Square Enix cautious about flooding the market with HD-2D games

Careful now.
“The visual style in this game, as you said, is different to a normal HD-2D title. The backgrounds in the world were not pixelated, but instead were made with real time 3D,
Remember if you pixelate the background rendering you owe SE a royalty!
That is the same excuse Blizzard gave about how Diablo 4 is not an aRPG

Imagine the hubris to openly verbalize your disdain for competition. the mental gymnastics these jack-offs do to rationalize what diarrhea comes out their mouths.

If it gets more people to experience FFV and FFVI then go for it! But wow they really wanna throw everything at the wall other than just making a brand new mainline turn based Final Fantasy, huh? They are allergic to it.

I'm hoping SE sees Metaphor that got nominated for GOTY, which shows people still very much care about turn based games.

I REALLY want to see at least one mainline Final Fantasy having turn based combat.

They know that these games are going to be their bread and butter.. meaning they're relatively cheap to make with the potential for large returns on investment. Too many too fast will burn through the novelty and make them feel like cash grabs.

What SquareEnix have to do, is space them out.. and not just repeat the exact same style for all the games.. they need to improve the production qualities as they go. Dragon Quest 3, and 1&2 will all be fine at the quality of DQ3HD2D... but if they do 4-6 (The Zenithian Trilogy) then the quality needs to jump up. Better 3D backgrounds, higher quality animations with more frames of animation.. ect. There's plenty of ways for this style of remake/remaster to evolve.. so they've got to change it up a bit and keep things fresh.

Luckily for SquareEnix, they have a literally metric shit ton of quality classic content for them to make brand new again. So as long as they take their time and do things right, then everything will be good.

i recall xenogears and star ocean as well back before, it's very interesting for remade or new games with same vein. FFVI, Chrono Trigger, or tons of JRPG could be use this style for benefit more.

Don’t worry, in a decade we will get the Final Fantasy I-VI HD-2D collection for the low, low price of $24.99 for FF1-3, $34.99 for FF 4-5, and $39.99 for FF6. Deluxe digital edition for $199.99 thrown in for good measure.

Don't flood the market, but have a steady cadence.
This. I know there's a big push for these games now and that's great, but making too many will get people to get board of them. I would say, focus on the ones the people want immediately (like say Chrono Trigger or Xenogears, for example) and then slowly add more titles that could benefit. This also includes new IP titles if the shape of the game design warrants it.
