Domino's has launched a custom-built pizza delivery vehicle called the Domino's DXP (for Delivery Expert) that includes a warming oven to keep your pizza hot during delivery.

The oven is accessible from the outside of the vehicle for easy access during delivery and can be opened with a touch of the driver's key fob. It heats up to 140 degrees.

Besides being covered in Domino's logos and colors, all but the driver's seat has been removed to create extra room for holding pizzas and storage areas for other menu items. The car can hold up to 80 pizzas, which is ideal for large orders.

The concept was originally conceived in an online crowdsourced design competition called the Domino's Ultimate Delivery Vehicle Challenge. The production vehicle ended up being an economical Chevrolet Spark customized by Roush Enterprises, an engineering company.

Before, you imagine a fleet of these across the nation, the company only plans to roll-out 100 DXPs to 25 markets across the U.S., including Boston, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, New Orleans, San Diego, and Seattle. Most Domino's deliveries will still be made by the personal cars of their drivers.

They should roll that thing slowly through the dorms and frat areas of every major college on Firday and Saturday nights. Put some speakers on the outside and blare the ice cream truck jingle.

I'm not an NPC. And neither are we.
Is it normal for pizza places to have their own cars? Everywhere around here the driver just puts the car hat on their own vehicle.

That's not a bad idea at all, swarm neighborhoods during superbowl with these things and make a killing.

I would absolutely pay extra to support a company moving away from requiring low wage delivery drivers to also have to use and maintain their own cars to do their jobs. That's always seemed like the grossest part of delivery food. If the pizza is fresher because of it then all the better.

I wonder if the red and blue Domino flashes. Probably not, due to legal reasons, but still. I can't imagine it being too comfy in there.

Think every chain in Japan has these on their delivery scooters.

Step up, senpai.

What? All the pizza places here just have scooters/motorcycles for deliveries. That way they don't get stuck in traffic all the time.
Obviously the store's own and not the delivery person's.

Why has it taken so long? Same as why heated bags been a thing or at least they weren't the last time I had a pizza delivered which was back in early 2002.

Now I want pizza. :(

If that thing can hold 80 pizzas. I think they are just going to load this thing up at 11AM with 80 of the most popular pizzas and have this guy roam around the area like an ambulance.

Then again I'm pretty sure these would be prime targets to be car jacked. 80 pizzas.
Tastiest high speed chase ever

Never really had an issue with my pizzas not coming warm. That bag thing they have usually keeps it hot.

This sounds like it had larger orders in mind.
