I heard Hawkeye by Fraction is supposed to be really good but I haven't started that yet, I'm still a comic noob.

Superior Spider-Man and Ultimate Spider-Man are really good imo, Ms Marvel is also cool.

2) I don't have a regular group of friends who can help me out.

Is there a good idiot-proof way to play the hero that would work in solo queue?

Yeah, I thought it was always like that too. Last game I played with Drow and Visage I just told Drow to pop her aura whenever I was pushing or in fights, assuming that was the only time the bonus damage was added.

Aura worked on familiars when they were in 900 aoe around her just like it worked on heroes globally. Now it works the same on familiars as for creeps, so only when she activates the skill. It's a good change.

In other words, if you were asking for aura when your familiars were next to drow, it was a waste before this change.

you don't need to micro at all with lycan unless you're playing for a pro team, outside of maybe making sure you don't get blocked by your own wolves when running in your ult form or if you're playing vs a techies
