you'd hope they already have something else going on in parallel.
not sure ms will give them another 5years to deliver another dud.
this has "bomb" written all over it.

Doublefine has never set the sales world on fire so you have to wonder why Microsoft acquired them in the first place.

df was among earlier buys, before they went publisher swallowing mode.
more of a prestige buy at that time I'd guess.
i agree they don't really fit well with the current "show results or die" approach ms taking towards gaming.

thats why this bombing after 4 years of development will not go well. they closed studios for less.

Tend to agree with this, something akin to Media Molecule and Sony. But like you mentioned, the ActiBlizzKing acquisition has changed a lot. Double Fine Productions has delivered the perfect game if they were hoping to get shuttered, though I do think they could be sold to someone else (maybe Sony or someone like Devolver Digital). And I say all this as someone who is looking forward to playing Keeper.

Double Fine should just try to get the rights to make a new Grim Fandango.
This stuff is too niche and weird to get attention even if it got a 85-90 metacritic let alone 78.

Played for about 20 minutes and I have walked around a set path and moved the light from the lighthouse around. Riveting stuff... It looks stunning though (on PC).

Microsoft execs already discussing closing Double Fine.

I really have no idea what the fuck Microsoft execs even want these days.

I don't even think they do anymore.

Maybe how can they leverage their building AI sector with the gaming and raise the stock price before the next corporate/investor trend comes in.
