So I just watched
this game, and there a couple of things I thought were worth pointing out.
For Storm Spirit specifically:
- Make sure you use every overload charge, unless it's basically impossible or would waste time that you need to do something clutch. You sometimes would remnant for a last hit, then remnant for the next one too, without using your charge. It's a waste and an be used to harass if not or csing.
- Don't remnant unnecessarily. There was a few times where you remnanted as a wave approached you, only getting the first creep as it came into range. This wastes mana on SS, which you need to manage with care. Also, try to always do the zip-hit-vortex-hit-remnant-hit combo when you go on people. It's just practice till your fingers can do it without slip ups quickly. And try to position them so they will hit heroes when ganking early on. Put them in their path rather than behind them.
- Mana management in general come mid game. You don't have to zip in from a huge distance, and trying to spend as little mana as possible in each jump will increase your dps by a lot from the overload charges. Sometimes you even zipped in, only to regret that and zip out again, then realize the fight was now going full on and zipping back in, only to realize you had hardly any mana left. Efficiency and decisiveness is the name of the game.
In general:
- The big thing I noticed was camera control. In the game I watched you were radiant, but when in lane your hero was in the top right hand side of the screen almost always, with the invoker you were against virtually off screen. About a third of the screen was empty space, which is again, a waste. Being able to see everything more clearly is very useful. Better players could probably explain that better but whatever. In fights all the action would be in a corner. I had it in player perspective and I could hardly tell what was happening half the time, which means you probably couldn't that well either. Just a matter of keeping a cool head I reckon there.
- In lane you could stand to harass a little more. You can't expect to get kills against your opposite number if he's full health most of the time. Punish passiveness, particularly on aggressive heroes.
- One trick a lot of good players do that I myself am just learning to do is click on the hero to draw aggro and get the enemy creeps onto your range creep, or just closer to you in general. This is particularly useful when they are just uphill, as it takes away uphill miss chance, so you can last hit more reliably. There are more fancy things you can do with this but I can't even do them myself so I won't try to explain.
- Last hitting, as is always the case can be improved. Doesn't really need to be said, just keep practising and it will improve. This is true for everyone.
I think that's all my thoughts for now, hope it helps. I realize that you may know some of these things already, I know I don't put a lot of my 'knowledge' into practice because it's different when you are actually in a game. But some of it may be useful.
Edit: Oh, and going bkb and linken's in that game was overkill. They only had dragon tail and burrowstrike that broke linken's, which you should have activated bkb by the time they were in range of you. Could have spent that money on a hex for either DK or SF or a bloodstone for dps/regen/tankiness.
