Chuan confirmed trying out for Dreamz.

Wasn't it a Lion's force staff on SD?
No force staff.

i think i am reaching the point where i've realized that the amount of time it would take to learn this game would encompass the entirety of my lifespan so i should just enjoy watching matches on twitch and not bother trying to play
YOLO

So Na'Vi are basically going to get turfed from the group stages of TI3. Every time they come up against a decent team like Liquid or Alliance they get stomped. Pretty disappointing considering how much fun they are/were to watch.

I just get the feeling that they don't have a balanced enough lineup. Kuroky and Funn1k just seem too aggressive, they need a hard support and a hard offlane, whereas they have two players who essentially play roaming/play making roles rather than stick to theirs. It works sometimes, when all 5 players are in the zone, but when they aren't, they can't rely on strict role playing to still win them the game.

I hope to see a different Na'Vi at TI3, as much as I am willing to admit they've never been the best team in Dota, for me they're the most entertaining to watch.

just bought the compendium.. really smart idea to have the community fund the tournament prizes.. genius.

how is everyone's courier shaping up?

Absolutely they are entertaining and they know how to work the crowd.

I'm assuming you get particle upgrade effects at 25-75-100 and then whatever way they want to make them evolve for mounts.

bat loses that matchup, nyx is 50/50 since od can just get rid of nyx's mana and no mana = no mana burn. Doesn't even matter if you bottle crow, you wont have enough max mana to burn unless you pick up arcanes, and OD won't let you do that.

Honestly, only few mids I can think of that beat OD are Sylla and sniper.

Skywrath Mage can do well against OD.

Not saying it will be the same, but they had problems like this last year as well but they always show up to play when it's for The International. However I dont remember any team last year looking as strong as Alliance does this year. Alliance has it all. Control, creativity, strategy, in the moment reactions. They really look like the favorites this year.

Against QoP its a legit build. Come level six QoP pretty much can blink in and kill but not with the build Milk went, I saw QoP blink in cast everything, Milk just right clicked her to death.
not sure if serious. SF can kill her only if she blinks in with creeps attacking her (!!), he also needs 30+ souls (that's pretty much what happened in that game). before that you can't stay in lane at all without raze, meaning you should lose mid pretty hard.

"before that you can't stay in lane at all without raze" why the hell can't you stay in lane? confused.

SF can only raze you once at level 6/7 when you blink in for the kill. QoP can do more dmg and why SF has to play scared at level 6/7 when facing a QoP.

We should totally do a 1v1 with this match up to test it. I'm not 100% sure but I do believe QoP has it for this match up for mid.

You can hit two razes when she blinks in unless she's point blank (because there is a pretty stupid bug with the aoe spell)s, not to mention it's pretty easy to harass her a little while lasthitting with a raze, making her more scared of just going in.

In a SF vs anyone matchup, at low levels, SF can win if the enemy tries to retreat (razes on its way out) that's why if you commit to a kill against SF, you should not retreat until either of you is death. I used to abuse this back in dota1 laning pa vs sf in mid, less experienced sfs didn't expect me to jump in and stay close to them even in low hp, they where waiting for me to fall back to kill me and when we both got too low, the first of us who decided to fall back died.

QoP high magic damage and blink in makes razes almost useless, so focusing on lowering armor and/or higher damage per attack can work, asumming that QoP doesn't 2 shot you.

QoP is a better mid, and of course, it all depends on the the skill of the players but you can still win with SF using razes, forcing her out of the lane at level 3 already, not 6-7.
watch some Dendi SF, I think he won vs QoP several times, you hit 2 razes (level 3) and she's already at low hp. without raze you can't do shit, especially when you have no souls.

What do you get if you buy the compendium? .. And can someone tell me why the phantom lancer seems to be ridonkulous when maxed out?

Bonus Battle point bonus until TI3 end, courier, skin, and prob other goodies. As for PL, he can spawn a dozen of himself in late game and annoying to play against

Kind of surprised to see Alliance go 5-0, can't wait to see how they do in a Bo3 final.

People should probably remember that there is a major patch between now and the international. Who knows how much the meta will changes or who will adapt best to the changes.

(It's also why talk of iG hiding their strats as a reason for their poor performance is a load of shit. Whats the point of hiding strats in one of the biggest non international tournaments when the meta could be completely different come August?)

Are people really saying shit like that? The prize money isn't TI3 level but it's a lot of fuckin money. No way would a sponsoring company condone sandbagging, regardless of any potential changes in the meta.

IG just got outdrafted and outplayed.

It reminds me of the way Barcelona looked set to dominate European football for the next decade, and then all of the sudden this year they get absolutely stomped by the top German league team, who are now favorites to be European champions. In fact it's rather similar to IG. You can't imagine seeing them lose, but then all of the sudden there they are getting steamrolled.

It's not about getting outdrafted or outplayed, is about them playing like complete shit compared to usual, Ferrari blinking into 4 players to get an hard support kill which he didn't even get is a complete joke. Of course it could be just a little slump, no team can play almost perfectly all the time.

Except that they also got outdrafted and outplayed. Like when they lost to LGD, they lost every lane completely, it wasn't just Ferrari. And some weird picks like support Juggernaut just made no sense.

Would anyone be so kind as to play a bot game or something with me to see how I play and give some tips to a lil newbie? :)

I've got quite a few games under my belt now but I'm only learning a little at a time

I think people are charging for lessons now. Eurghhhh

Surprised they aren't hawking the pizza.gg stuff like Alliance.US

Fuck with people's heads. [A] have huge egos.

No, while there are technically diminishing returns on armor if you look at damage reduction/amplification, each point of armor is 6% more EHP regardless, so it's not really diminishing returns. Each point of armor means it will takes 6% longer to kill the target with physical attacks. Though since a large percentage of hero vs hero damage is magical, it is way less than 6% in reality. Which is why -armor is more useful vs roshan and towers than vs heroes.

The reason you don't stack -armor is that it leaves you weak in other areas, just like stacking any other stat does.

Worth noting there is a hard cap to damage bonus from having negative armor, but it is at -20, which is really really hard to reach vs even a low armor hero, and basically impossible to reach vs a stacked agi carry.

It's actually more complicated than your post makes it sound. Each point of armor provides EHP equivalent to 6% of your (armor-less) health pool. That might be what you meant, but it's not quite the same thing as 6% more EHP. Stacking armor provides linear returns, just like stacking health does, albeit vs only physical damage in the case of armor. In essence, each point of armor you have makes each additional point of armor less valuable, while making additional health more valuable.

Logically, you might think that since stacking armor provides linear returns on EHP, stacking armor reduction would provide linear returns on your DPS. This isn't actually the case; stacking armor reduction provides increasing returns on your DPS. The math behind this is complicated, and I don't have time to go into it right now, but I can do so another time if anyone's interested. So every new point of armor reduction you get increases your DPS by more than the last. This is why you frequently see armor reduction items on recommended item lists for heroes who have built-in armor reduction skills.

This is true up until you reach enough armor reduction to reduce your target's armor to zero. At that point, the armor formula changes; the formula for negative armor is different than the formula for positive armor. Stacking additional armor reduction on a target that's already at negative armor has diminishing returns. Although negative armor does have a hard cap at -20, the value of additional armor reduction becomes miniscule long before you reach that cap. It's still a great stat to get up until your target reaches -10 or so, and doesn't really become bad until -15 or so. Think of the benefit of armor reduction as a bell curve, which peaks when you have enough to reduce your target to zero armor.

Also, one of the main reasons armor reduction is so good against Roshan and towers is that it's a stat which increases everyone's damage against the target; other damage stats only increase your own personal damage. (In the case of towers, that includes the damage from your creeps.) So it's a great stat against any target that will be focused by multiple physical damage-based attackers.

I still hate the report system in this game. Honestly, I can't tell you how many times I've played with people that are chat banned. It's so annoying, and I feel like I'm being punished. Like my team is being punished. Yeah, they can still use the Y button to call missing. And they can still ping. But communication is just such a big deal in this game, that it drives me nuts.

At this point, I would rather they just kick these people into low priority. Seriously.

And further, I can't tell you how many times I see people abusing the damn report system. "This guy is feeding, let's report him". K - so someone is doing bad (not on purpose), and that warrants them to get chat banned? Also, I'm telling you, it only takes 2-4 reports (so a single game where a team reports) to get chat banned.

I've been lucky that I've only been chat banned once. But this system is IMO broken. I think 24 hour/72 hour + low priority was a much better solution.

On a none "bitchy" note, my friend was foolish enough to pay $40 or whatever for that Lina Arcana hair. And then 5 matches later, someone in our pub game actually WON that item from the match. He was so mad. Funniest thing ever.

So, what you guys think of mid TA skipping Blink D.? I feel like rushing blink really diminishes her early game damage potential and in the late game you won't want to blink near enemies as they'll probably be walking together. Better to go Phase-> Yasha-> Deso, as your ulti can easily slow them enough for you to catch them.

This. It's in almost every game. Someone makes a mistake? Report. Some with people complaining in global that they only have noobs on their team, or telling the enemy team to report someone for feeding.

I've not played that many games yet but I've had a number of instances when someone isn't doing too well (Bear in mind my wins are only just into double digits) and people are pleading for reports.. Harsh community :L

So frustrating. And the thing is, often these people are playing with friends. So they just group up on reports. So even if you report them for abusing the system, nothing ever comes of it. I mean, eventually maybe enough single reports will come back to bite them. But for now, these assholes just get away with group reporting and getting people banned for things they shouldn't even be banned with.

To clarify, I usually play with a group of friends. But sometimes they can't play, so I'll just solo and I see this a lot. I guess this is why I should just stick to solo matchmaking when I play by myself. =/

So sick of PL. I only lose when there is a PL on the other team. Last game PL didn't have shit, died 5 times early game, and he still won in the end. We had a 17-1 lead, dust, sentries, killed him plenty of times, took their rax, he still wins.

So fucking sick of PL pickers.

Given that people get TWO reports per week, this is probably a touch exaggerated.

Not a PL problem, you didn't close out the game.

Tenck and I crushed a PL/KotL team the other day. CRUSHED. Sand King outassisted me, the jerk. But yeah, even if the PL sucks, he is still a huge pain.

Nah keep hitting the button. I still get 8-9 reported banning confirmed messages/week.

I think it has to do also with how many buttons you can chain together reasonably well.

its ok guys just grind until people are slightly less heinous and terrible

How long does it take? I'm currently level 20 (not that, that's a high level. I've only been playing for a month and a half).

Also, I thought leveling didn't matter at this point (with regards to the matchmaking).

Levels don't mean anything. He's basically telling you to grind to get better
