Played DOTA 2 for the first time ever today against bots. Man this game is brutal. Didn't even get a single kill in my first match. T_T

I am such a noob.

Well, he's been on vacation for 2 weeks+ now...

What about the month before then? I mean, it wasn't even finished when it was posted, which was fine, but it hasn't been updated once. For example, Skeleton King isn't in the OP, despite coming out before the Beta Key were started getting handed out for the survey.

So, what hero should I try to get good at next? So far pretty good a CM, Lich, and Omniknight, and decentish as Pugna and Sven. Also dabbled a bit in Tide Hunter and Dragon Knight, and did do a decent bit of practice on Chen so I don't utterly fail at him if I random him again.

Anther Support hero would be good, since I tend to get very upset at how poor most supports are when I am not playing the role.

dark seer!!!!!

Ok, what would be a good skill order for Dark Seer? Lets take a look, this is what I think looking at the skills and seeing people play him.

Vacuum should likely have only 1 point in it till... You know what I, looking at the mana increase compared to the damage, I think I would be better off with stats then more levels in it. Utility and cooldown is the same, but it goes up from 100 Mana for 40 damage to 190 mana for 160 damage.

So, that leaves us with the skills that do scale well. Ion Shell just goes up in damage over levels. 30/45/60/75 DPS, mana cost goes up 70/90/110/130, last 15 seconds. So this is likely where the bulk of the points will go. I'll likely have this at 4 by level 7 or 8.

Surge, makes a unit go at max speed. Mana cost goes up, but it pretty low the entire time. Leveling it up makes the duration go up, and cool down go down. 3/4.5/6/7.5 for duration, 12/11/10/9 for cooldown.

His ult is the wall thing, so just level it up when it comes up.

So, how does this skill build sound?

Vacuum/Shell/Serge/Shell/Serge/Ult/Shell/Shell/Serge/Serge/Ult/Stats/Stats/Stats/Stats/Ult/Stats.../Vacuum.

  1. Shell
  2. Vac
  3. Serge
  4. Shell
  5. Vac
  6. Vac
  7. Vac
  8. Ult
  9. Shell
  10. Shell
  11. Ult
  12. Serge
  13. Serge
  14. Serge
  15. Stats
  16. Ult
Stats for the rest

Use shell on yourself, use vac on as many as you can, queue up ult in the SAME spot you used your vac. Use serge on yourself and chase them down (or get away if you need to) then use vac again on your ult if you're still fighting.

Rush Scepter. Vanguard if you can't get any farm. Then get shiva's and that's all you should need. GG SCEPTER ON DARK SEER WINS GAMES.

Vacuum increases range and it's one of his most important skills. Haven't played him enough to make a really solid build but..you can't skip vacuum to get stats.

The few dark seer players i've seen seem to max vacuum first, and ion shield last. I have no idea why though.

Oh, Vacuum Size does increase? This is what I get for using a Wiki and not Play Dota, they didn't note the size increase.

Great, all the skills are useful to level early game, damn you Icefrog ._.

Ion Shell got a buff in the new patch too, so that will be nice. Ion shell does a ton of damage.A total of 1800 damage over 20 seconds, so its a good sustained damage. Plus, you can have two down at once.

I read his name and clicked the link. Your link has bad info in it!
So your saying you didn't read it?

Also the Ion Shell buff is pretty significant, especially the change in the duration helps a lot with mana problems early when clearing jungle camps at lower levels.

Having a competent Dark Seer on your team can be amazing when you're playing as Earthshaker. Had one vacuum four enemy heroes in, Echo Slammed all of them when they were still bunched up shoulder to shoulder.

Scoregasm.

:lol

Anyway, from what I've seen of you playing you should work on the basics (positioning etc) and not focus so much on getting 'pretty good' at a large number of heroes.

Haha wow as a newb in DOTA2 I finally had my first game (Lich) where I could say I was actually being productive for the team and getting kills. I like!

vacuum has a bigger impact in team fights and its good for setting up things like sf/tide/enigma/es ult. On the other hand, shell is more centric towards small fights like 1v1/1v2. If a ds is laning then it's common to max vacuum first while shell is generally maxed when jungling. not saying one you should play that way but to play a good ds, you need good positioning.

Yeah, this is definitely a game that becomes immensely more fun when you are doing well, and rage inducing when you are not.

Kinda cool but I hope they make it bigger so that they can add in a lot more places as time goes on. Leave some undefined areas.

complains that dota 2 thread isn't updated

asks for a skill build for a hero already present in the op

never change dota2 thread.

Can't bring my self to do anther one, to much dota in one day, but good games. Always were one sided.

no they're not, I've been in 3 in houses now and only 1 was really one sided. thats a .6666666 chance the game will be fair. Also the sign of the beast.

anyway, trying to get another in house going, if anyone wants to join.

You know what else sucks? A certain persons Bounty Hunter's team. Especially that tidehunter that ended the game with boots and a magic wand. Apparently he's support with a witch doctor and a batrider on the team. Who knows though, maybe it's a new thing to have 3 people playing support? Fucking shitty team.

fixed

250 GPM Antimage. I'm that pro B_B

So CM and VS are good starting classes, but what other ones would people recommend? Trying to dive into them all!!

So far I rely on Riki way too much, and pick him no matter what :/

There's always a damn Windrunner in my lane too, so I want to pick someone that'll chew off her face and spit it back.

The entire team was getting stomped that IH.

Oh, that reminds me, is there any spot you can ward that will prevent multiple neutral spawns?

0/3/0

One was a win but some dude DC'd at start..heh

Game is too much of a timesink (honestly reminds me when I raiding in WoW, not like way back but not recent since I don't play anymore) and its honestly too slow paced for my taste.

Maybe I randomly try another character.
