdriver that are silver looked a bit tacky and it didn't extend, plus it's quite bulky.

10's has no such problem as it's painted all over anyway, is smaller, and has the extending bit. I also sort of prefer it in general - but only just - so I really couldn't resist.

You know, if you don't have any of the seasons on dvd or bluray, the box set is a really great deal. Going by Amazon if you bought all of the seasons individually it is around $370 for all of them. Add another ~$90 for the Sonic Screwdriver remote. The boxset is only $315 if you pre-order it now.

Probably nothing. :lol

It depends in a big way on how good the quality of the BR transfers of the RTD years are.

I dunno about the states, but here in the UK barely shopping around (opening a tab and browsing for 2 minutes) you can get a complete box set of Eccleston/Tennant for £45, for instance - so even once you add the smith seasons at £20 a go for Series 5/6 and £40 for 7, it's still well below that box set. The DVD prices are higher in the US in general, but you could probably import the older, more expensive series' and still come in $100 less than that set.

Is the Doctor Who panel tomorrow?

Odds we get a trailer for the 50th?

Yeah there is one. I don't know what time though.
I'd say the odds are very high considering something like Guardians of the Galaxy which has only been filming for three weeks already had footage to show off.

So, odds for a trailer = good.

odds on an announcement for new doctor = not so good.

I mean, it'd be a pretty big break from tradition to announce something like that in San Diego California, as opposed to London.

I mentioned this in the Daily show thread and totally forgot to mention it here. Glad I'm not crazy when I heard it though.

I actually want to be surprised on the new Doctor when we see him. I really hope they don't announce him. Let him be a surprise a la Clara in Asylum of the Daleks.

Not a chance in hell. They start filming with the Twelfth Doctor before Christmas. The chances of being able to keep that secret are absolute zero.

Wasn't she announced to be the next companion before Asylum even aired?

Yes, but the surprise was that she was in Asylum at all. If they could keep THAT a secret, I'm sure if they filmed the Christmas special all inside they'd be able to keep the new Doctor a secret too.

They filmed the Oswin stuff on one closed set with a skeleton crew. They simply cannot do that for the entire Christmas special.
This is setting aside the fact that it doesn't benefit them to keep the new Doctor secret. The Oswin secret worked because we already knew the actress was playing the new companion, so her dying gave a new sense of mystery and intrigue. There's not going to be any of that for the new Doctor, and people will want to tune in for the new Doctor anyway, so why bother? It's overwhelmingly likely that it'll leak before Christmas anyway, so they should reveal it early, and on their own terms.

I'm actually not ready for a new Doctor announcement, all the cute Matt Smith videos have made me not want him to go.

I wouldn't get too excited, anyway. They wouldn't announce anything big at a US show as it would cause a BBC remit related storm, and previous comic con footage has a) been less than 30 seconds and b) not released online until ages aftwards, so cool your jets, folks.

No you cool YOUR jets... it would be pretty weird to get something BBC related at an American show, though the show has skyrocketed in American popularity since Tennant's era.

We're supposed to be getting a 12th Doctor announcement as early as August, so you'd think a 50th trailer (which precedes new Doctor showing up) would be here soon.
