Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen PS4/XB1 |OT| They're master ports all, you can't go wrong

Where would the best places to plant port crystals?

Tbh I should probably put the eternal ferrystone back in storage, I hardly get to see nighttime now and I'm probably missing on combat experience from fighting my way back to Gran Soren....

Vastly differs to how I played Vanilla Dogma with its nighttime treks.

I've been telling y'all to not abuse warping lol

Yesterday I was in that spooky woods where the abbey is, and it turned into night, and also I ran out of oil short after that.

Couldn't literally see shit. And I loved it lol

It's more inspired than a true sequel. It's also where Capcom clearly put their resources and focus. Then look at how that has ended up.

I know there is the DD MMO but that never even made it to the West. No idea how good it was.

I'd honestly take a version with the online completely removed at this point.

Just for the Alchemist vocation...

Where is the Abbey? I forgot where it was and when I found it back on PS3, I was way over leveled. I think it's somewhere on top of the map.

I was doing an escort mission from Gran Soren to the Shadowfort. Started in the early morning and went through the night to the next morning. Along the way we were about to snipe some saurians and BOOM! -- a fucking Chimera outta nowhere like Randy Orton. Thankfully we, and our charge, survived the encounter.. but reminded me why I loved this game so fucking much. Anything can happen if you're not aware of your surroundings and it's satisfying as hell when you actually survive the encounter with all of your limbs in tact. :)

I agree, what with it's presentation and gameplay (what little there is/was), but lately, I've been thinking that it WILL be used for DD2... Not the gameplay and art direction obviously, but solely testing the DD2 waters for co-op and engine/physics performance.

Co-op in DD2 could be fun as long as they don't ditch the Pawn system for it. :/

It would have been nice if co-op was optional while you could still play the game normally with Pawns.Or maybe it could be a mix with a player and his Pawn and another player and his Pawn too. Then afterwards you could rate them as a team and give presents, comments etc!

Urgh did the
rescue the duchess
mission as Sorcerer, very bad idea.

Your pawns stay away and you're solo, at one point you get swarmed during escape and I get chain stunned almost by blink striking enemies and strider types. When I do get a free moment to try and cast I get interrupted by archers, or again the blink strikers and strider types.

This mission was not though of in regard to this class.

When you reach the houses just before the Quarry (where you have to kill the ogres) keep going through the road that doesn't go to the Quarry. The woods are next to it.

Considering DD is story driven like any other RPG, I don't see coop working during it. They could enable at post game, or making a BBI like dungeon online.

I was excited for warrior but the slow pace of their weapons makes me wanna go mystic knight instead.

Is there augments from other vocations that would speed up attacking?

There's a few ways I could see this handled:

-Limit the game to 2 player co-op, so it's either 2 players plus their main pawns or 1 player with 3 pawns like how it is now.

-Expand the amount of people possible in a party so it's 4 players each with their main pawns, so 8.

-Do 4 player co-op with the players who join taking the place of a pawn, so no one who joins gets access to their main pawn while in another's world.

-Keep things mostly the same as DD:DA, but add the ability to play as your pawn when it's taken by another Arisen.

I'd prefer to have as few people as possible in terms of co-op, and I wouldn't mind if they kept it single player only honestly.

I like these two options the best. But for the second one in order to be meaningful they would really need to up the size and the challenge of the monsters at around Ur-Dragon level and size standards but with less HP.

Also, I'm so glad I have the strategy guide from the PS3 version. Never thought I'd be cracking that tome open again, but here we are. :)

I agree 1000%. Fortunately, I think the pawn system is such an integral part of the lore/ecosystem, it wouldn't make sense to remove that unique feature. I love it! If they do throw in co-op, it should be optional quests, like raids in Destiny or something... Definitely not MMO style.
There's no doubt though... this IP is gold all around with endless possibilities.

Just killed the dragon. Am I better to do post-game before seriously tackling BBI? I'm level 48.

The game should really dragonforge your pawns armour/weapons too.

The fun is just starting ....The Everfall and BBi beckons ...I would probably
go to BBI , then explore post world and finally the everfall and get the real ending.

Either choice, will probably get you out there really OP.

Don't forget the UR dragon :D - imo he has one of the most beautiful armor pieces in the entire game :D

Explore the world for the changes, and then BBI. Everfall is not worth it anymore with BBI IMO.

I did a bit of post-game on my PS3 copy but I can't actually remember if I completed the game fully. When you properly complete it does it kick you into NG+?

Everything loot wise is pretty much more powerful in BBI, right? Level 48 might be a little low too.

That's how my escort quest with Reynard ended. Chimera that wasn't previously there all of a sudden started spawning on my route to the Fort and ate him.

It's a joke, especially if you've ever went into BBI. It seems so rushed in comparison. I literally ran through it back on PS3 since it was so easy compared to BBI.

I don't exactly remember but I think it does.

And yes, BBI gear is WAY better than Everfall / Ur-Dragon. Lvl 48 is a lil on the low side yeah.

I mean, I played vanilla first so we only had Everfall and postgame world. The Everfall has some cool bosses but the rest was shit and repetitive, and the bosses don't mean much now with BBI. Postgame world is fun to explore but
fuck missing the awesome day/night cycle lol
. It's also not hard enough too, you overlevel it fast.

Can anyone confirm if Bitterblack items can be collected as any vocation in BBI, and then for purifying the vocations can be changed just before doing so?

Or is the loot set in stone the second the Bitterblack items are pulled from chests? Most guides say at the moment of purification which suggests to me I can pick them up from chests as any vocation, and then switch just before purifying?

It's the vocation you have when puryfing. The loot is set in stone when you get it, but for each of the 3 types of vocations.

Yeah, I know the loot being set in stone. I might not have been clear enough. Can I run through BBI for some chest drops as my normal main/pawn vocation collecting everything, then switch vocations just before purifying? Or do I need to be as the vocations I want for loot drops BEFORE picking things out of chests? Thanks

You can. Only the vocation at the time of purification matters, not when the item is picked up.

Awesome. Now to go farm some lvl 1 gears so I can try and get my rings/bands sorted.

LOL I'm confused, but here's what I know

You can change vocations by talking to the only two NPC's there
and all loot you get will be random, I'm a fighter , and sometimes loot is for a mage or magic archer, ect.

Nah, it's okay, just ignore me if you're not doing Bitterblack Isle yet. It's to do with purifying items you get there.

On another note, I wish they let you hotkey Godsbane lol.

You can switch after getting the lot yep.

Edit: Im late lol

The loot is based on both you and your main pawn (even if they aren't there at the time).

There are three types of items you can get: Fighter/Warrior, Strider/Ranger, and Mage/Sorcerer. If both you and your pawn are in one of those groups you are guaranteed to get an item for it.

The other classes are combinations. So if you are a fighter and your pawn is magic archer (combination of strider and mage groups), you might get an item from any class.

Suddenly hitting a brick wall after having an easy time, in the wind valley those fucking bandits are sponges. I am level 32 Ranger, with utiltitarian/challenger/medic mage pawn. It seems I need to rearrange my party (currently with strider and fighter).

So pawns do not heal themselfs automatically, right?
They do if they have the proper curatives in their inventory. Any herb or food they'll use to heal, but certain curatives that may have healing properties but aren't purely healing items like Light-Cures they won't use, IIRC. Mages will also heal themselves and other pawns.

Thank you.

Can I change the size of my pawn?
At the encampent - there is a guy who sells an item where you can completly edit your pawn .
It's a costy item tho. - I think new game + you buy another item that allows you to edit yout pawn as much as you want.

They actually do, if you give them a potion ( they normally use it when their life is low)

edit : right I totally forgot about this
change yours and your pawn's vocation to fighter-for all swords/maces or fighter /warrior /MK armor

Blue/Blue (mage /mage) for staffs and robes

strider/strider for daggers and bows/ or ranger strider/assassin wearable armor

save before you purify-change vocation-you will see that drop-godsbane change vocation to see next combination-rinse repeat - they will be the same per vocation so only godsbane to see the different possibilities per vocation you cannot change the drop for the same vocation combination by godsbaning-one drop per vocation,
In addition, for MA gear/weapons/armor change to strider/strider.

I thinks this is the best explanation I found regarding the loot system in BBi

The set of items that you can get is determined at the drop, but the item you receive when purifying is determined by the actual vocation of the Arisen and Main Pawn, which Olra can change.

Before you ever purify anything, rest at the bench next to her for a checkpoint save. Avoid Hybrid classes when purifying because the outcome is unreliable. Assassin usually counts as Yellow, Mystic Knight usually acts as Red and Magick Archer acts as Blue, but there's a 25% chance of getting the other color.

No, if you want a 'RED' vocation item, switch both you and your pawn to a 'RED' vocation. If you want a 'YELLOW', then make both vocations 'YELLOW', and for 'BLUE' make them both 'BLUE'. It's fairly straightforward.

Most of the 'Novelty' Items will remain the same no matter what color your vocations are, so if you don't want to go through the 'Month-Dried Harspud!' or 'Jewel of Antilight!' over and over as you reload from checkpoints to determine what three items you could get, you can just purify all 'novelties' before you checkpoint save.

All Magick Archer stuff appears when you purify Yellow, and Mystic Knight is Red. Really annoying when you're trying to get Fighter gear and a gorram hammer appears. It's like 'Yeah, I totally just ran through that hellhole and risked my life for a weapon that I'll NEVER USE. Fantastic.'

Bitterblack Gear can become ability rings that will boost your skills to tier 3. For example, Scarlet Kisses < Hundred Kisses < Thousand Kisses. These DO change in purification with different vocations, but Stat Rings usually won't.

Do Tier 3 skills change in appearance or just increase attack power? I can't recall.

If you have 2 rings of perseverance like me it's done very quickly. I just needed the get the warrior/fighter rank 9 strength augments for my assassin.

Wearing Asura Armor (chest piece), reward from (Pawn Guild?) Notice Board quest post-game will speed it up even more. Supposedly you need to equip it before the rings for it to work. After completing the quest,
killing 7 Geo Saurians
, you can buy a 2nd from Johnathan (RC NPC) at Encampment.

lol, just signed in, another 188k RC. Not as high as over the 300k I got yesterday, but switching to pants and corset "worked" last night. Gamers ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Fsai9BQ.jpg

What Dragons Dogma 2 needs (Capcom, pls, stop sitting on good IP and doing shit with it) is loot boxes. Stick panties and corsets as legendary skins in loot boxes and see the $$$. Yes, drop rates for some DD loot is low in the game as it is, but killing yourself and hitting retry takes seconds. Before anyone says to my satire "but you're enjoying a game with low % RNG!".

I won't argue about what's effective or not in terms of RC gathering, lol, but ewwww that kind of look. I personally wouldn't want to hire a pawn using that kind of look unless there's absolutely no other pawn that I can choose, haha,

I seriously cannot state just how much I love the post game for Dragons Dogma.

Everything from the
repercussions for the story, the visible differences, the decision to upgrade the power and increase the frequency of encounters in the open world, the board quests to incentivize returning to old areas, the inclusion of several new enemies, the Everfall, even the damn skybox:

Is just fantastic to me. I know DD gets a lot of deserved criticism for it's story and voice acting, but I've always felt that regardless of the rather mediocre approach to these parts of the game, it ends up doing a really good job contrasting just how off the rails the story gets for the post game.
