Except you can lock your camera by double clicking the hero portrait on the bottom.
And you can by double tapping F1 (or your hero selection key) and holding it. However, that is not the same as having to mouse all the way down to toggle it off.

I'm an idiot. How do I chat to all?

WelpNope.
Is there some reason I can't think of that they are bound to those keys by default? I can't understand for the life of me why something so important would be put somewhere so inconvenient.
Just played and won my first public game! I played Zeus and went 4-4-10. I gotta work on positioning with him, it's tough to be in the right place during team fights. What items would you guys recommend on him mid game?
It's the internet, so I cannot really be surprised. And I feel like the fundamental game design could lessen the reliance on others a bit more, but man it's infuriating to people who want to jump in and learn a new game.
you will find none who disagree with you.I have to say that I have found MOBA communities to be, by and large, among the worst I've encountered in any genre. This is not specific to DOTA 2 (though it is part of the problem) and it's not indicative of every person I've encountered, but it is a major problem facing this genre.
I understand that matches take about an hour, some people care about W/L, and it's frustrating to be teamed up with newbies, but there is a right and wrong way to handle it. There are only so many matches versus the AI you can play before needing help going deeper into strategy. Telling people to uninstall the game and calling them "retard" is not helping anyone.

Dat Drow. :3
Yeah, I was mostly venting. Good pep talk and valid points.you will find none who disagree with you.
as a new guy who's mostly come from TF2 and had never played a Moba game for more than a few hours lifetime, it's quite the off-putting social experience...but a helluva game in spite of it. I think that even if you're teamed up with n00bs who are feeding or aren't helpful, you can shift your mindset from #winning to #learning and focus on polishing the various aspects of your own game and being encouraging. Raging over what others are or aren't doing is an incredible waste of your own time. People seem to forget that (1) at one point, they used to be the failing feeding teammate, (2) it's a Beta, and (3) it's still a GAME. Nobody is dying in real life. And so it seems to me that if you see you're going to lose, you can work on your general execution...or last-hitting creeps...or stacking ancients...or your skill order...or defense...or map awareness (lord knows there's nothing to keep you on your toes and alert like an enemy hero 5 levels ahead of you. lol). I mean you can do SOMETHING constructive. Few are so good they can't learn anything in a no-win situation. but bitching doesn't help anyone, ever. If people are dying, they're well aware of it. There are ways to extract better play from teammates, but most don't seem to know how. when people are acting like they have no home training, I usually just stop reading the comments.
Was the aim of the match to not kill like the last crazy attempt of trying to finish 0-0-0?
Aghanims sceptre is good, and from there you can build bloodstone, sheepstick or refresher orb, depending on how well you're kill stealing and how well the game is going. But by aghanims you're raining down 600 pre mitigation damage to everyone in a team fight, without a pipe you're still gonna be eating away at their hp.
Need to do Royalty Cleave when we're capable of playing.Nah, mine was playing against Josh P and his friends, 5 shots in, on furion. Pretty sure that was my third furion game, dota 1 included. Hate that guy, they made me do it.
I suck so bad at this it isn't even funny. Granted I am pretty new to MOBA games, but I am getting destroyed by bots on Easy. I played a game as Zeus (who I liked well enough) but just get destroyed by enemy heroes. That and I don't really know what items to buy. I want to get into this, but I'm so bad at it I feel like I can't.
There is no such thing as can't. If you sink some time into it you can get better. Send me a pm if you want I can help you get a handle on some of the key aspects of the game.I suck so bad at this it isn't even funny. I thought he was the epitome of anti-fun. :huh
They're slowly decreasing the join date requirement. You can try your luck next timeI checked my playdota account and realized that my join date is Dec 18th 2011. A day after the cut off date they use for the 180 key giveaways per day.
All we were missing was Enigma, Viper was the pub, goes 0 & 5. AFK farms all game while team aoe teamfights and wins all teamfights.

There's an item page on playdota too. Open both up to cross-check. It doesn't take long to know them afterwards.A lot of guides have old Dota icons for items. Anyone know of a site that places the old icons/names side by side with the new icons/names? That would help a ton!
My mistake on that alch dive in the last part. Made them get mega creeps. But that invoker.
Time to install mumble!
that was a ridiculously fun game i decided to roam at just the right moment
