I wish I could tell you guys I'm tired of it, but the times I actually kill one make me more and more addicted. It's like gambling.

In the U.S. it would have been perfect for the function we need tagging to perform. The events just aren't enough. I think I already missed one at Gamestop.
Maybe as the game ages Nintendo will release some of the tag rewards online?

Just out of curiosity, what separates that map from any other map with metals? Based on what I've read, the best possible scenario would be to get a map with Platinum King Jewels on the first floor, and they'd presumably be on every floor, but they'd still be few and far between because of all the other enemies that come with them.Mejilan said:As a bonus, I was even able to acquire that awesome Japanese treasure map with the ridiculous metal encounter rates.

You keep class skills from one job to the next, so your spent skill points will nearly always be useful, except for like +healing on a gladiator and stuff.bdouble said:Alright so skill points I've found can't be reallocated and well if you change vocations they are pretty much lost depending on the class. Should I be saving these like a Torchlight Diablo game or do you get enough of them/ is it easy enough to level another character (even name it and delete the other one) that it really doesn't matter when I'm under leven 20.

...you do have a priest in your party, right?
My guys are 41-43. He just hits too many times and my priest can't manage everything. Like my martial artist will be at 60% health, so I heal, but then the final boss does an attack that hits everyone, and then crits my mage or some shit. Maybe I just need better gear, but I have no money. Why are DQ final bosses always so hard? I had the same problem in DQ IV.zoku88 said:Maybe low 40s, upper 30s?

After you get to Coffinwell (which you probably already did), you can find Metal Slimes, which can bring you up to level 15 with ease. I used default party members for a while before I realized that I didn't like the hairstyle on one of them, and it was very easy to go recruit someone new and level them up to replace that person.bdouble said:Alright so skill points I've found can't be reallocated and well if you change vocations they are pretty much lost depending on the class. For Gladiator, I got a Warrior with Martial Artist's Psyche Up skill, and used the main character's Egg On skill on them as well. That way, it only takes 2 or 3 turns to get to max tension, giving a pretty good chance that the slime doesn't flee.CoolS said:ok guys, please help me: What's the best way to do the Gladiator and Mage Knight quests? I just don't know how to do them.
CoolS said:Thanks,
my problem with metal slimes is that they always flee even before i can use war cry, and if I suceed to use it, they resist and flee anyway

Skill points you've dumped into the class-specific skills are never wasted, but for the weapon-specific skills, it seems like an effective strategy to concentrate on powering up single weapons to start until they max out. If you have already spread your points out evenly among all the weapons at a character's disposal, then you might want to get those points back by restarting that character, but skill points aren't that hard to come by, and you will probably end up maxing out all of the weapon-specific skills anyways.
I don't think you can go wrong either way.
oh so when your leveling you don't have to use those skills on that class? Ok that helps then. I just wasn't sure about some of my weapon choices so I guess it doesn't really matter.BooJoh said:You keep class skills from one job to the next, so your spent skill points will nearly always be useful, except for like +healing on a gladiator and stuff.
But besides that, there's eventually an infinite number of obtainable skill points for each character, so it really doesn't matter. If you find yourself lacking the needed skill points for a tree, switch to a level 1 job you don't intend to use on that character, level to 20 or so on metals, then switch back and spend your skill points where you want them.
The bottom skill gives you stat boosts and abilities that you get to keep no matter what class you're in. The weapon skills and weapon-stat boosts are weapon-specific and only apply while you're actually equipped with the weapon you learned them for. If you change to a class that uses the same weapon that you're using, then you can keep on holding that weapon and benefiting from it's bonuses. When you put a full 100 points into a weapon, it becomes "omnivocational" and that character can use it in any class.bdouble said:No I've been concentrating on either the bottom skill or the weapon so none of my characters are spread too thin. So the weapon ones are either more effective if you choose a second class that shares that skill or a little less when you choose a class without that skill then.
There are metal slimes in the quarantomb, to the left of Coffinwell. You can just run laps inside the tomb, avoiding all the useless enemies until you see a metal slime.Where are the metal slimes? I've blown right through Coffinwell. Knowing this though I'll probably stick with what I got. Minstrel with swords, Mage with whips, martial artist with fans and a priest with wands.
